    See this is where Modern whatever you want to call in the tree industry has made it more dangerous I've been doing trees for over 30 years and if you were tied in with any kind of tensioning knot you could have reached up from the ground made a cut in the rope and lowered that guy from the ground within a matter of seconds instead you're taking minutes to climb up go above him come back around and back down the tree industry has to revert back to old ways it has become so dangerous for the new people that it is ridiculous this used to be a very safe industry now with all these modern players and offenders and all these Mechanical Devices it is become exponentially more dangerous

      What a load of rubbish! People haven't forgotten how to set up a belay-able working line - but that won't save you in every instance - plus whoever's on the ground needs to know how to use the system. The industry has moved on; commercial pressure, HSE legislation, proper training instead of some muppet in shorts and a cap throwing you a 170... There's a reason British climbers are always in demand around the world - we're not higher beings, just better trained. Everyone knows if you really mess up with a saw no ones gonna save you in time, but there are plenty of other scenarios where lives can be saved if you're open to developing a wider repertoire of working methods. Knowledge isn't dangerous - but a lack of correct implementation of said knowledge, or incorrect 'knowledge', especially combined with a gung-ho attitude, is very dangerous...

    • @jnandreas
      @jnandreas Год назад

      Assuming your climber is base anchored sure, but otherwise yeah you're going up the tree to save him. Shouldn't have taken 30 years to realize that.

    nice job mate. the ITCC should have much more in the way of coverage of this event. a live stream, highlight reels &/ or filmographers that give you your footage of your run to edit or post as you like. I mean for Christ sakes it's our version of the World Cup 😆

    • @bartonah1

      Absolutely mate, could not agree more. I've always wanted to see more footage from these things. This is the reason why I uploaded this video and plan to upload some more whenever possible. I'm working my way the the Shultz effect at the moment. Nice work mate.

      @@bartonah1 what's a world champ like you want with DIY remedial teaching vids like that? 😋 well cheers. I'm no guru but someone has to make something like it. I wish some of the leaders/ organizations in our field would follow suit instead of saying nay cuz it's a great way to spread knowledge imo.

      Both of you guys are awesome...I couldn't agree more about more coverage and professional quality videography. Arbortec is stepping up and making some exciting clips...climbing sports popularity is at an all time high with Alex Honnold and the Olympics. Someone needs to be pushing it on the tree side of things. Great work👍
