It's been 30 years... Clips are from: A Glorious Return | Exandria Unlimited | Episode 3 (1:13:30) The Feast | Critical Role: VOX MACHINA | Episode 24 (1:05:35) #ExandriaUnlimited #CriticalRole #DungeonsAndDragons
I listened to this as a podcast so I didnt get to see the amazing reactions to Laudna's backstory at first but I'm glad i watched this
STILL BOTHERS ME TO THIS DAY! Those poor people were totally innocent and did nothing wrong to deserve what happened to them! And the children! Don’t even get me started on that! I do like the concept of Laudna being the Vex double and I can’t EVER UNSEE THAT now, and she is one of my favorite characters in C3 with Imogen. I’m rooting for her to kick Delilah to the curb once and for all! And maybe become really, actually, completely and totally alive once this war ends!
I love how during C3 we see Laudna playing with her hair, like she trying to get the paint out of her hair
If Bells Hells get its own show, I guess that will be the first appearance of Laudna.
Ahh, Percy's backstory. The gift of in-game trauma drama that keeps on giving.
5:10 Marisha's grin, you can see how excited she is for this moment. As she should be, this was one of the best moments in CR history. Absolutely brilliant.
You know whats creepy each time matt say dangling his head enacts the motion
This is my favorite reveal of all of the campaigns because Marisha made an amazing character backstory with such a huge call back to a horrific moment that happened many years ago.
Wait so is Laudna's entire character the woman we saw swinging from the tree that was meant to look like Vex? Is that why they cut her ears?
Yes. Correct.
Get someone who looks at you the way Matt looks at Marisha at 6:53
My group did a one shot where we played the of the people hanging in the tree. I was the Percy one, I got a gun and everything. We'd been asking a our DM for months to do a campaign in Exandria or at leas a one shot. Boy did we get it.
This might be the character tha suffered the most for other people sins, she didn't deserved this... but is so great to see her happy and being able to love herself and being loved by her new found family ❤❤
God.... I love just watching everyone's face as they realize who Laudna was. Ashley looks at Lauren just like "Wait...is she...?" And Taliesin just taking it all in.
Watching everyone’s reactions is by far my favorite part
I want to hug Laudna greatly, that poor girl. I was kind of hoping that her sister would come back to life and they would be reunited.
I want to hug ALL of them.
Laudna’s back story, especially with the context of C1, is utterly tragic and heartbreaking. Every time it’s mentioned I tear up. Even though it’s fiction, everyone must have felt responsible thinking back to C1. It was obviously on purpose, but that kind of campaign connection just eats you. It’s fucking brilliant.
You lnow this is old when you realize Orion was being nice
Watching Taliesin and Ashley react to the sun tree stuff was gold
Laudna was a lot more D toward the beginning. Now that she’s revived I hope to see the real deal Laudna and her badass sorceress self
I would pay good money to see Sam bring up the "Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" bit from Top Gun somewhere in a campaign
I remember watching that episode in C3 when it aired and that fucked me up.
Liam's: "Respectfully, so fucking what?" Is an absolutely killer line.
God Marisha's physicality as Laudna is mesmerizing and creepy
I hope they make a show of campaign 2 and 3 like they did for Vox Machina
All depends on how much support and love the cast and both the dnd show and animated show gets during its tenure, which is safe to say a fucking lot
@@oriandthesleepytime Wait, really??
Laudna was hung by a rope. Her pet rat is hung by string.
They've exchanged letters with Vex! Imagine what would happen if they met
I would love for them to accidentally meet Vex when she's in the woods around whitestone (so she would be in her more adventure-y attire) and Laudna getting all PTSD-y from seeing the clothes. But I think it would be a bold choice to bribg old characters up (like in person, not only through voice) because would Matt play them? Would their original player play them?
On the one hand, can't wait, on the other let's wait until they're higher level because Vox Machina are level 20 and if Laudna sets off Percy or Vex's very justified PTSD with the one two combo of being undead AND being connected to Delilah that will end extremely poorly for Bells Hells lol. We're talking scorched earth policy here people. How many times do we have to kill you Delilah?!?!?!?!
@@rmoenmjea Matt's already said he would play them if it happens, they're NPC's now and it's 30 something years in the future, it would make no sense for them to play their old characters, they wouldn't know what to do. They have Zero context for their lives and wouldn't be able to make decisions for them or interact in the world now and Matt is the only one who knows what's going on and can use them for plot purposes.
I was driving to work listening to that episode where they see the sun tree for the first time. At first I thought they were maybe bandits, and then I thought they were a message for someone, and when grog was described, I realized who the message was for. It was a weird workday but I still feel the same as then. Fuck the Briarwoods.
this, by far is one of the darkest moments in any campaign, period.
I love the look in Taliesin's eyes when Launda says "sometimes it doesn't even feel like me, different life, you know?"
WAIT! If Laudna has sorcerous origins that saved her in the necromantic blast, then her siblings and at least one of her parents has some sorcerer in them. They could have also ‘survived’.
They could have, but sorcerous origins can work in weird ways, not just hereditary. She could just be born under a weird moon or could have been blessed by some mighty entity. Or it could be hereditary but skips generations in weird ways
@@ToabyToastbrot or even if it was hereditary it could likely skip generations. I mean laudna says it herself that her parents were naive and thought her powers could be developed with the briarwoods. which implies that they didn't have powers since they didnt know what to do with hers.
They rounded up several villagers, it doesn't mean that the other hung people were Laudna's family. She even said in game that she lost her connections to family AFTER the Vox Machina attack. That wasn't HER family on the tree.
doubt it. Lady Briarwood's being in her head I'm sure has more than just a little to do with it.
@@captin3149 It literally was her family on the tree. She said that is was in the episode.
She's not the blonde child, right? That one represented Pike. Laudna was Vex, barely shown at 14:49
She was the vex duplicate
Actually she was pike her mother was vex
@@emilerose7441 Nah, Marisha literally says at 12:11 that she was the Vex double. Laudna didn't age post-resurrection, so she couldn't have been the Pike double.
@@emilerose7441 pike didnt have one
@@emilerose7441 Laudna is the Vex body
I doubt it because I think it's been in development for a hot second but do you think anyone knew about Laudna while developing Vox Machina
It’s possible, apparently Sam had the idea for FCG roughly before C2 ended so possible they planned it a bit.
Campaign 1? maybe after the tree reveal. The show? Yes if ya look at vex's double it acts different from the other corpses when they are turned into the undead army by deliah making me think that's how laudna became a hollow one. Only realize this after multiple rewatches since the camera focus on the sun tree corpses esp laudna for a split second as the spell takes hold and she doesn't rise or turns to dust when the spell ends or when pike uses turn undead near the tree.
Maybe Marisha came up with the concept while working on LoVM.
@@Starsaber222 based off what I know marisha didn't have a huge part in the show. She's busy leading the twitch channel. I think maybe it played some part but not as large as say Travis & Sam.
Everyone's faces.... Oh WHAT a reveal! The kind of reveal that DMs and us PCs live for.
Video would have been a 10/10 but a random blur was between Sam and M so it killed my joy
You could tell Aabria was a little disappointed when Dorian chose to talk to Gilmore rather than flirt with Sherri. She gave so many hints lol
13:14 well…. she got what she wanted. in the worst way possible. also, i would love to see Laudna cross paths with Vex. that would be a harrowing conversation for both characters i think.
dang just imagining Laudna seeing the woman she died to send a message for and changed her entire life forever gives me chills. Also, if that wouldn't have happened, she wouldve never met Imogen
@@Anzy.99 okay but, imagine Vex seeing Laudna and just instantly being brought back to that moment. Seeing this literal corpse, the life that was taken to threaten her specifically, just walking around with very little care in the world outside of the norm. Then imagine Laudna walking up to her, not putting two and two together at all, and just saying hello.
If vox machina cross paths with laudna and find out who is in her head, it is very possible that blood will be spilled. From the point of view of VM, would you let her live? I wouldn't let her go. I would even get angry with Orym for not giving notice of the situation. And all this without mentioning BH's reaction. I want it to happen so much just for the drama.
@@McFloT I doubt it. The only reason she poses any kind of threat at all is because of Delilah. And I think their response would be more "How can we help her get rid of her connection to Delilah" rather than "She's evil let's kill her'.
@@cryofpaine It wouldn't be a "she's bad, let's kill her" it would be more of a "unfortunately delilah briarwood lives inside you and delilah briarwood must die"
“Well of course. The worse thing that will ever happen to me has already happened” Chills every time!
I am a little concerned about Matt's look at the 6:53 mark.....it is either "wow that is my wife delivering a great line" or a DM looking like, "ok, challenge accepted."
That’s crazy, almost identical to what I’ve been telling my different therapist for years.
@@jsbcody he did almost kill her again like 3 times in a single episode before this
@@Kris-wo4pj Maybe killing Laudna isn't the worst thing that can happen to her......maybe killing Imogen or FCG would be the worst thing that could happen to her, especially if Matt spun it as Laudna's fault.
Marisha’s best line.
Oh my god i never realised the antlers were nailed to her head. Oh god
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to unlearn that. I was so shocked by the initial visual that I didn’t even think to look closer, but now that some of the details were pointed out, I’m genuinely more horrified. Looks like the visions of that scene are gonna return in my brain sometime soon. 😅
laudna was hung to represent Vex, not Keyleth.
WOW... I've been watching since C1, and this connection didn't even dawn on me... Nice catch! 😅👍
ruclips.net/video/kre27f30IVs/видео.html in the original is when Matt / Sherri describes the books, a few minutes before the song. In case anyone's curious, Scanlan was singing to Sherri about the books Keyleth wanted, which she learned alchemy from so she could brew healing potions, given time and materials. (I was curious if it was those books, and wanted to watch the rest of the cast get in on the song; this video is a fun edit with zoom-ins on Matt and Sam, but that loses some of Laura and Travis snapping along, and other's reactions and contributions that were fun to re-watch.)
0:43 The Moment Sam is about to let it go but sees that the others are still going and decides to go all in
really! Sherri baby performance by the scanman was one of my fav things from the 1st campaign....
mercer knows whats up instantly
😂 I loved that
I love the fact that in the thumbnail she looks like she's haunted by the ghost of Sam Riegel just constantly singing songs in her head.
She asked, and received.
HOW does someone even remember that??? This woman has a photographic memory!
never forget whenever you flirt with a NPC you flirt with the DM
See, and if you skipped early C1 you would have missed this wonderful callback.
aight. well thank you for reminding me i need to press forward through vox machina's adventures. It's way to easy to burn out after binge watching
