I just too mine apart to clean it. I heard something shot up the vacuum - wonder if it’s that little black gear that fell out of yours too? Will check vacuum bag. But also found a small spring on the bench - about as big as one in a clicker biro pen. Anyone any ideas?

ummmmmmmmmm all Ima say is the power supply doesn't need to come out at all, and this video is labeled rebuild this was not a rebuild it was a fix by no means did you say you were a professional tho.

The black small cog goes next to the big white cogs in the small hole and the springs face upwards. It is for manuel ejection !!

For everyone wondering about the little black cog: it is the manual eject screw, and it goes in the little round slot directly beside the largest top-center white cog. It's not imperative for function, but since you've already had to take the drive apart once, probably a good idea to keep it in there. Check the video below to see it.

I might be wrong but that little black piece that fell out, I think that is used to manually remove a stuck disc without dissembling the whole disc drive. 7:23, see the three main white cogs? Top of his left hand. Remove the top middle cog and that little black piece drops into the…. Reservoir(lack of a better term) that hangs off the left side. It connects with the white cog via gravity or when you engage it with a basic Phillips head. It will slowly engage the mechanism that moves the disc in and out of place. That is my best guess/explanation. If anyone else knows better please say so! So many people have been asking and trying to figure this thing out.

At 8:17 there is a view of the white cogs that are linked to the drivebelt and motor. Some cogs are secured by screws... does anyone know the size/specs of those screws?

Hello please help me so I cleaned my ps4 as usual but last time I opened the power supply and it was very dusty cleaned it with a blower and used a electronics cleaner and cleaned the top cover and the fan when I packed everything up the disc drive is not spinning and it makes ejecting sounds so I watched a tutorial on how to clean it and sprayed electronics cleaner and cleaned the laser and everything and did all possible solutions like software update and data rebuild ect... And it is still not spinning and gives me unregonized please help me

Anyone happen to know where the black gear fell from? Mine ended up with out it whenever I last cleaned it and have been wondering if it is causing the eye to not read a disc at all. Not even a DVD. Already have cleaned the eye prior to it but this time didn't have the isopropyl alcohol to get it clean clean..
