DFAM, Trogotronic m277, and Mid Side Processing with WMD Geiger Counter & Dwarfcraft Synth Mangler
A DFAM patch stereoized with the @trogotronic m277 then synthesized into Mid Side (M/S) with the Shakmat SumDiff. The mid is processed with the @WMDevices Geiger Counter and the side is processed through the Dwarfcraft Devices Synth Mangler.
Watch an excellent tutorial on Mid Side (M/S) that my friend @SimonHutchinson made: ruclips.net/video/uaKayJt5kHY/видео.html

    Any change since recording? Has it seen more or less usefulness (ie, is it relevant)? At $250 it's not expensive to get into if it's a likely future recording solution, but I understand it's going to have more noise than a $1000 mic for quiet environments.

    • @SpectralEvolver
      @SpectralEvolver 9 дней назад

      Hi there! I haven't used mine in a while, but I still feel the same way. It's a nice option for entry level binaural/ambisonics, it's intuitive to use, reasonable, and can be used as an interface, all of which make it a no-brainer for me. That said, there are certainly quieter, higher quality ambisonic set-ups. If you're more interested in high quality recording than those things, I would look at some of the other solutions from Rodes and Sennheiser. Keep in mind you will need 4-channels of matched mic-preamps to do first order ambisonics. I hope this helps!

      Hello! Thanks for watching. I haven't used the Oktava MD-382 so it's hard to say, but I believe it has a wider frequency response than the MD-66A. If you want more bandwidth, I would go for the MD-382. If you want a more lo-fi sound I would go for the MD-66A. I hope that helps!

    is there any point to doing a spectrum analysis for longer files just for recreating that sound with sumofsines? or does loading in a larger chunk offer more resolution or accuracy for the resynthesis?

    • @SpectralEvolver
      @SpectralEvolver 8 дней назад

      Actually, shorter recordings work better. The longer the file the harder it is (usually) to do a high quality analysis and re-synthesis. I don't recall the timing SSC "recommends" to keep files under, but I think it says in the spectrum analysis tool when you use it.

    • @SpectralEvolver
      @SpectralEvolver 27 дней назад

      Hi there, well, the purpose of this video was to show how to synthesize a square wave using sine waves. It would certainly be more straightforward to just use a square wave oscillator. To answer your question (a little bit) though, having individual control over the constituent oscillators allows for more subtle control and unique opportunities for creative sound-particularly when re-synthesizing a sound.

    Love the urchin and thank you guys for the video. Regarding the clipping, doesn't Kyma have dynamics processors? Compressing a few of those signal paths might help with the clipping/tone. Can you slap a brick wall limiter on the output? Although I already output my Kyma sounds directly into protools for further processing, I would LOVE it if Kyma had a module that you could run Vsts through, inserting anything your heart desires into the signal path. Would be especially useful for things like EQ/Compression.

    • @SpectralEvolver
      @SpectralEvolver 28 дней назад

      Hi there! Yes, Kyma has many dynamics processors and of course you can make your own too. I haven't looked at this video since we made it, but certainly some eq/compression/gain staging would help. As for a brickwall limiter, it wouldn't solve the problem entirely because the sound is internally clipping before the final output. There isn't a Kyma sound (that I know of) where you can just plunk a VST into the audio path, but you can certainly route audio out of Kyma, into your DAW, and back into Kyma. The Pacamara makes it accessible, and Simon made a video on how to do it using the Dante Protocol too.

You found and used a “Replicator for multitouch pen control” prototype but I don’t have that anywhere I can find - it’s not in the prototype strip and I also searched all through the whole Kyma 7 folder - no go. Closest I have is a prototype “Replicator for Pen multitouch polyphony (using _?VoiceNumber suffix)” and I tried to use that but it is differently constructed Sound with less objects - I tried dragging the Multisample Sound into it (both replacing and adding in a mixer) but couldn’t seem to get there. You could type 100 hz nn and evaluate it. You can do arithmetic, concatenate units as in the previous example, etc. Perhaps a couple of useful ways to think about it are understanding the expression deeper, or getting the result of the expression for use elsewhere. Hope that helps! Let me know. Cheers!
