Добавлен 20 апр 2020
My name is Carlton Salters and I am currently an instructor at Total Athlete Sports in San Antonio. I have been an assistant coach at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) and Florida State. On my page you will find real conversations with players about various topics on hitting; zoom conversations and videos with players about swing changes. The "cage conversations" videos come from various practices sessions throughout the fall and spring. I hope the information in the videos is helpful to you on your journey.

What machine balls are you using? Thanks in advance!

The bat swings perpendicular to the spine.
Is keeping the trailing elbow low while in your stance something new? Since little league (many years ago) and through high school and into college, it was drilled into my head to keep my back elbow up, to not drop it for any reason? Is this a new technique that is being taught or was this just a missed form error?
@Crimson_Mysterium I'm sorry you were told many years ago to keep your elbow up. Some hold it up high than others because of style or preference but the back elbow always works down so you can leverage the bat.
@CoachCSalt It always felt odd, kind of out of place. I play in a 50+ league now and to be honest, I just don't hold it high anymore. But thank you for the information. It will be much easier to help my grandson.
quality coaching, showing and instructing, you love to see it
Look at her eyes. Heads not on contact.
@brettsadler4211 your eyes should stay in front of the ball not on the ball.
@@CoachCSalt just curious. who told you that? Ive never heard that and have never seen an elite hitter not have eyes on contact. ty
@computer-blue6381 have you done much vision research? You don't stare right at the object, once the ball breaks your line a sight you can no longer see it. You try to see the space in front of the ball. The ball should get clearer as it gets closer to you. If it becomes blurry it's broke your sight line.
@@CoachCSalt Yea but who is saying this? I want to listen or read what he/she is saying about it. thanks
@computer-blue6381 look up Tony Abbatine
Followed your instructions, as well as others who teach the same mechanisms, for my daughters. Neither played until their freshman year in high school. Both made All-League and oldest daughter was league MVP her senior year. NOBODY locally teaches this - none. I coached another girl, who also started her freshman year, for one season and her hitting average has gone down every year since.
Get her to stride leg stabilized. She is on a bent front knee. That will take away power. She will end up as an arm swinger only. Good job explaining how to turn the barrel and whip it
@brettsadler4211 her front leg lock at contact long enough to brace, it doesn't have to be locked out the entire time.
Nice swing
Upper Back and bat are one fused unit moving together with the hips.
Let that ball get deeper and drive, catch it n drive it. Youre on the right path, keep working. Get flatter and less wristy and you will see n feel the difference
I love softball❤
Okay you good for tb
💎
❤
Looking good! Ur teaching her well
Hooking is bad?
Based on the constraint, yes. If the ball was in and you pulled it high in the air that is good. If the ball was down and away and you pulled it low and near the bottom of the cage, then that is a poor rep, no good.
Those moves gon get you to the MLB girl!

That is a tough drill. Trying it with my grandchildren, along with some other things I see you do. All batting cleanup on their teams. Thank you Carlton. And good luck with your girls in 2023. I know they'll be knocking the covers off the ball
Thank you very much for the kind words. It is tough, make sure they are in a good position to start and the middle is the go.
Men of culture: we have arrived
Okay sooo whats the point that your making?
Actually pulling your hands inside of the ball is not what you want to do, it puts you in a poor position to deliver the barrel.
@@CoachCSalt OK, thats understandable. So in quick words, whats the alternative?
@Narell Stallworth ruclips.net/video/U8sZebkZ8fc/видео.html Hands should stay by the shoulders and the body brings the barrel not the hands.
That field looks tiny
She drops her elbow to early she needs to stay short but other than that that’s a really good swing
No she doesn't the back elbow coming down is a results of the pelvis opening. Her body is already stretched in this setup so its an immediate go from the middle.
@@CoachCSalt and what if the ball is inside or out not down the middle then she got no room for adjustment. Or maybe it’s because the softball comes from a different angle the a baseball
@@SLAAYYYYANTHONYTAGOVILOA she has plenty of room for adjustment.
@@CoachCSalt nah don’t think so
@TBH IDEK that is fine, you can have your opinion, we will just disagree.
