    I have always wondered why people would think praying to dead folk would provide any sort of advantage. I do know many still do that, but it seems a tad silly to me. It is right up there with the idea one creature no one has ever seen as far as I can tell made everything and controls everything. Must be some sort of advantage to either type of religion, but the disadvantages seem to be more important to think about. Obviously the game maker thought it was necessary to put one of many possible religions into the game and restrict progress if ignored.

      Maybe they have a "quiet conversation" with their ancestors ( what would they have done in his/her shoes ) Religion aside, parents are always there to help their children... In younger age you think that you know the best...but the older you get the more you start to ask...

    You don't seem to say much, so it is hard to know what you are thinking from moment to moment that influenced your activities. I do admit it seems odd the smart folk seem to think this is how mankind started with settlements knowing roaming around was much easier in so many ways, as some still do. Then it would be natural to add herding animals that accepted domination and dependence on man to survive better and longer. Settling down has so many issues to overcome and things to learn, so obviously I would think it was many, many years before groups would want to pick a spot and stay put knowing they would soon run out of trees for wood and other resources.

    Alight, the first episode should prove interesting. Wow, almost an hour and a half long. I tend to start out with piles for each resource and align the huts toward the firepits. I have always found it necessary to arrange all the huts and more as tightly as possible so I can wall it all in at some point, but normally find it difficult to get it all into the fort. I have always liked the idea of hunting dogs right away since they provide so much protection and production while waiting for more people to join the tribe.

    For a few minutes I thought you had ended the game before completing all of the milestones, but you did! Nice. Do miss hearing comments. I was hoping your would explain the precautions and strategy as you played.

    I suppose I shouldn't be surprised this older game isn't getting all that many comments. I don't think many still play this game, but I did notice 3 years ago there was a spurt of videos by some with huge followings. The disappointing part was they didn't play the game very well and one even jumped from episode 5 to 6 with many hours of gameplay not shown between. Many of the viewers noticed and wondered what was done between episodes 5 and 6. Even worse, he couldn't get past 100+ colonist and stopped playing and posting videos about this game.

      Maybe he/she had some problems. I had to start from the beginning with one planet, because of corrupted video recording. If I remember correctly than in the beginning this game had population limit...after some time the game developer raised the population limit...

      @@boredandlazy6 OK, how did you know for sure those were raiders? I would be thinking that is a supply ship, or maybe colony ship. I figured you had speed up the playback, so I slowed it down and noticed when you clicked on the NPC coming out, it was a visitor. Are you thinking all visitors are raiders?

      Colony ship is yellow and you can have airlocks always disabled, when the people exit the spaceship...look at their colour and name...raiders are purple and named "visitors". Also pointing it out if your "visitors" are enabled in "landing permissions" than it can be 50:50 but if it is disabled than any "visitor" who exit the ship is a raider.

      @@boredandlazy6 I am currently playing and posting a 3rd video series about the game and how to play. I am on the first planet, so it should be as easy as it gets. I have only posted the first 30 mins of game play so far and plan to post another 30 mins later today. It is going to be at least six more episodes before I can show raiders landing and trying to get into some of my airlocks, which I disable (no power) as they approach. I swear they have more oxygen capacity then any of my colonist by around half a minute. One did separate from the other two and got in an active airlock, so there was a bit of a firefight. The other two keep chasing after an active airlock until they finally ran out of oxygen. They tried every airlock I had, giving me the impression they had a huge oxygen supply, so I would disable the airlock they were about to enter and power up the next one, which they would then go for.

    Well dang! Still no fake meat and I am wondering how you manage to go this long without it. Must be some sort of special deal since you run out of spare parts, but stuff keeps working? I must be missing something about how you can manage that. I cannot get over how you can place all sorts of structures and not have the basic materials needed for construction, but can still have enough spare parts and other things when needed. I have to first make sure there are lots of spare parts in storage, wait until I have the materials needed before I can task another structure to be put up. If i don't, utilities break down and oxygen generators go dark, along with the rest of the domes and colonist die off in groups.

      Meat is not the problem, GMO crop is the problem. Than specialists have nutrient problem and need medical help. Specialist should put priority on spare parts (at least in my game) !?!?! or I'm just lucky xD If I see that power structures are too broken than I stop with the building (at least I try) xD You can also put limits on your production resources.

      @@boredandlazy6 I have played at least a dozen games by now and each has ended with either a food shortage, or not enough spare parts to keep all the utilities working. I am talking after all the milestones are completed, except the populations of 300. In fact, I have yet to break a populations of 200. Getting to a population of 100, an early milestone isn't that hard, but it seems I can never have enough robots to carry stuff so the colonist don't get mad about having to. About then the raiders get to be too much and I have trouble keeping up with guards and guns.

      I have played it a lot as well and failed many times. Food shortage happens when there isn't enough biodomes(with crops), not so many biologists or biologists are busy carrying stuff. If you want to deal with raiders than place 2 or 3 control canter near the landing pad entrance with security consoles.

      @@boredandlazy6 Sounds like what I have been doing. So far, I have gotten by with just one Control Center as long as all the airlocks near the landing pads, or starports lead into an oxygen generator, and just beyond that, the Control Center. Since the oxygen generator has security cameras once the Control Center is installed, the raiders mull around before entering the Control Center, or get killed off in the oxygen generator.

    The prior episode ended with someone dying, so now I am wondering what specialist that was? I am noticing you tend to assign a task before the basic resources are available for the construction. That has always worked against me with a focus on not having enough spare parts to keep up with needed repairs. I think I know why you keep running out of medical supplies - no fake meat. The colonist are suffering from not having any fake meat with their meals and need vitamin shots. You are constructing more bio-domes, but don't yet have the biologist to care for the plants, so they aren't producing and show red flags above the spot.

      I don't remember what specialist it was, sorry. Specialists will usually put priority to spare parts (if I'm out of it) but building has to go on for more specialists... I run out of medicals because of accidents in the mine. Medicals are also a good way to get money for upgrades. Yeah, when starting than you have never enough of biologists.

      @@boredandlazy6 The game has been updated a little, but the same basic problems are still an issue with gameplay. Even worse, much later, after making some series progress that takes almost forever, the raiders get to be too much. I was thinking they came on the trade ships, but NO .... they come in with colony shuttles!

      I had gameplay problems with my old computer...crashed all the time. If you continue with the episodes than you can see my solution for the raiders. :P Also disable visitors, than it is easy to spot unwanted raiders (purple suit)

      @@boredandlazy6 Interesting. The raiders I see have a red target style circle around them suggesting they are an easy target, lol. I still lose a guard from time to time in the current game I am playing, but in prior games they sent in hordes of at least six, or more and not only killed off the remaining guards, but also chased down the remaining colonist and killed them to end the game. Mean programming!

      That's their work, sabotage your colony. But I have walled the landing pad and closed the door, they don't even get inside. :D

    Well that sucks! It has been 6 months already and no one has left a comment. I can understand the strategy of installing the larger structures right off, but you see to be getting behind the old 8 ball very early in the game by hesitating on which structure needs to be placed next in a timely manner. You are also playing the game with the speed jacked up to X4, which is something that has always worked again me when starting a base. Dang, I better not say anything else since you are out of metal and don't seem to be noticing how you are installing more structures that can wait and are going to make success less likely. OK, I see what you are doing, clearing ground for a bigger version of the structure you need. You are not saying anything to explain why you installed things in the pattern you used. I bet someone will watch your video and complain about that, but I won't, lol.

      Thx for the very first comment. :D Sorry for the late response. In the beginning you have enough resources for the foothold. 1. Oxygen generator, water and power for obvious reason xD 2. Airlock 3. Food I like Planetbase game, maybe I will make a video where I will explain some things. :D At least I try to explain (not that good with that) LOL. Have a nice day! :)

      @@boredandlazy6 Thanks. I have been posting some of my gameplay in RUclips. I was having trouble finding videos about the game that weren't 7 years old and those I did find weren't recent. Even worse, they weren't providing any help on how to play. They were just playing without doing any searches for best options and strategies.
