Nice
I enjoyed you vidoe but a straight neck is just fine back bow no to much relief no as long as you have level frets your good to go. Keep up the vidoes
I always wondered if Gibson uses the same push pull pots as they put in their Gibson. I know they did upgrade them and the caps and wiring but I just wondered if the use the same push pulls in the Epis.
The short answer is sometimes. Gibson, along with any other manufacturer will raid parts bins to complete production runs. Sometimes resulting in upgraded parts to Epis and downgraded parts in Gibsons. I've seen both! Thanks for your support.
I question adding hundreds to a $1300 guitar (with a sacrilegious maple neck) when you can plop $1700 for a plek'd bound rosewood board P90 loaded Nashville made SG with a plush af case you can lease out to small animals as a B-n-B. Now, that beater SG is not even worth $1200!!! There goes the collector's value !!! To be cereal though, groovy video. I might've gone for Seymour's new rounded profile buckers though - I think he calls them... Donuts. 🎸
What is the difference in sound after upgrading?
So far the customer is absolutely pleased! I just do what I'm asked. Thanks for Your question and input. And thanks for watching!
What kind of wood is that neck made of and where did you get it?
A great video. precious
The quality of the content is incredible
how much will you charge?
are you interested in the red PJ Bass?
@@396guitars yes, both a 4 & 5 string
My fee is $65 for a restring and complete setup. Not including strings or any other repairs needed. Please feel free to contact me directly. Located in south Florida.
@@396guitars i am in minnesota and how much for the kit and build as well as stringing, tuning and shipping?
A little miscommunication. These are not "kits". They are carefully selected parts from Fender, Warmoth etc. For me to quote you, we must talk about your specific needs in an instrument. Happy to help guide you if you're interested.
Loved your latest video ❤
I love your content ❤
thanks Seo, appreciate it.
Beautiful craftsmanship and technique. thank you
Thank you for sharing this great video
I see an extraordinary set up.
Nice action moment and great post
Thanks so much for watching, support and comments SEO.
I havw often wondered why the pois don't have a grounding lug built into the outer case. Using a blob of solder seems like a jerry rig solution. obviously, it works when the technician knows what he's doing.
Please tell us what the SD quarter pounder is. How are they different from the other SD pickups?
They have bigger pole pieces than most, and they are high output for being true singlecoils, meaning they're gonna push more lows and low mids and not quite as much clankiness as standard fenders
Thanks for your question Rick. The Quarter pounder SD pickups have a much larger magnetic pole. And, as a result are much "hotter" and crisper than a regular SD or Fender pickup. Hope this was helpful.
@@396guitars It did, thanks.
I did not see a typical set up.
It's my own bass, some of it was off camera. Short cut a little. I'll make it up on the next Bass. Thanks for your input and support!
What size shim would you start out with ? I may have to shim one of mine and it's my first time...
.25 degrees is small and usually will get you a good result. Always start small! Thanks for your interest and support.
@@396guitars Thanks for getting back to me... will do...
A Roofers House needs a Roof.
Yup something like that! Thanks a lot for your support.
The nylon bush is to stop the Fender bridge from rocking when the vibrato is used. The bridge is supposed to rock as Leo designed it but the nylon bush gives the player a non-rocking option. The Mastery saddles only come in one radius which is supposed to work with any radius which is a dumb design choice imo.
Yup, right on all counts Mark. Never know what you will see on the bench. Sometimes damned if you do and damned if you don't. Thanks for your input and support.
Thanks! It sounds great now! Appreciate you slugging through it!
I've just recently started using the slightest amount of flux. I like my results.
Hey Denro, flux def helps. in fact it is needed for good results. I use flux core solder, saves a step and less messy. Thanks for your input and support!
@@396guitars You Bet !...You do Great Work. Thanks for Sharing.
Does Fender make gtars with 2 way truss rods?
Yes and no. Short answer. I have run into mim's with and without. I have never seen USA fender with one.
Far out, I wonder why you would want a P neck on a jazz bass ?
I have one in my stable. It's not a new thing. I chose to put a P-bass neck on one of my J-bass builds and I LUV IT! It's my number 2.
@@396guitarsCool.. sounds intriguing... I like my p, but my #1 is my j bass... Thanks for getting back to me, and thanks for the videos...
thats a bad ass guitar thanx 396!
She plays like butter and rocks! thanks for your support
How rare is it?
Don't know. But it was fun to work on it!
Good vid, but I wouldn't recommend using graphite as a lube. It can lead to dissimilar metal corrosion.
Sure enough, you're right. I only use it on nut slots. thanks for your interest and support!
No way on Gibson I'm a loyal Epiphone man

Wow. Incredible work! Your best yet. ~Rick
Good looking guitar. For sale?
It could be, sure.
Looks like a 56 not a 59... Still a very nice guitar.
I suggest you keep a box of toothpicks handy for cleaning small crevasses like the switch. Q-tips work good also.
I think that’s a newer 50$ srd. I have the exact same machine. I agree with everything you said. 8s? I wouldn’t but what do I know? 10s and a good setup = good to go. You got my vote dude and a sub.
50s rather

I have 11's on 4 of my Les Pauls, they never go out of tune.
I'm not sayin 8's aren't ok, the guitar wasn't strung properly. Nothing screams ROCK like 11's though! thanks for your support
Who is Billy Gibbons? I play 8s on all my Les Pauls.
8's are fine, the guitar wasn't strung properly. It boils down to personal preference. thanks for watching!
In run Billy's 7's and have no issues at all. They are just awesome, not one break and stay in-tune all the time. Problems do happen.
I see issues with it right from the start. I'm not going into details but you "Should" see the same things I do.
"I know more than you but I'm not telling" pseudo-experts are so much fun...
Thanks for your input
Ultra light strings, no relief, too close to the pups...recipe for a headache.
Yup, thanks for your input
sounds like my banjo...haha
See dave collins explainations about tuning problems with gibsons at a2 guitars on the youtube. The fret spacings on some gibsons are not right. I had a real 1968 looked just like this one your working here and wasn't tuning stability, it was just plane impossible to tune because the frets where not spaced right. You can check this by looking at stew macs online fret spacing calulator! Gibson used the wrong divider number on them?
Thanks Karl, it just turned out to be improper stringing and setup. I let it sit for several days after setup and checked and re-checked tuning changes. It turned out great. Thanks again for your interest and support!
I have had my Epi nylon version since '98. A buddy of mine has the Gibson version which has much better pickup quality and tone. Great work due to your perseverance.👍
Thanks so much for your kind words and support!
what model is that one ?
Billy Gibbons would agree with the owner of the guitar. He uses 8's, too. I personally use 10's, but I love me some ZZ Top/Billy Gibbons. Excellent playing, excellent tone.... using 8's. It also allows you to get by with less relief. 🤷🏻♂️ Good job with that tone pot.👍
All good points! Boiles down to personal preference. Thanks for your interest and input!
I prefer .09's. I used 10's a lot but I do some serious string bending due to some of the songs that I like requiring it.
@monmixer same here. Buy bending makes my hands stronger so i stay with 10s. I used to play 11s. 9s are a tad too light for me. I overbend and feel like I'll break strings. I also tune a half step down sometimes so that lightens things up a bit
What's the hangup with having "more wraps" on a tuners post? How can that possibly be "better"? I purposely use literally "no wraps" on every string I can get away with it on. Usually the thinner couple strings, B and high E, will require more to keep them secure. But otherwise it's never EVER been a problem for me, on any guitar I've ever owned, regardless of the style of tuner. Just try it once, before you condemn it. If having extra string length saved on the post is important to you for cost reasons, I understand. But as far as tuning stability? That's nonsense. The way I wrap/lock the strings, I can usually take them on and off multiple times. Before one will eventually break. The tuning stability is way way better with less wraps boss. Trust me.
You are entitled to your opinion. Thanks for your support, opinion and good luck!
Is that a Lazarus model?
it's posable, not sure to be honest.
@@396guitars I know now... Its one of the Limited Edition Epiphone 59 models in Lemon burst.
If it's a 1 piece neck, it's a Lazarus, if not, it's a limited edition '59 model split between Sweetwater & Andertons in the UK.
Good piece of diagnostics on that pot, well done.
Thanks, I appreciate it Edward.
man locking tuners oughta be standard on new gtrs
I kinda agree! I used to not dig on em too much, but I'm a believer now, and recommend them to my customers that are considering a tuner change. Thanks for you input and support!
Looking forward to part 2!
