Engine Warm - Part 2 R53 Cooper S has just had the GTT Light Weight alloy flywheel ( Helix Clutch) and GTT camshaft fitted. The video demonstrates 3 things:- Virtually no gearbox chatter after ditching the standard dual mass flywheel. Good smooth & stable idle quality retained . A quick video to show how a badly worn supercharger will eventually lose all drive to the water pump, which is driven via a forked drive off the rear end of the charger.     I have helix organic friction plate and luk pressure plate and it slips. I changed the friction plate amd the metal ring on the flywheel and the pressure plate, made sure everything was all fitted correctly and it still slips. Any ideas? Only a cooper not s super charged model

      The R53 has a different flywheel than a R50, you cannot put a R53 flywheel on a R50 and vice versa, maybe you bought a R53 flywheel instead of a R50 one

      @@bartog1800 I have driven my car for around 3000 miles with a standard dual mass flywheel from an r53 and around another 1500 on a lighter valeo solid conversion kit, for an r53, as the revs were heavy and restricted due to the weight of the flywheel and no supercharger to compensate. The head gasket went and I replaced the engine and duro g the process sourced an allot gtt flywheel to gocve the best possible snappy rev response. Since this conversion the clutch has slipped despite replacing the clutch plate, the pressure plate and the gtt steel ring, twice. You sure can run the setup I am using, infact it is the only solution when the midland box fails and you wa t to replace it w8th a six speed getrag instead of another crappy midland box. I changed the box, shafts, selector, clutch and flywheel, clutch slave cylinder, fitted shor throw shifter and it all worked like a dream with the valeo solid conversion. Wish I had kept it and never messed woth gtt. I'm sure they are good but the service is atrocious. So i have a Getrag six speed conversion on my r50, and only need answers why there would not be enough clampforce and slippage on the gtt flywheel, helix friction plateand luk pressure plate and bearing set up. Not a lecture on how whay I had working doesnt work from people who don't know. But thanks. Sorry for my reply. Do you have anything of help?

      @@bartog1800 it does if you have a getrag 6 speed conversion when the midland fails and you don't want to refit another crappy midland box. It had an r53 dual mass and the revs were restricted so I fitted a valeo 4p solid conversion and it ran great for 1500 miles or so till head went. When the head gasket went I had opertunity to get a gtt and I did, I have had issues ever since and the aftermarket service is diabolical. I want to know about clamp force and known problems not what can't be done thats already been done by many. With respect

      The getrag conversion is tried and tested at this point by many. Box, shafts, clutch and flywheel, selector, clutch slave cylinder all swapped for r53 items and it ran mint on a valeo 4p r53 solid flywheel set up. Wish I'd just left it tbh, might go back to the valeo and bin the gtt

    Hi very helpful video! Do I have to lubricate the rotors or blades with oil as well for cooper s r53?! I recently did overhaul of my supercharger washed everything with petrol, did fill the oil accordingly at the pulley side 145ml and water pump or rear side 40ml, but didn't add any bit to the rotors so um just curious!

    The tooling required holds both bottom ends of the shafts and the rotors in the Precise position before the gears can be removed or reinstalled. the tool also has to tie into the front mounting plate inorder to get the correct end float Clearance. think of it like a cradle. Its not hard to make the tool for this but you do need a perfect supercharger to get the correct measurements. 😉

    Google Search US Patent "US4638570A" "Supercharger assembly and rotor phasing fixture and method of partially assembling" The "secret device" was originally patented by Eaton, so theres a reason they arnt showing it. You're welcome 👍

    I'm confused about saying pulling the gears off effectively leaves you with a scrap charger, so can you time the rotor packs or not? cheers

      Nothing is inpossible actually I manage to rebuild a Eaton for my cooper s with a little research you can find. The parts online ....and the supercharger run fine after 4 years no problem ,,,but I would go with sprintex replacement not with a rebuild if I had to pay for a rebuild by someone,,,,,

      Michael scheid have to make a spacer to keep The space between Rotors ,put back rotors but not The gears check The space several times and then slide The gears not one at The time but together by hand in a point that can be fixed by handrotating them when you Are sure than take out again rotors and pres The gears in little by little......but actually in a mini The pto Seal is The problematic The snout part never had an isue if i would reduit i would change The pto Seal with a better quality one like skf Chicago rawhide i beleve is The 6115 Seal if i not mistake
