Where is VANLIFE taking us this year? | Travelling with a Maine Coon!
Subbed :) and Taco is beautiful!
Cheers Dan! He is a handsome boy isn’t he 😅
we are planning on towing our caravan through france to the east coast of spain near alicante. would you be able to recommend any places to stay along the way or things to see through france?
In terms of park ups, there’s far too many to recommend. Download the app park 4 night and get searching around the location you’d like to stay, you’ll find endless options! Again with places to see, most of the eastern side along the border is incredible. Loudenvielle was a standout place, just before you cross into Spain within the Pyrenees :)
Good to know that Aldi/Lidl is so much cheaper, we’ve avoided it because we both LOVE the whole supermarket experience, but the budget is definitely taking a bit hit from it. Especially with visiting Grand Frais supermarkets - very expensive but oh so gorgeous 🤩
Yea it definitely is cheaper, and when we come back we will be using it more for sure. Completely agree that going into the big supermarkets is fun though, all part of the experience :)
We’re currently in France and 100% agree with all of your points! The free park ups here are just mind boggling, especially at this time of year. Tonight we’re parked up on sand dunes next to a lake surrounded by forest it’s absolutely stunning. The roads are generally in great nick too, although every now and then we get caught out and our old LT35 rattles in an alarming way 🤣 And then there’s the food… say no more about that and those pesky supermarket bills 🫣 Bon voyage mes amis, hope to see you on the road! 🚐💨
There's so much to love about France isn't there, we can't wait to come back! Dune Du Pilat by any chance? We visited on our way back up, it's a wicked place! There's always going to be difficult roads, but on the whole they're still better than in the UK. Glad you're having a good trip, enjoy the rest of it :)
That was good value. If you had discovered the 'Aldi hack' sooner you could have saved £200 perhaps. I think eating out and experiencing culture is essential. Glad you had a good trip!
Yea it would have been handy, we'll know for next time though :) We could be better in terms of eating out, but like you say, that's all part of it!
Great to see no silly introductions and annoying background "music"! A refreshing change from all the Guy Ritchie wannabes on here.👌
Glad you enjoyed it, we try and be as straight to the point as we can be :)
Shame your van doesn’t have a shower and toilet, then you’ll be self sufficient. Nice video. Those sunglasses are Uber trendy, what’s Amy on about?
We do have a toilet and shower! Glad someone likes the sunglasses haha ;)
I always watch my budget when travelling, as like yourselves, I have to adhere to my budget. Breaking down the costs and comparing helps with better budget planning.
It’s super important isn’t it, the better you stick to it, the more adventures you can have 😍😍
Very useful! Thanks! A UK comparison would be good as we are just about ready with our Sprinter conversion and intend to do a UK road trip in February.
Hey Gary! We will definitely get a UK Costs video together, it might not be before you do the UK road trip though I'm afraid! Any plans on where you're heading yet?
Fab video you fabulous couple! Thankyou!
Ahh thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it :)
whatever you do don't eat olives straight of a tree, you'll regret it straight away.
We were sooooo close to trying them! Super glad we didn't now haha, thanks for the heads up!
Thank you for making these videos. They are really helpful for those of us planning longer trips around Europe. Although I suspect our wine and beer bill might be a little higher :) What you spent is pretty much exactly what I had budgeted for a month (other than the ferry or chunnel getting to Europe)
That’s amazing that you’re finding them useful :) you say that… We found a bottle of port for under 2 euros in one shop 😜 that’s great news, sounds like you’ll be fine then! Where are you planning to visit?!
@Thenomadpurr 2 euros! Wow, I think we'll be okay then. I haven't planned any where yet but we hired a campervan in Portugal before we purchased our Sprinter. We wanted a positive van experience somewhere it didn't rain all the time! Can't wait to go back.
Yep, you'll be ok haha! Sometimes that's the best way. Something we found on our trip is that even with the best plan, everything can change super quickly which then throws out the rest of the plan! We were due to head down the east coast of Spain, into Valencia then further south. But a week before we got there the floods hit, which meant the last 5 or 6 weeks completely changed! Are you due back soon? We can't wait either!!
Try to find Quinta Do Infantado ,Marvelous port wines handcrafted,300 years heritage.🎉
This sounds incredible, we’ll have to when we come back to Portugal!
Less than £320 p/w that's good going .Its been great watching your trip.Take care you 3😺. have a good new year look forward to your uk vlogs
When you put it weekly, it doesn’t sound that bad at all with all the driving we have done! Glad you’ve been enjoying the videos, hopefully you enjoy what’s to come! Happy New Year!
Please definitely do a uk comparison vlog
This is definitely something we will make in spring! We have another trip very soon 😜 so we’ll make it after that :)
Yes, your costing is about right. Food has shot up over the last few years, but I think prices are starting to fall back a bit now. You have to shop around and go to Lidl or Aldi, look at prices before you buy because most of the chain price things differently in different areas. I think only Lidl is consistent in their pricing everywhere in France. Also, keep an eye out for special offers. France only has sales periods twice a year, usually January and June, but they do reduce things regularly. Pick up one of their leaflets when you visit to keep track of what's on offer. Not all aires are free, there are many you have to pay at, basically depends on their popularity. The basic idea is to get you to stop and visit the local businesses. But wild camping is largely tolerated, which save campsite fees. Most / many french speak English especially in the larger towns, but I think they get fed up with the Brits that don't even try to speak french. That's understandable given the number that live here permanently or have holiday homes here. The french don't have to speak to you, so why should they make an effort, it's your problem not their's. And finally, a point for your return. Everyone seems to travel either east or west of France, so do yourself a favour a try a more central route. The Lot, Corrèze, Haute Vienne, Indre, have so much to offer but are seldom visited properly. I would encourage you to check them out. Safe journey.
Thank you for the in depth response! I think we have learnt that we need to maximise Lidl and Aldi next time we head back, that'll free up some money to enjoy the boulangeries! Yep, very true with the aires. Most of the time we don't need anything fancy, and generally you can find an aire which has waste facilities and not have to pay. If we want a nice shower in a brick building etc, then that's when the paid campsites come in handy. Completely agree with the French speaking, it's on us not them. Just like if they came over here, not many brits speak that much French! Very interesting with the central route, will bear that in mind for future trips, thanks!
This looks to be a compilation of all of your Europe travel videos into one long video.
You’re correct, we have trimmed out a few bits to keep it flowing better. But we thought it would be nice to have everything in one place, so people can dip in and out and not lose where they’ve got to :)
Wow 2hr 30ish mins epic 😊 merry Christmas to you both
Hey Monty! We hope you enjoy it 😍 Thank you, Merry Christmas 🎅🤶😸
Merry Christmas 🎄👌💙❤️
Happy Christmas!!! Hope you have a great day!!
Merry Christmas Guys. Have really enjoyed your whole journey and thanks for sharing it. I will look forward to whatever comes next. Safe travels.
Thank you Martyn, we hope you have a great day! Ah appreciate the kind words. Our next trip is a biggun ;) that’s all we’ll say for now… 😅
Ghent looked lovely! The dinner more so! 12 pigs in blankets for 2 people and one cat is a pretty good ratio! Happy Christmas!
It’s an incredible place, well worth a visit that’s for sure! Haha.. Can’t have enough of them ;) thank you, hope you have a lovely Christmas!
1200 miles was well worth it for the waffle :) Have a lovely Christmas and keep up with your travels and vlogs.
It was a good waffle haha, we should have tried a few other toppings whilst we were there I reckon! Thank you, hope you have a great one!
Great video as always guys ❤️ who’s that handsome young fella at the start 😂😂 been so good following along with your trip! It definitely seemed worth the drive for the waffles! How mice is Gent 👌🏻
Cheers Jack! Lovely cameo by yourself, but it was also your fault I had to drive about 15 hours for a waffle 😅 glad you’ve enjoyed it, we’re so sad it’s come to an end… some mega plans going forwards though 🙊 Ghent is awesome!! Would happily visit again :) have a great Christmas!!
Really enjoyed the video until the Starbucks 😂
😂😂😂 harsh, but we’re glad you enjoyed it 😅 Merry Christmas!
Hmm... I'd love some of your waffle 😏
We want that waffle 😍😍 love the van Christmas dinner!! Have a lovely Christmas guys enjoyed your video!
Hahaha they were both so good!!! The dinner wasn’t bad either ;) hope you guys have a great Christmas 🎄🎄🎅🤶
@@Thenomadpurr we drove to cologne, Baden Baden, Chamonix and Jung Frau in Switzerland for Xmas last year, Christmas in a van is awesome!
Oh that sounds amazing!! We’re thinking of going for 3 months again over next winter, but possibly a month later so we can be in the south of Spain for Christmas! But we’ll see, a lot can happen in that time :)
@@Thenomadpurr do it! Some of the Santander ferries weren't that expensive last xmas
I want that waffle again right now! 😍
They were sooooo good 🤤 can we go back? 😍😍
Could have dropped potatoes in with the meat- roasters are a must Tip too- always put a lid on saucepans - helps a prevent condensation
Happy Christmas
We did miss them, but mash with gravy wasn't a bad alternative 🙊 our air fryer is pretty small, with 10 pigs in blankets and the beef, we didn't have much room left! This is something we might have to upgrade :)
Thank you Andrew, we hope you have a great time! Are you lucky enough to have some time off over the next few days? :)
Another great vid guys Take care on you trip to Belgium
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it :) appreciate the kind words ✌️
Porto looked like a really interesting place. Your van is lovely but BIG for city driving so it must have been nice to park up and relax.
Ahh it’s such a mega city! We’re not hugely city people, but it had a really nice feel and charm to it… plus there’s flat whites available 😂😂 You’re right though, having somewhere that felt safe for us to leave Taco for a few hours meant everything. Gadgets are replaceable, our boy isn’t!
Wow Porto looks amazing! Great video guys, really enjoyed it 😊
Glad you like enjoyed it! Port was lovely :)
Porto looks lush! That park up so close to the beach is perfect - Oslo would love it 😅 great video guys! ❤️
It was lovely! Such a vibrant city, we would definitely recommend it. You guys would have loved those cocktails too ;) Yea the beach was great actually, super warm and empty at the end of November haha :)
Followed you since the start great to see you guy are growing your channel.
Hey Sarah, thanks so much for being there for us 😍😍 we’re trying our best to grow :))
Great video. Fantastic views. Pros and cons with m’home v van. I sometimes struggle width-wise with my Sunlight, but never with length at 5.95m 👌💙❤️
That’s really interesting to know thank you! I can’t say we’ve ever struggled with the width of our van, or the length to be fair even with it being 7m. So maybe we are best off sticking to something like what we know.
u can soften bread by running water over it and then warm in oven or microwave
Ah that’s a great tip thank you!
Having seen a French MH wedged between two walls in Sussex, I will stick with my Sprinter. Love your vids guys. TFS
Where in Sussex was that? We’re from that way so know it well :) it doesn’t surprise us at all though, so of those little streets around Midhurst and Petworth etc can be quite narrow haha :)
Glad you put your cap back on Luke, looks like you are having a bad hair day 😂 Looking forward to seeing you guys at Christmas!
10 weeks without a trim that is 😂😂 likewise! Not long now!!
I'm loving this trip your on. I look forward to every Monday.Stay safe you 3 I'm including Taco😻
Aww that’s so kind! We’re glad you’re enjoying the trip :) we’re loving it too haha ;) Taco is staying very safe don’t you worry, he’s a little princess 😂
We've had campervans and a tiny moho. The moho was great inside with the squareness and head height but awkward to drive. We liked that it was fibreglass, well insulated, stayed cooler for our dogs. Glasses look good 👍
We hadn’t even thought about them staying cooler, but that would be a great plus point with Taco. Being awkward to drive sounds hassle though! It won’t happen anytime soon, but thank you for the feedback! Yayyy, one vote for the glasses 😂
Great job guys, we did the N2 last winter in a 6.99 motor home, a brilliant road trip and the Portuguese people are very nice
Ah how did you find the N2? Anything you’d do differently now that you’ve done it? We might end up doing it this time next year and spending some time down south and into southern Spain :)
Great video guys! We've thought about getting a MH too.. But we like being able to get down narrow roads so not convinced yet! Maybe in a couple of years when we get Oslo a little friend 🥰 (to clarify, another dog.. Not a baby 😂).
Thanks guys! It's such a dilemma isn't it, especially after you've been in one and get back to your van and wonder where all the space has gone haha! Oooooh that's news! That could very well be the time to do it though ;)
Cool video Guys, you certainly liked the port Luke lol really enjoyed it 🎥👍
Thanks John! It went down too well... And keeps going down just as well since 😂 We're now addicted and not even sorry!
She has my kind of meal 3:09
Beautiful channel subscribed from Italy! Ciao!
Thank you so much!! We are planning to visit Italy in spring, we’ve never been before 😍😍
Portugal looks lush, that old ruin looked interesting, great views, is looks greener than Spain. That meal you did with creamy leeks looked good, I use cream cheese to make creamy sauces and casseroles hadn’t thought of using Boursin before. 😊 xx
Portugal was lovely! We really didn’t want to leave (there’s still more videos to come from there 🙊) next year we’d like the do the N2 route which runs from North to South! Boursin is really good! I did make it a little bit runny though, but we’ve got another in the fridge to try again, with some crème fraiche this time! Xx
