So after messing up the "one" video of level 4-8 on 12/31/2024 and a 5 days for my knee to recover, down I went again while the boss is out of town. I am surprised at how dry it is and how slow the water seeps back in given how close we are to the lake. 4" per day at that depth but that may be less if the cone of depression forms. Note pump rate was 20kUSG/day = 15" #missilesilo, #icbm, #bunker

Solar and general progress update - Now 25Kw with 10Kw off grid and 15Kw grid tied. Seeing as I need to have excess electric to pump the silo I was forced to move to a hybrid system as there is little point in paying the monthly CBC costs to then pull that electric back to pump. Once I know how quick the water rises in the silo I can balance to on/off grid capacity to match the needs of the hou...

I was hoping I could use the fill and vent shaft to get the 240 volt pump in, but for now I will have to run it up the stairs then move it to the escape shaft once I cut the welds off later this month. Still not got that focus sorted out, by the time I checked it was bad I was too tired to go back down. Walking up and down those steps a few times is about the limit my knees can take. Getting ol...

Atlas F LCC Lower Level now accessible. As part of the permit requirements I need keep records of the GPD pumped and also for interest I record the water level each day too. So that had been less each day for the past week and last night I realized that that is probably due to the water dropping in the silo access tunnel. A 2 hour trip downstairs added lights to the Lower LCC and cut some more ...

Had to replace lights string as condensation was causing corrosion of the lamp caps due to no water tight seals on the lamp holders. Surprised that the escape hatch is welded closed and not just a couple of inches but all around. Pumping proceeding 20k GPD is about 8 to 9.5 inches per day so expect to be in the LCC lower in 2-3 weeks. #missilesilo, #icbm, #bunker

For Tony, the previous owner who wanted to pump out the silo 22 years ago. After testing the new filters over the winter I was surprised on how well they work. Reduced the "phenols" to undetectable at 14 GPM and also undetectable at 2x nominal flow. So no need to reduce the discharge rate as I was expecting. The plan is pump at the daily limit of 20k GPD at much as I can. Interested to see how ...

    It looks like your collimator room might be intact on that level, I wonder if you still have a collimator in place for the missile inertail guidance system? @@noddysyacht looks like there is only about another 20ft to the very bottom. Its really not worth the hassle pumping all the way to the bottom. I visited a couple of the natuarally dry sites in NM and the bottom of the silo is just full of rubbish the salvage crews chucked down there. The crib works looks to be in great condition too. Do you know when the site was salvaged? I know Lewis still had the Atlas launcher in it in the mid 80s.

    This is where the EG4 lineup would shine. Several of their inverters come with smart load management. From what I understand you can pull 50-80amps 240V on them.

    • @Aubatron
      @Aubatron 2 месяца назад

      IMO EG4 is a gen ahead of everyone else and are fairly affordable. They keep releasing more are more updated models continuously. Right now their 240v lineup in this order goes 6000xp, 12000xp, 12kpv, 18kpv. Then they’re releasing two somewhat similar versions of the 18kpv that loses some features but is more affordable and can handle more solar panels. Great pieces of equipment and I think some of them come with a 10 year warranty.

    So I heard from one of the other silo owners that the steel I-Beams under the Silo Cap Doors were used for closing them. The hydrolics were removed with the doors open and I-beams were placed across with wooden boards and large amounts of hay bales over them. The Doors were then pushed onto the hay by heavy equipment with the hay then lit on fire. As everything burned, the doors slowly closed into position with only the I-beams remaining under them. The I-beams were possibly bent from the extreme heat. Reply

    wow WOW *WOW* , incredible!!! My cousin's family and I always go up to the Adirondacks every year for a weekend or so and this year just by chance we're doing an Airbnb in Willsboro. I was having a look around google maps and noticed an ICBM site literally across the street! After a bit sleuthing on here I was shocked to find this amazing record of the site's current rehabilitation! We're kind of into nuclear technology and history and it would be absolutely amazing for us to be able to see the site. Is there any possibility at all that we could stop by and have a quick peek around? Do you have an email address I could contact you at? There are only 5 of us total and we would of course be very respectful of your time and property if we had the chance to stop by. Thanks much for all the interesting video of the work you are doing at the site here!

    Great progress with draining the silo - considering the level of filtration you're applying to the water you bring out I think 15 inches a day is amazing. So fascinating to see how much of the infrastructure they left behind. I guess at the end of the day there probably wasn't much of a market for it on that scale.
