Cool
I subscribed sir! Cool project! Seems like this ain't your first Duramax swap?
@@ronaldsteveson76 thank you! This is my first time doing any of this lol
@@champlingarage you mind me asking what is a decent price for something like your donor? Thinking about maybe doing this to my 63 C-30
any updates?
Very soon, at a standstill waiting on backordered parts right now
I did mine and the paint krinkled!
Very.clean That crew cab is very clean. That's a good condition
This is a badass build! Killer job man!
Thank you! Much more to come soon!
@@champlingarage can't wait to see!
Good ass video
Thank you!
bro what size of bolt takes up the floor ?
I like the video. You explain things really well and clearly, easy to understand. You did a great job on the project. I myself am working on a 71' chevy c20 and have zero previous experience with welding, cutting, fabing sheet metal. Keep the videos coming !
Thank you and good luck on fixing yours up!
Awesome build. You've done a lot of custom work to make it happen and did it right 😎👍 For sound deadening look to get the thick insulated type thats in the in your donor truck.
Thank you! I’ve been looking at that type!
USING OVEN CLEANER RUINED MY RIMS.
Nice work! You explained things really well and the video content and editing were great.
Thank you!
Looks good stick with it , good job !
Thanks, will do!
Awesome video. Very helpful. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Seriously, you did a fantastic job young man! Keep it up. You did it so well, some of the steps I think you might want to talk more about. I'm saying that for me. LOL
Thank you very much! When I do them again I’ll try and make a better explanation video
That was dope
will moisture not be trapped between the raptor bed liner and the sound deadener mat
No
Will the sound deadner not hold moisture between it and the raptor bedliner causing long term rust issues
No, it’s all sealed up and covered good
Great video and install. Keep it up man. Nice truck brother.
Thanks 👍
Suburban doirs are usually pretty cheap.
Hows this truck comin along by now?
Right now covered in snow waiting for some time off work lol but I’m trying to get everything for the 4wd swap so I can knock that out here soon!
This is how a great man started.
Thank you!
Where i live that isnt even rusted enough to fix yet 😂😂😂 but good work none the less
😂 thank you! I’d hate living in salted areas
Great.. we are getting ready to do same exact thing. What tack welder are you using? And what cutter are you using? THANKS
Just a normal wire feed welder and a normal cutting wheel
I love this build. I have a 72 c10 with the 350/350. How much did the copart donor set you back. Diesels go for big bucks around here especially Duramax's and Cummins. Keep up the build, she's going to be awesome when complete.
Thank you very much! I might reveal prices when the truck is complete, but for now I’ll just say even wrecked they’re kinda pricey lol
So true @@champlingarage
He said it was about 50 ft.², how thick was the product that you put in and now that it’s been a while would you go thicker?
If I remember correctly it’s 80mil thick. At this point I’ve added some foam sound deadener on top so I don’t think thicker would help but extra insulation does
Very cool, what size tires are them?
They are just stock tires, wheels have a little extra offset though
I gotta tell ya. If this is your second time doing this, you are so damn good at it. Yea, theoretically it's not rocket science but until you have done one, it's very daunting. Now I must look back and check out what welder you are using because your tack welds look really pro. Hands of Gold for sure. Makes me want to try it.
Thank you very much!
What sheet tools were those again?
Professional work, and as others have said, inspiration to tackle my own car. Now, this is not a criticism, but I would like to see also how you actually cut out the old rusted metal. What you used, how to get a straight cut, etc. And from that, the equipment you used to weld it. I don't know if the speeded up video could be slowed down to show that, but just an idea. Again, fabulous work!!
Thank you! Maybe on the next truck I can do a more in depth video.
Thanks! That'd be welcome.@@champlingarage
Nice job on the video and the truck, watching a beginner do this work makes me comfortable (as a beginner) to get busy on my 1975 Blazer.
Thank you!!
Can you drop the link for the kicker panel? I am having a hard time searching for it even on lmc. Just not quite sure what to search because it's not coming up
I don’t have a link for it but it’s on LMC website right with all the other interior patch panels
When this is done I need to come see it
You’re killing it!
That’s a lot of miles 😅
Thank you for the video, where did you purchase the replacement parts?
All of the panels are from LMC truck!
Thank you
Dang good job! Ill come back for updates!
Thank you!!
@@champlingarage no worries im enjoying the series! Sucks on the axle/ebay stuff. I typically dont buy on ebay. The scams be real.
@@FocusedHands that’s the first time I’ve been screwed over from it. Oh well, lesson learned
Those square bodies were the first Chev & GMC fullsize pickups to have an optional bigger cab which was a crew cab like that one there in the video. They were first introduced in 1973 which was also the first year for the square bodies. Unlike the crew cab pickups today which are also on half ton models with a short box, the square body crew cabs were only on three quarter ton & one ton models & all had the long fleetside box. Them & the other square body models were produced up through 1991 except for the plain cab pickups which became obsolete before that year. In 1987, the half ton & three quarter ton ones were finished, but the one ton ones on the other hand were still in production up through 1989.
how big are your vice grip clamps? what kind of welder are you using and what gauge, speed?
also what did you use for sanding?
I have a 1993 C3500 version of that truck. I'm with you, I think most of the square body cclb trucks had the 454 engines. The obs versions seemed to mostly have the 5.7 tbi engines. Love these trucks!
Sweet can't wait to start mine
Geez ! Is There Anything You Can't Do, Automotive Wise ? Very Impressive Sir - Bravo !!
Thank you very much! Still just trying to learn as much as I can!
I hope this works well for you. Its likely goin to rust out. The rubber liner will hold moisture and it will rust away. Fluid film or something like that is a much better way to stop rust. Hopefully this works. Its a very nice truck
It’s worked great so far
Raptor liner isn't rubber. I use it on every truck I flip. I pull the beds off and spray the underside. Been doing that for years with no problems.
I'm doing this exact setup but with a 2.5 RC level, glad I found your channel. Which setting (notch) did you go with on the 5100s?
I just went with the lowest 0” lift on them. I didn’t want to make the angles any worse than the 3.5” lift kit does already
Dude, awesome work!
Thank you!!
Oh yes the travel tanks I have the same in my 72
Rad truck love it ..
Thank you!
I’m surprised you didn’t cab, bed, and front clip swap the 71 GMC onto the newer frame and weld custom mounts onto the new frame for the 71 GMC cab. I’m in the process of doing that to my 72 GMC as well, but I’m taking the 72 GMC cab, bed, and front clip and swapping it onto a 2003 2500hd 4x4 chassis with the LQ4 6.0, wish I coulda found a Duramax to swap, but just to expensive in my area lol. Good luck on the build man! I’ll define keeping up with your videos! 🤘🏼
Thank you! It would’ve been nice to cab swap it and not mess with any suspension/drivetrain but I wanted the truck to be a true 71, frame and all. Besides, the duramax frame was all twisted up so that wasn’t even really an option lol that 6.0 will still be sweet! I’ll have to check it out
Getting ready to buy some… is it asphalt based? Can’t find info online
Yes it’s asphalt based. May have a slight smell for a couple days but after that I don’t notice it anymore
where do u get these pieces bro
All of the patch panels are from LMC truck!
