I hate that Mormonism starts so young with teaching people they are bad and need saving.

I was raised Mormon, but I didn't know about the secret handshakes until I was 21. It's a cult.

Our Google Home knows how to get into Mormon heaven now
As a child I went to the temple in Utah with my parents when we were on holidays there , my parents went through marriage sealed all time and eternity Once home in uk my mother pulled out t of her beliefs and it took her years to tell me the things that went on including the strange gowns hats they had to where and most worrying the slitting of the throats Now I’ve got this information I’m going to for the first time in 40 years go to my old chapel fast testimony open mike basically and take the stand and ask two questions First why did black people not able to hold priesthood until 1977 The other I need to know as it distract my late mother who I loved dearly , That she said part ceremony was to hold her hand accross her throat in a cutting motion along with everyone else that if they spoke of anything in the temple they should cut there throat Then in the Temple my mother knew this was a cult and she couldn’t wait to get out This was banned April 1990 Thank you for this information as I’m going to a fast testimony shock a few members, I’m sure the mike will get cut off , but it needs to be heard, especially for the new members that are oblivious Also I’m going mention that Joseph smith had 36 wives as young as 14 That is the reason he was broke out of the sheriffs prison and murdered Today he would be a peodaphile
They donate less than 1%, mostly for PR purposes.
You Mormon's do realize you're in a cult, right? 😳
I like what you said, they should teach this in school.
Thanks!
Simple truths, right there. It is basic deductive reasoning.
What were he's stance on butch lesbìanas??
OT the website in the channel descrption can't be reached?
Thanks for letting me know! Should be changed to this: unpackingmormonism.blogspot.com/
@@unpackingmormonism3187 Works now, tx for fixing.
All religions are cults some are just nicer than others
Agreed. It's funny how often Mormons will defend the church by saying that it's ok because other religions do it. 🙄
At the end your patriarcal blessing was A Blessing 😂
Ha. Ironic.
Who did he threaten? Can you give a name?
Emma is the first that comes to mind.
This is not entirely true. Even if you don’t pay tiding you can still be with my family forever. It’s funny how you are so miserable outside the church. I mean, your whole channel is about hating our church. Not to be unkind but you need to be less miserable
Extortion
Also, they teach that you will burn when Jesus returns if you don't pay tithing. It's disgusting.
They do a lot of fear mongering. Very gross.
Joseph Smith and Warren Jeffs I see no difference
My testimony of Joseph Smith as a kid was based on the idea of "by their fruits ye shall know them." I didn't know at the time, but Warren Jeffs is the REAL fruit of Joseph Smith. All the other stuff, the love of families, the community, all that stuff that I was always told to give credit to Joseph Smith for is just normal human stuff. He does not get any credit for that, and the stuff he SHOULD get credit for is disgusting.
@@unpackingmormonism3187 😮 😮 😮
Hi are you feeling better? I hope so 💪
Yes, thank! Still annoyed by Mormonism though... It's still culting along.
I was told not to wear white during my baptism, I did anyways cause I felt uncomfortable. I’m beyond disgusted. One of the missionaries that baptized me turned out to be a creep wouldn’t leave my brothers gf alone even after his mission…
There are too many stories like this in the church... They tend to believe predators over victims because that's how it's been since the beginning when Joseph Smith would try and destroy the reputations of women who wouldn't give in to him.
Sneaky little shit weasel… err road apple 🍎
Makes sense
Doesn't it though? Trying to make all the information fit into the faithful perspective just hurts. It all makes so much more sense if you go with the answer that Joseph Smith was simply another abusive cult leader.
@@unpackingmormonism3187 Yeah the resemblance to other cult leaders is there. I think a lot of it came together for me upon hearing Joseph's treasure digger backstory where he learned that if he spun tales and claimed to have powers he could control people. He'd eventually go on to use what he learned to gain fame, money, power, and even women (all under the guise of religion of course). Sounds crazy that people would follow him but then I look at a present-day cult leader/ lying rapist that everyone wants to throw money at so he can be president again 🤦♂️
Aw. I sure have. ❤ I didnt grow up Mormon but I grew up Church of Christ so uh... I feel you. My predator was in my own family but the church covered for him and essentially aided and abetted him. Recovery is a long effing hard road that we shouldn't even have to embark on in the first place, but it sounds like you are doing the hard work of processing everything. Its incredibly difficult and painful and profoundly unjust but i want you to know - as you do the work, it will eventually, slowly, actually start to get a little better. For real. I just wanted to pass that on because I know it can seem impossible. ❤ And yes, f#ck them alllllllllll.
Glad you are on the recovery journey too. Thanks! ❤️
Lots of rituals from freemasonry.
Smh always something
Joseph Smith often preyed on young women whose parents were manipulated into agreeing to these "underage marriages". It was sex trafficking. Joseph Smith was a manipulative rapist. Mormonism is a cult.
If you act like a cult, you’re probably in a cult.
They control your underwear and you can't have a forever family unless you pay them money.
This isn't even the half of it. I'm ex mormon and I just learned that there used to be naked touching in the temple. They stopped the practice right before I went through for the first time. Phew.
Sounds like a group of pervs
Im gonna just say this in defense of this church, doesnt like every Christian religion do this, like at infancy when the kid cant even comprehend what’s happening, its not a cult simply a religion you tragically had a bad experience in
This is one of their Tokens. "Health in the naval marrow in the bones. Strength in the loins and sinews. Power in the priesthood be upon me and my prosterity through all generations of time and throughout all eternity.
Anti-Christ
Well you can’t say it’s a lie that he was persecuted as a teen just because no one has written about it except for himself. If there was were documents from that time that said that he wasn’t persecuted for the first vision when he was a teenager then that’s proof. So you can’t say that’s a lie.
I'm talking about all the stories I was taught at church about how, and more importantly the WHY of Joseph Smith's persecution stories. Very culty. Talking up the persecution of the leader is classic cult.
@@unpackingmormonism3187 Jesus Christ was a cult leader? Interesting.
There are lots of cults that center Jesus, yes.
@@unpackingmormonism3187 Oh wait so you completely left Christianity?
Just cult things 😊
Who picked this song? 😅
Me. It was too perfect for how I feel about the ridiculousness of the whole thing.
Creepy.. no thank you!
This is not real...filming in the temple is not allowed.. This is probably an exmo who is filled with hate and wants to destroy the faith of others.
Have you ever done an endowment session?
Go ask your parents. These videos are 100% what happens in an endowment session.
Way to figure it out. It’s a cult. Keep finding truth from facts from history.
It's not a secret. It's all symbolic. Temple prep materials prepared me fairly well for this. The problem is that too many people in the church think that what happens in the temple has to be kept secret so they don't talk about it or teach it well enough and send people in there blind.
Secret and sacred are NOT the same thing.
Temple prep is a joke.
Totally a secret. The word "secrecy" used to be explicitly in the temple ceremony. "Sacred not secret" became a common phrase after they removed that word. And you are right about symbolic. New temple attendees are symbolically representing their bowels spilled out and heart cut out into their hands, but they do not know it, because it is hidden in symbolism. This is all easily verified by those who personally went through the temple pre-1990 and by the transcripts found online.
It’s a secret but it’s all out now so you say it’s not a secret. The worst part for me is know how much the endowment ceremonies have changed over the years. If it was perfect when Joseph smith first received the revelations why change it now that he is gone?
If it's not secret, why don't Mormons tell anybody this is what they do?
I highly recommend you ask the bishop about this at your local ward. DO NOT SHOW ANYONE else!
Ask about the throat slitting and why it was removed. Also ask about the bathtubs they used to use. And being naked under the "shield" while your private parts were "anointed" with oil.
But DO show other people. There's no reason honest religious ceremonies should be secret. Secrecy is for cults.
Show everyone. You tell your kids to tell you when someone bad does or says anything inappropriate to them right? Then here Mormonism is hiding all this creepy stuff ‘don’t say a thing it’s a secret! Don’t tell anybody!’ Raised mormon and still live in utah sadly. Got out in my 20’s.
Preach
It's a cult
I noticed all my mormon friends houses were MANSIONS 😂
I think it's a selection effect. You can't be Mormon if you can't afford to pay tithing.
I went years thinking there was something wrong with me after the temple left me feeling anything but Heavenly bound🤦 Well, it's because it's a CULT🤮
Definitely a cult in my experience.
Does that mean Islam is a cult?christianity?
Do they try to control and manipulate people into spending money? If you don't pay money in Mormonism they can deny your a temple recommend, and that means no eternal family for you. "Families CAN BE together forever" is not "families WILL BE together forever." It's a threat, and tithing is one thing they extort. It's disgusting.
So culty 👏🏼👏🏼
I have a few friends who's 8 year olds said no and they didn't set it up. One never chose to get baptized and is an adult now and not part of the church and has a wonderful relationship with her family.
Good! I hope the culture continues to change to allow more freedom of choice without the threat of shunning and rejection.
Been in the Church for a long time😂. Throat Slitting was NEVER a thing 😂. You're getting confused with another cult.
Yes it absolutely was. When I took my endowments out at 18 years old they did the “slit my throat” thing and I was absolutely terrified! They changed the ceremony not long after that but I promise you IT WAS A REAL THING. and I didn’t dare talk to ANYONE about it, even my parents because you could not discuss anything that went on in the temple with anyone
LMAO. When i went in it was "you'll give your life" They have changed it many times.. yes, it usedto be throat slitting. You're ignorant on your own church/cult history
Look up penalties but maybe not if you're squeamish
It was called the penalties and they were removed in 1990. Just wait until you find out they used to take an oath of vengeance in the temple!
I’ve also been a member a very very long time. There was definitley spitting of the throat up until about 1990ish. I can’t remember exactly when it stopped
Indeed.
I knew a guy in high school who grew up LDS. He said when he was old enough they asked him if he wanted to be baptized. He said no which is reallt rare for a kid, and grew up unreligious in a religious home by choice.
That's awesome.
THANK YOU Strike that religion!
Wow! I’m not Mormon. I believe in something, just not sure what yet. But I like learning about what others believe. When I watch your content I literally have jaw dropping “what the?, people don’t see the red flags?, people actually believe these things?” shocked moments! Ludicrous! 😮
It's hard to break out of the brainwashing for sure. When you grow up in it you don't realize it's so weird.
Is that yarn in the background? What do you make with it?
Yes, I love yarn! I make lots of stuff! I'm Amanda Roos on tiktok and RUclips. I have a lot of craft videos.
They are not allowed to laugh out loud? WhAt?!?
Crazy, right? Luckily this is one of the things they've changed fairly recently
All those primary songs growing up Mormon talked about how special the temple was, I left the church as a teenager so I thankfully never experienced this, but if I had known this is what “The Temple” entailed as a child, my view on it would be far different
Yes! I felt so betrayed when I learned that THIS is what all the hype was about. It's so creepy.
Same here man. I thoguht it was just baptisms and a normal wedding (but in the temple). GUESS NOT
The whole temple thing (which started around the Nauvoo era as opposed to Kirkland) resolved Joseph Smith's 3 biggest problems. 1. How to save Alvin cos he wasn't baptized. Baptisms for the dead. 2. How to demand unwavering loyalty to him, amidst being challenged internally. Covenant a person's commitment with a penalty of death. Endowment. 3. How to cover and then control his exposing sexual exploitation and multiple affairs. "Justified" with polygamy and temple marriage sealings. dc132.
Yes to all of this. I've thought for a long time that the main reason was to hide polygamy, but I think you've got a point with it being a whole list of things.
