May I make a song request? Could you play the flute solo in la procession del rocio - Joaquin Turina at anout 3:05 minutes (university of Illinois symphonic band) It’s actually what originally made me want to want to play flute! My band director is having us play this song for mpa but I play French horn in our band, so I don’t get the fun solo. It’s on imslp, I tried playing it today, and I’m able to play it, just not very well.

How long have you been playing flute? I’ve been playing for about four months and wish to become very good, practice an hour and a half every day. Unfortunately, I always compare myself against really good people who have been playing years, rather than people who have just been playing for a few months. Do you have any memory on about how long it took you to become a good flute player? Also if I may ask, why are the videos all numbered so high? Rather than something like 200 or 300 or however many videos you have posted? You play very well, I think in my head, you have become someone who I can hope to be comparable to in a few years.
Thank you so much! I have been playing the flute since 7 years old, so about ten years now. As a young child, i didn't practice that much, nor did I have the will to make an effort. After end of COVID, I found a lot more opportunities to play the flute, such as in the school orchestra, local competitions, and volunteering ensembles. This allowed me to love playing the flute again, and that was when I started this youtube channel to keep track of my practices and make sure that I was diligent. The names for my videos are dates -- 250127 would be January 27th, 2025. Although I'm still not satisfied with my skills, I think the point where I started pouring my heart and effort into practicing was when I started improving a lot. I'm really impressed by the fact that you're practicing an hour and a half every day -- that's such a big commitment! I'll quote my my private lesson teacher here -- your skills may not improve constantly like a linear graph, but rather in big steps. Even if you feel that your skills aren't improving as much as the effort you put in, I can assure you that they will come soon. I just want to say that having love and passion for the flute is the most important factor that will allow you to persevere and become a wonderful flute player!! ++ if you want tips on practice routines, pls lmk!!
Thank you, I’ll let you know if I need tips on practice routines. Last week I went to my first flute lesson(the teacher has the same name as me, funny coincidence), previously I’d been self taught so I never really could tell if I was playing well or not, he’s pretty good with pointing out my problems and mistakes that I never noticed. I often forget to articulate notes, I have trouble finding the right time in a song to breathe. Thanks, have a good day.

many of the sheet musics are from imslp, and the etudes are contained in a single book!

I read in the description what your practice hours are, I'm assuming that it is probably a daily routine. what I'm wondering is if you make these videos at the beginning of your practice time or at the end, or even somewhere in the middle?
mostly after i'm done, but sometimes in the middle of practice when i need some breaks lol
