Hi, I am Michael, and I enjoy playing the piano. I wanted a channel to record all the pieces that I am learning. That way, years from now, I can remember the pieces I have played. And I hope that I can see how much I have improved.

After hearing Víkingur Ólafsson play Bach's Goldberg Variations at a live performance, Michael was inspired to learn it.

Michael performed this piece for the 2023 Taiwan national piano competition. It was a the mandatory piece that all the competitors had to play in addition to a piece of their choice. Here we recorded this piece almost a month after the competition took place. He hadn't play this piece since then so he had to look at the music. Sorry for annoying sound of the squeaky bench in the background.

Michael spent a year (on and off) learning, practicing, and polishing this piece. This is his longest performance yet at 10 minutes.

Also known as Rondo alla Turca (Turkish March). Michael will be away from his Yamaha Baby Grand for awhile. He is now practicing on an upright piano in a small room at a piano studio.

Polyphonic works are very complex both in performance and in comprehension. Michael understands music ! I've listened to this video twice. I really like
how wonderful it is when children play music.
the musician is small, but diligent
