You could saw long grass in your yarn where the mower doesnt come close to the graden beds
You made a video without bothering to find out where the name comes from? Your accent stops me being surprised.

Just tie the hori hori knife sheath to your belt loop with string or paracord. Alternatively buy a small key ring carabiner clip and use that. Or make a nice clip by bending over the decorative handle of an old spoon ( that's been cut off) and pop rivet it to the back of the sheath. You can just slide it over the top of your pants . Etc, etc 😊
Wear a belt. It is more than just to keep your pants up. I just bought two of these, onevfor seasoned green thumb grand father and one for me whos is noob at best. Seems like a obvious tool to have but hasn't seemed to catch on the states
Basil is a huge help for keeping away pests. I companion planted basil, leeks, peppers and tomatoes this season in Northern Lower MI, and had 0 pest pressure. To dehydrate, I set at 95° for around 3 days (I check daily for the crispy flaking when pinched) Thanks for your video!
Danke 👍
how do you like that compressed soil? I see those at home depot.
I like it! It seems to be good quality.
Hey Im here in Jackson County mi, what perennial fruits and veggies would you recommend? Im just starting at my home and want to have plants that come back year after year to harvest! Thank you much.
Hi there! Fruits are almost all perennials and vegetables are almost all annuals. Things like apple and peach trees, berry plants and bushes will continue to grow each year. Vegetables need to be planted every spring, but if you get heirloom varieties you could save their seeds and replant those the next year. Asparagus is the one vegetable that comes to mind that is a perennial. Hope that helps!
I think sun it a big issue with the Greenstalk. Even when turning it. My broccoli grew, but was reaching for the sun, and for some reason turned yellow.
I've seen several reviews of Hori Hori garden knives because I'm looking to also get one, but your review, by far, is the most down-to-earth of all. Great work and keep on gardening! 🙂
Well thank you so much! 🥰
Hello Carrie, are you gardening this year? I’d love to see an update.
Thanks for checking in! My computer has been giving me fits and I haven’t been able to create any YT videos in months. 😞 I do have a few things about this year’s garden saved in an Instagram highlight: instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE4MDEyNTY1MTU2NjA5MTAw?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA== Hopefully I’ll be able to get something posted here soon! 🤞🏼
Hi! Is that tool stainless steel?
Yes it is!
New subscriber here I am Michigan too zone 5 i have a channel as well
Oh my word the stopper for filling. Genius. I will do that in the future!
What ended up happening with the companion planting of carrots in here??
I actually never went back to plant anything else with them. 🙈 It ended up being completely a tower of carrots, which I was happy with and am doing again this year.
You could get a metal clip so the sheath can attach to your belt loop.
Use a carabiner on your loop.
Did you ever try the companion planting on the green stalks?
I'm just now starting to plan and plant for the new season (our last frost date is late May), so I'm still deciding what will go where...
@@faithfulfrugalfarmgirl ok, thanks for replying :). I just planted garlic with the peppers and green onion with the carrots. We’ll see how it goes!
Idk if you already found a solution, but a carabiner would be an easy way to attach the sheath to your beltloop.
Oh good idea! Thanks!
how do you like your green stalk and what cons do you have?
I’ve only used them for 2 growing seasons, but so far I really like them for growing vertically! Things like greens and carrots that take up a lot of space laid out along the ground get condensed into a smaller footprint and allow me to grow more in my limited garden space. The only con I can think of is that not everything can be grown in one, unless you look for very specific varieties like dwarf tomato plants or non-vining cucumbers.
Nice garde.n. As for your garlic the rule I learned is plant on Columbus day and harvest on the 4th of July.
Could put a carabiner on the sheath to hang from a beltloop
Thank you for sharing this I often wondered how the drop site looked. I’ve heard good things about Azure, we’re gonna give it a try soon.
Great tour! I love garden tours. We have that issue of the drain field too. Fellow Michiganders here, thanks for sharing.
Great info! Thanks for sharing!! Very helpful!
where did you get the small trellis?
The trellis overflowing with beans is a cattle panel, which can be purchased at farm supply stores. The cages holding up the pepper plants are called tomato cages, and are available in the spring at most any store that sells plants and seeds.
My drop coordinator has storage for dry, refrigeration and freezer. I am lucky.
That’s awesome!
Ok
Good job
Great job
You should record books great voice to listen too
Good job
Hori means digging in Japanese; Hori Hori = digging digging.
I love to see your garden grow! All of your hard work is worth it to get to see the new growth everyday and soon harvest! l’m harvesting my first fruits and veggies of the season. Everything taste so much better home grown doesn’t it? I still have so much to learn as gardener and RUclips creator and I appreciate your tips, tricks! I would love to learn more about gardening from each other. Happy Growing!
Great video and my wife and I also love Azure. A good value for your money for sure. New subscriber by the way and keep up the great work.
Azure , does it have home delivery ? Have never used it, don't know anything about it except for what I have heard on here ,and have looked on there grocery web sight . I do like what I see , but have no car if not delivered at home . Thank you .
They do deliver directly too! I'm not sure how much more expensive shipping is compared to shipping cost for the bulk drops.
Great ideas...how do you come up with them? I really like your dry erase board for freezer inventories.
That's a good word! Thanks Carrie!
Thatz pretty impressive, Carrie! I've been waiting for an Azure pickup to come to the Greenville area.. I have friends working on it but I guess it's a pretty intensive process! We just started getting raw milk, butter and eggs weekly from a farm. Excited to continue to grow and learn in this area...would LOVE to only go to the grocery store once a week 🤪 what are the main things you can every year? I always do tomatoes..last year I did pickles and I want to add applesauce to that this year as well. I'm still on the fence about grinding my own wheat, though I love the idea! Does it make baking any more difficult? Like is there a learning curve for any difference between freshly ground flour and store bought?
There are people who drive to the GR Azure drop from Cadillac and even farther north! They're trying to get one in Big Rapids-ish. They tend to stay near the highways. So far I've only canned tomato sauce, applesauce, peaches, salsas, jams, and pickle relish. We like the flavor of our vegetables frozen instead. There definitely is a bit of a learning curve. I wrote a blog post with tips: carrieroer.com/tips-for-using-fresh-ground-flour/ I've been doing it for about a year, and while it was intimidating at first, it's now second nature to me.
I love your tour 😀 so many good ideas! We say pop too. I’ve been thinking to get all my food organized bc it’s everywhere. 🤔
I love these ideas! Thank you so much!!! I feel so overwhelmed sometimes with no storage!
Don't know we're you live but, your shelf don't have z protector bar across bar in case of an earth quake . Everything will fall of the shelves. ?
We're in Michigan. :) We get tornadoes and snow, but earthquakes are pretty rare.
Todos los años preparo mermelada de moras silvestres, las recolecto de mi cerco ,me encantan.saludos.
New subscriber here. Loved the bulk food tour and layout. I have to use my basement as bulk storage and canning storage, but we have a huge basement, so it works out. My partner gets shelves from ULine and they're amazing.
I want help you
once you said grinding wheat Berrys, food storage, green stalk, and azure standard hauls I’m there and just subscribed to all the things on your channel.
Well thanks! 🥰
The dry erase board freezer inventory is so simple and may well change my life - or at least improve it significantly! Thanks!
Thanks for the pantry tour
