I kept trying to turn my volume up through the whole video lol. Needs some sound. Lol
No mention of what they are worth....Booo
Could this be used for dimensional lumber. Would be interesting to be able to build a post and beam home with lumber from reclaimed trees.
Needs narration.
I'd have given you a thumbs up if you'd taken the time to add some naration.
I watched with great interest. I worked on the Scott Paper log drive from 1972 to 1976. Did you find any boom logs? Sinkers and dead heads were the worst when driving the rivers and streams (Kennebec, LazyTom, Roach). They were like torpedoes underwater in the current, and would knock you off your feet. It made for some interesting times trying to keep ones feet on the bottom and ones head above water... I bet my great grandfather may have seen some of those old.logs you dragged up. Spencer Bay must have a mother load of wood on the bottom! Your video brought back some good memories from my wayward youth!
I usually don't watch things like this, but I found this fascinating--great job! BTW--this is Nell, the wife.
This guy dropped some serious money on this boat!!
Baddass Maine ingenuity at its finest!!!
I live in maine. Always wondered why no one did this.
You did well! You found a niche that (I'm guessing) nobody else ever thought to exploit. Keep it up, and work fast and hard. Eventually, if everything works out well, you'll see other people doing the same thing. Best wishes.
AWESOME !
Great video thanks. No music loop many thanks
This would have been a great video… If it was a video! And if it had sound… And if you explain things… neat “pictures” though
Dear Mr. Please let me know how you can build this boat. I'm looking for build a similar boat in Chile for turistics pourposes .. please help...
Truly amazing!!!
the guys who felled this wood would be proud .
Great web site deadheadlumbercompany.biz/
looks like a nice video but no audio???
Awesome photos. The picture showing all the cuts boards was like looking in a candy store! Thanks for sharing
Humm ! I just noticed the post date of 2012, The State probably has already put him out of business ?
Do not fly to high or you will get into the state tax radar scope and the will classify you as treasure hunter and try to steal 9/10ths of your profit !
Enjoyed your video and work done very much, Thanks ! Simon in France
i was going to do that in moosehead but state want way to much of the cut
I fell asleep what happened
Cool!
I don't know how you stayed dry ?
Pulled logs from that same spot about 12yrs ago remember that take out location. myself guy from Ny and one local you probably know or heard of.
Questions: how they end up there on the bottom, how long they been (1800s?!)?The water preserves them well? How much is one average large log worth?
Well done..
yea great video chaps , when you do a second one put some sound to it ye ....
where is this taking place? maine is a big state. eagle lake?
This enterprise puts together things that are dear to me: Maine, logging, and boats! I would love to talk to you all about lake log salvage!
Nicely done for a slide show. Guessing this is all legit, there is a lot of illegal log pulling from waters. People think just because there is a log in the water it's free.
That birdseye still fetch a quality price? Back in the 90's with the old-growth shortage that company pulling logs out of lake superior was getting $80 per board foot. ($118 in today's money)
That's My question what is the price of the logs how valuable are They?
That was very interesting sir and cool to see going to share with my sons.
How does he get the logs from the spreader bar/log tongs, to the side of his boat to be tied up? Unless he has the spreader bar tied by rope so he can pull the bar/log to the side. Nice build!
weparadised once they're free of the mud and it's suction, they have a bit more buoyancy, making moving them a little easier
I had this very same idea today. I even drew a picture of a boat that looks incredibly similar. You are way too far ahead of me! Best of luck I wish I could come tree fishing!
Your and this video's same 'idea' has been a business on Lake Superior for at least 30 years. Long enough so that Congress actually passed a bill(House Bill 5691) for regulation of underwater logging retrieval in 2000. Popular Science ran a full article on 'Fortune in Drowned logs' in 1934.
Must have been a big investment. I do tree work for a living and I got a woody....Very cool job.
you can do anything you want .....when you got money
that is just AMAZING.
That's a great setup you've got, don't listen to the naysayers. Thanks for sharing this with us. Take care, David
Hi, what kind of money did you get out of there. Ive always wanted to do this, since i was a kid.
Thats awesome!!
OK, now turn that creativity to the oil&gas folks. Figure out an energy efficient way to use the energy/fuel lost to atmosphere at refineries. I live 2-3 miles from Miss Riv. Refineries that have something burning from high chimneys 24-7-365. Burn lights night sky like endlessly erupting volcano & 4 no one interested in finding use: $ $ $ $ into the clouds. You could be a richer dude!
+Kissyourarmadillotoday Laura what they are burning off is the junk that is not pure which is a tiny fraction of what they are able to produce
patrick evans If it burns it's still wasted energy.
OMG, a logger with a sense of humor, what has the world come to?
It sure is nice to see American know-how and entrepreneurship is alive and well, kudos to you! No doubt the Leftists in your beautiful state will find a way to tax you up the wazoo, if the Crunchies ("granola crunchers", aka the Greenies/Environmental Wackos) don't stop you first!

Some logs go for $5000 or more, heard of one log worth $12 000
how many seasons it take to pay off that boat looks very expensive i see people in alot of old logging states doing this water logging now, are the logs worth much money?
pontoon boat used cost at least 10-18k alone
Genius!
