I think, tactically speaking, you should position the battery so that you can line it up in the orientation that slides in without requiring you to twist or turn it. Also, maybe a body cam so you can use both hands (or a cleverly placed bungi that you could pin the cover up and flick it off quickly) again for improved tactical advantages. Keep up the good fight.
