    Somehow I wound up going backwards. I was aware the large tree which likely had a well was behind me. I considered falling right away but did know exactly how far away the tree was. I knew I did not want to go in head first so I controlled what I could and stayed upright until I got to the tree. In the meantime, I held my Avalung breather tightly in my mouth in case I got my head buried. My thoughts on the current powder cycle are that tree wells are a bit less of a danger than some other powder cycles. The main difference being that we did not have a warm spell that opened up large voids under the trees, so the wells are smaller than they might be.

      One of the beautiful things about Mt Bachelor is that off Summit you have 360 degrees of mountain to ski from. This let s you pick the aspect that is most favorable based on wind-sun-snow etc. The NW bowls are grand, watch my video Summit Backside Voodoo Wall, but some days you have to look to leeward, where wind deposition is where it's at. And wearing K2 Darksides, with a 128 waist, I was going for soft.

    • @mundanelark1852
      @mundanelark1852 2 года назад

      I had forgotten I do that. Good Eye, I had to slow the video down to 25% to see it. I am an old school mogul skier from A-Basin, from way back when skis did not carve, and we did the jump turn. I see at 7:39 I use the double pole plant to take my body weight and lift my tails for initiation of a jump turn. It is definitely a security thing, when I am afraid the surface might grab my ski tail and prevent a turn. I also use it for speed control.

I am surprised that different wheat varieties come out with different textures. White wheat is softer, and red wheat is harder. Oats are very soft, too soft. The flax seed was terrible.

    Thanks for the video. I bought this exact model two days ago, worked the soil yesterday, but I wasn't as lucky as you when it came to encountering rocks. Yes, some it threw out of the way, but when it contacted a big one or two, it started making very loud noises, so we stopped to have a look. Unfortunately, a few of the tines were bent out of shape, and then came nightfall. We are looking for a way to bend them back to shape. We've gotten some answers from people saying to use a vice, then a lead pipe and try to bend it back to shape, or a hammer or large wrench. We may try that today, but this model can also work on two tines, so we may try that to try and finish the job. We've got a lot of rocks, and how does anyone know when any tiller or cultivator they may buy might encounter a rock too big to handle and have the same thing happen to them? If you have any ideas on how to fix these, please share them. Otherwise, I'll be calling the company come Monday under my warranty and find out if they'll send me new tines. I was loving this machine, too, until this happened.

    • @mundanelark1852
      @mundanelark1852 3 года назад

      They are pretty hard spring steel, as hard to bend back as they are to bend in the first place. I think you may be able to move the tine sets inboard and outboard as needed. The cotter pins, I am told, also allow it to operate with a tine set removed if needed. Good luck.
