I learned this piece from sheet music and I interpreted it played low on the neck rather than near the 12th fret where most people play it. So cool to see another person interpret the piece this way!

Variation 1 is by no means easy, but I think it'd be bette if you play on equal tempo, at least throughout each variation (just one here). That's how Charles Berthoud did it, iihc (if I hear correctly)
