The reels I have don't have a levelwind that's why I have to use my thumb. The levelwind mechanism can affect casting distance. Thanks for the comment. Tight lines Louie

I was out there Friday and Saturday around 15MM the seaweed was horrible! Looks like it’s cleared out.

Haven't caught any Spanish yet maybe in the this fall. On my bucket list is to catch a Jack Cravelle over 40 inches on the fly. I had an opportunity in the spring but did not have the fly rods with me. Now I carry them from the spring until the start of winter so I'll be ready. As far as fly size from size 8 to 1/0 hook size. I'm a rank amateur fly fisherman but learning all the time. Thanks for the comment. Tight lines Louie

Hello I have been meaning to show a pic of the flies i have been using. if you check out the community on my youtube channel you can see a few. the ones at the top are ones i tied and they work just as well as the pretty store bought ones

Little shell starts at 13 miles down ending around 17 miles. Big shell starts around 17 and ends around 27 or so. The big shell area is also known as the high banks. These areas change slightly from year to year due to slight current and tidal variations. Thanks for the question. Louie
