Great playing! Tele is a very special. For me fender single sounds better than their humbacker on american performer for jazz.

Thanks Adrian. I enjoyed the video and agree with you that the Eastman provides the tone I like best. I own an Ibanez which I think is not as alive. I use flatwounds and favour the neck pick-up.

P90 is the happy in between, kinda.

Depends on the gig really. I love the sounds of all of them. For different things. In a loud band, the Ibanez wins though, it is not going to squeal. They others will, and relatively quickly. I have first hand experience with all the above. And I'm talking jazz combo, trumpet, gtr, bass, drums. These are all great guitars though.

Well done. I have (and have always had) flatwounds on my Gibson ES-175. I played a funk gig with this guitar someone in the band told me my guitar sounded 'dead' or 'the strings sound old'. I tried to explain that is just a possible tone on an electric. Nevertheless, I'm tempted to try rounds; or maybe half-wound or ground-wound strings. Have you tried those? What I find is 'that sound' (an arch top with flats) almost 'makes' me play a certain way because that (glorious!) vintage tone.

Hello, I’m trying to choose between the Es-335 or fender tele ultra. Seems like the tele sounds just as good, but is a lot less in price.

I don't think the Heritage has enough loudness and projection to work well as a strictly acoustic jazz box. So the question is, how much of the acoustic quality of the Heritage translates into the amplified signal? I believe that while some of the guitar body resonance is transferred through the pickups, it is very subtle. You may notice a little bit of 'boxiness' in the electric signal of a nicely resonant hollow-body electric guitar. If you're playing a very quiet live gig, a mix of the Heritage amplified and acoustic sound is really nice.

Excellent comparison and review. With the same musical example played every possible way on three very nice guitars, it's easy to get a sense of the strengths and characteristics of each one. The fact that you play very well is refreshing. So many equpment videos feature players with very limited skills. I wish all videos could be this comprehensive and, most importantly, useful. Well done and very nice playing.
