What trade / career does stuff like mask making?

Thanks bud! I've been wanting to get into maybe streaming or videos myself, but due to some personal history with abusive family and other individuals, I don't like the idea of being just 'out there'. Doing face painting or makeup every time would just not work for me, that's so much time and effort just to get to START making a video or stream. You know? I'll be making a cast of my face and head, then just putting some latex over it, then do some whimsical painting. Like getting a nice facepaint that I can put on and off for the little extra effort of making a mask. Any tips on thinner masks that are meant to sit closer to the skin? Thanks!

Styrofoam heads DO rot masks! Mind you, my masks used to always be the cheap crap from Walmart, but my masks disintegrated. They got all sticky, and literally crumbled apart when I took them out.

I will be watching your videos because I want to get into making masks and other Halloween related items and props, but I wanted to share a short story with you. The first mask I ever made was one of the nurses from silent hill. My family and a friend all dressed up like the characters from silent hill in costumes I made completely from scratch. I used my own head wrapped in cling film and then in duct tape to make my own head to use to make the mask. I then used a paper mache to make all the details, then I covered it in professional quality liquid latex, then painted it. I have to say, for doing it the red neck way, it worked out pretty darn nice. But I didn't know latex shrunk! And I could never figure out why the mask got too tight and squished my nose LOL. Thank you for making these videos to give people the knowledge to do it right!

Now, what if one is allergic to the natural Latex that masks are typically made out of? Are there other materials one could use that emulate the behaviours of latex? This is such fantastic information - both on the history as well as the processes! (I appreciated the dad jokes, as well).

As a video on RUclips of the Don Post production facility in action shows, they don't use two-part molds for latex masks to begin with. They make a solid mold on an existing piece, pull it out and then use the molds for dwell casting, just pulling the masks out once they're done.

Got a latex 'Never Hike Alone' mask recently. Mask itself fits well to my eyes perfect, only thing is that the neck part is too wide for mine. Going to try something like this to make the neck sit more flushed to mine and hopefully comes out as I expect.
