HOW TO RE-USE YOUR ACTIVATED CARBON IN AQUARIUM!!
Просмотров 33 тыс.2 года назад
Re-use activated carbon. Activated carbon adsorbs a number of dissolved contaminants such as chloramine and chlorine, tannins (which color the water), and phenols (which cause odors). It will help keep aquarium water from turning yellow over time. « Music: www.bensound.com »

MICRO BUBBLE SCRUBBING WITHOUT USE OF A PUMP!
Using this for my 3d Printers and air purifiers! Thank you so much!! :D
Of course the activated carbon drawn in the glass due to wet, whereby the other is dry and newly heated it will first float and slowly dissolve in water. Common sense
If you follow this method on an established reef 🪸 tank , vermetid snails will be the least of your problems because you probably will kill or upset a lot of your corals
Great information there, not very costly but quite effective! Thank you
Dose it have to be a stainless steel pan ?
No not necessarily as long as it is done on high heat. .(Air fryer.)ect.
Wow! Great idea. I have a koi pond so tons of carbon - but it will still save a fortune re-charging it.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks definatly learned so everything 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Maybe in a mini air frier outdoors That would get it up to 400 degrees
The points in this video: Reduce feeding, keep detritus cleaned up, reduce flow, reduce calcium, use a uv sterilizer.
This is only going to cook off the volatiles, you need a zero oxygen high heat environment, around 800c.
Just a major tip, stop saying uh.... You said uh, uh, one million times in this video.
lol I will try 👌
How long did the first motor last?
I bought the equipment used with a noisy motor,so not sure how long it lasts. But once you know how to charge a motor there should be no issue on how long it last, also the motor is affordable.😃 Hope this helps .
Nice Idea ! Very good ! But the camera work makes me seasick. 🤢😁
Will Have to inprove on my camera work .🤓
Great video! Now that both Seachem Purigen and Activated Carbon can be regenerated, no more excuses to not use them both in a canister.
your process is interesting, i'm going to have to try it, but your conclusion is flawed. 1: the test should have been to head to head the freshly pulled carbon DRIED against the regen. 2: the bubbling says NOTHING about the regen. it's just releasing the air vs teh wet carbon which is still saturated. process=plausible, test=fail.
Great information!!!
Aaa....Aaa.... Aaa.... good bye.!
yea, no thanks lol 30$ for 30 lbs and it last like 6 years..
Where do you get it for $1 per pound ? Where I live its $20 to $40 per pound.
One of my tanks I only feed flakes, and pellets for coral feeding. The vermatid have definately been starved out this way. There wer alot of them when I transferred rock from my DT, but now theyre all white and pretty much gone. I'm right around a month + of doing this. Been doing the coral snow in the DT, and it doesnt seem to change alot
I heard you can just put it in the sun and not have to cook it.
Will have to try this one .
O yes ✅
Awesome, PE!
I ❤ how you repeatedly warned everyone to get permission 1st from your spouse. lol I can tell you got in trouble the 1st time. 😂
Funny that. I did 🤣
Very interesting video but to be honest I just couldn't be bothered doing all that panafanaila it's not expensive to buy the activated carbon, but thanks for the video 👍
@1969fishtank believe or not, I have subscribed to your videos 😉
@@fahimmahmad9731 Thank you so much ❤️
Neat! Thanks for testing and sharing idea. I’m sure that the organic matter is mostly ’burned’ off, leaving the minerals. But that’s fine for your aquatic pets. I bet if you were to heat it in an oxygen-poor chamber it’d reset the carbon to freshly activated form. 👍
Hi, did you just put the tubing straight into the containers and was it a tight fit?
Yes I drilled a hole just slightly bigger diameter the the tube so that it fits snugly. The reef dose 4 is still preforming well and not yet changed any heads or tube from the motor heads .
Careful how you re-release all the toxins it was made to absorb.... If re-heating in a household oven, surely they will just be released into your carbon filter cooking hood..? And bear in mind what the toxins might be - should they be released at all? And the electricity cost..?
If you reduce the water, you may not remove it... Basically, you are clearing the pores in the wood/charcoal are that were opened by the activation. You need water and maybe want soap to to remove the compounds that attach to the carbon.
I think if you heat it up as hot as you can and then throwing it in clean water would have the same efffect youre trying to do.
looks like air coming from the dry AC... YOU SHOULD HAVE TESTED IT
This can be dangerous and very toxic my friend, especially if you use it for filtering aquarius. All of that junk that it traps inside of its pores becomes very toxic at high temperatures. Definitely would do this outside or in a very very well ventilated area!
Right I thought I heard you can just put it in the sun?
@@dianeibsen5994 you would melt well before you reached the sun to put carbon in it!
I would be very careful doing this in a Paly or zoanthid tank.
so you are using an teflon pan thats scard.. nah..
Interesting. Never thought about reusing the charcoal. If I should get an aquarium, this should be useful.
That's not realistic for a lot of people you have to feed your fish
Yes of course. I removed all fish and stopped feeding cleaned all detritus and got to the stage where the sea water was crystal clear with no particular In which the vermatage where staved out my corals where fine .
feed flakes, and pellets
Releasing everything you filtered right back into the air?
Correct . Just remember I only reuse my own carbon. Pleases subscribe thank you .🙏🏽
My carbon footprint just increased 😂
Are you actually get a sense of satisfaction when I put superglue over there a little tubes and kill them
Thanks for making this video..very useful
Please subscribe thank you
Cool video, LOVE that fungia farm how did you acquire that?? I’ve been wandering if a small puffer would take them out.
Wow; What a tip, What a result ! Thanx a million..
Couldn't this process simplified by boiling the carbon in deep water only once then just baking it in the oven?
Yes the idea of boiling it a few time is so you are getting as much crap out of the carbon first and then yes bake it . If we had ovens that can produce extremely high heat would be great.👍
@@1969fishtank Ah, so we need more than conventional 220C(some ovens go 250C) of heat and that's why you use a pan; which can go well around 400C over a regular household gas stove. Does heat required in this process only to completely dry out the carbon granules or it serves some kind of purification? If it's only to dry it out, maybe 220C of a regular oven would suffice with longer periods of baking with occasional stirring of the carbon and airing out the steam inside the oven. I am going to try this with a 3 liters of carbon and doing that in pan, I have to repeat your method 12-18 times which is not feasible.
@@boneybone8123 heat is required for both purification and dry .
@@1969fishtank Thanks a lot for the info and conversing man!
@@boneybone8123 hey man your very welcome. If you haven’t subscribed pleases do .👍
Thanks for the making this video. I was hoping to see you tested in a more yellow water turns clear. I read several carbon regen method requires at least 800 degrees C to burn off whatever carbon absorbed. Your testing method between wet vs. dry bubbling might not be as effective to conclude that this regenerative technique is working. Good work still.
That heater should be on a 40% angle 🤣
Can it be microwave it?
Never tried that method would be interesting to know pleases share.
Really appreciate this video. However, what kind of water are you using? Am I hearing RR water?
Thank you . Yes RO.
Whats the name of that coral pls? Thanks
Hi Alex The corals in the tank are Fungia plate corals In the video there are abt hundred of them .
Pleases subscribe Tnx.
@@1969fishtank how fast will multiply?
@@alexflorin24 I keep them at low nutrient because they are in a separate tank to avoid algae , If I have abt 20 no3. And .5 po4 they seems to like that range and that is when they are at the happiest and grow from abt 5 penny to a £2 coin in 7 months To speed up the growth feed frozen mysis shrimp. Hope that helps .
Sorry to much work, gas, water carbon is not expensive
Hi I ready read the reviews on brs and most the people have issues with the pump, I’m try to buy one of this but I’m not after the reviews what you thoughts at the moment?
Pumps still running But I got to say they are noisy But it dose not bother me at all . Have not done any maintenance as of yet . Hope that helps .
I have not changed any head tube it motor so far yet .
WOW...Wish they were in London
@EconomicalReefer hi, great video, have being using the same method for many years but have never had the results scientifically, analytically tested for how well the process works, so thanks for your demo, appreciate. However getting lazy these days and with the cost of gas, wife pan issues, personal time used etc., find using new , just easier. But i see the cost range these days for activated carbon is quite large, 5 USA dollars in our country for 1kg, and going up to like 10 USA dollar and more for 1kg of the expensive brands of activated charcoal .... so i' m going back to your method. thanks again. and good luck with your wife's mercy..... hehe
Love your comment Peter. Wife has finally given up and gave me that pan (😂).
@@1969fishtank hehe yes , good news ...... i have some awesome tech i will share with you when things settle down my side ...... things are advancing quickly with water treatments, for plottable water .. and thus for home pool, potable drinking and of course for our aquariums
@@peterburmeister5762 look forward to it .👍
this method cant be used in a reef tank with corals, I may eliminate the vermetid but I'll kill all my corals in the process.
Hi Chris yes in some cases. WhT I had to do in my main display is to remove some of the high end sps, the remaining corals where plate fungia, Bali slimer , and hell fire torch ext which survived through the process.👍
Thank you-informative.
Glad to help 😊
