That little box that opens i made a mistake a removed at the screws off before i saw this video and learned how to removed it so then i screw them back in and changed the battery but now the car won't start help!

Want to make some money? Make an after market L bracket that holds the battery from the top. That bottom bracket is a trick to get back on.

Question: what size screws are on the bottom, under the trim?? Mine won’t come off, I’m using an impact driver - tried 16mm, 9/16 & 5/8. 5/8 was closest fit but still wouldn’t budge 😩

I have a 2017 Malibu LS. There is a black clip on the left side of the positive terminal assembly. It's part of the positive terminal plastic assembly with the fuses and is hard to see. You need to use a flat head screw driver and pry it towards the engine. It took me about 20 minutes to find it to see what was holding the assembly on. It really blends in with the assembly body. Also the nut for the assembly would not come all the way off. The bolt was spinning with it. This is a 4-part piece; the nut, the bolt, and two wedge pieces that wedge the positive clamp to the battery terminal. The bold head rests against a flat to hold it from turning. If the bolt slides down, it comes off the flat, allowing it to spin freely. I had to hold the bolt up to keep the bolt head against the flat and finish unscrewing the nut. When i replaced that nut, same thing; I had to hold it up so it kept contact with the flat. Once I got about 5 turns on it, it was held in place and I was able to fully tighten it. Other than that, it's just like the video shows.

This video was very easy to follow and helped me do the replacement today. 2 tips...keep the replacement battery outside of the car before you start disconnecting the old battery. Mine was in the trunk and the doors were all locked Next, when connecting the terminals, the car alarm may start to blast. The horn is right in front od the battery.

Remove the negative cable first then once battery is installed attach positive cable first then the negative cable.Turn steering wheel to the left and right and reset windows by holding up windows button for 5 seconds and then holding them down for 5 seconds.
