1. The music thing is a bug that has not been resolved (yet?). There are several other music bugs that are likely related, but they're a lot less noticeable, for example: check out how after the Rufus fight, the music track starts over. 2. If Tifa dies, I get Supernova'd which in itself is like a 2-minute animation, but also if I'm not able to recover afterward (like ran out of phoenix downs), at that point the fight would be unwinnable and I'd have to load my safety save and re-do final descent, Jenova, and Bizarro. The reason Tifa dying = Supernova when it used to be recoverable is I no longer grab the Long Range materia which is required to hit him after he flies up. Grabbing Long Range takes a minute or so, so it's a big time save to risk it.

@@willmatheson It is required. The guy in back of town will only trigger the Elena cutscene that leads to getting the snowboard if you have the map

@@willmatheson These kinds of details are likely to change as the route gets optimized, but for now I would say it's important for Tifa to gain levels for later, and also she throws grenades faster than Barret. What would the benefit of bringing Barret be?

A train there's no gettin' offa? But I'd expect that he would be stronger than Tifa until Tifa gets her power tools. But like you said, Tifa can benefit by gaining levels earlier than that. Playing casually, though, I would go with Barret and Red for Disc1Skip.

@@cho4d Yeah, I'm really not a fan of the Circlet steal, however there have been some route optimizations that make it even more important for now (Cloud with Organics+Circlet lets you Comet down J-Death, avoiding the Somersalt limit farm as well as making the Schizo fight more consistent)

@@eldoctorgero Depends on emulator settings. We are currently looking into changing some of that (and we also now allow Retroarch Swanstation) because Duck crashes at certain points with good load speed settings

@@MrHardCore24606 I can't remember if you can reach the junkyard field if you drive back to gold saucer prison. Only other enemy you can learn Laser from is in Nothern Cave. One option would ve to steal a bunch of T/S Bombs from Flapbeats in the gold saucer world map area, that's an item that casts Laser. You'd need like 20 though

@ ty so much. I just went back to the junkyard prison to get it. I guess my next question is, dose the buggy have to travel precisely on the center line of each triangle or can it be on either side as long as there is no diagonal movement? Buggy keeps breaking down.

@DashRetro Yeah, that was what I thought when I noticed it in the movie, but... have you ever wondered about the storyline in FFVII and why it's so similar in the greater arcs to other stories in JRPG's. There's a whole (cultural) history behind that that involves the threats and invasion of a foreign nation (English colonialists), and it's even visible in common Japanese language. It really seems to be far more than just a funny similarity. I mean, youth doesn't remember such history and they just grow up in the current (social/political) climate, barely learning about it, if the culture/politics allow it. We did where I live and it greatly increased understanding for our neighbours who had invaded our country less than a century ago. And in America, learning history is considered woke now and is heavily discouraged and frowned upon by loud people. In Japan, I don't know. I don't watch a lot of Japanese media and they don't seem to mix with western media a lot. But I do know that a lot of it is based on keeping up appearances, and honour, and all that jazz, and I can imagine dissenting voices having their own Japanese "punk" culture so to speak. I imagine that knowing how to cuss is a large part of it - knowing the "proper" slang to connect, you know, without sounding like an awkward dad of course, which is exactly what I would do, but at the same time I would like to help them by normalizing deviating from norms, as contradicing as that might seem. I think a lot, I'm sorry 🤣 I just love doing that! I sometimes wish I could do what you do, and then I think to myself, I'm kinda fine with mine. I'll look into it, rhe whole Japanese cussing slang. I have a very strong feeling there is more to it than just looks, but at the same time sometimes looks are good enough, you know what I mean? It feels alright. @@willmatheson During the breeding process, feeding is used only to advance the RNG state and doesn't matter which chocobo is fed, so the first on the list is fastest, however we don't have a gold at that point. The 45 Sylkis greens shoukd definitely have gone to the gold, and I should have already released every non-gold chocobo at that point.

@DashRetro I think it might just be that I'm not used to how dark the chocobo appears (especially in the feeding screen) compared to the console version. Anyway, you rode it across the ocean and it doesn't slow down in the space part of the race!

@@willmatheson Equipping a materia for the purpose of lowering the character's max HP, then unequipping it to bring the max back up, leaving a small amount of missing HP on the character. The reason to do this is we often use Laser to reduce Tifa's HP to 25% or below (to activate the Powersoul) which should take 2 Lasers because each one does 50% of the target's current HP in damage, however when the game calculates that 50%, it rounds down, so if the character's HP is not a multiple of 4, then 2 Lasers will leave them with just over 25% and not in Critical status. If we notch first, that little bit of missing HP will resolve that issue.

@@eldoctorgero Check the FF7 speedrun discord (linked on the SRC page) for an autosplitter. I think one exists for emulator yeah. For upscaling, it is fine but will make some of the visual cues look different. Glad you are enjoying!

@@matttrent946 Yeah, casually, I would absolutely not recommend this skip because you miss out on a Mystile as well as both Barret and Cait's ultimate weapons

@@DashRetro LMFAO, i never took note of that; as polar opposite the two of them are, both their Ultimate Weapons are found in the same unrevisitable section of the game. i wonder how intentional that was on the developers part. and yeah, i need my W-Item ASAP (Bone Village apparently has one if you miss it, but i dont like to mess w/ routine all that much)
