Lost Cave - Not Any More - Part 2
Took a small team back up to the cave to explore the pit. Foolishly went while sick. The 4.5 mile hike to the cave nearly killed me even with a lighter load. Still found some interesting cave and explored most of the rest of it. There's still one passage to explore, and maybe a stream bed that could be dug out and pushed further. Otherwise a good trip.

Lost Cave - Not Any More! Part 1
Просмотров 14828 дней назад
For the last 3 or 4 years I have been looking for a lost cave that was mentioned in a local history. I finally got lucky by running into Scott Sorenson who knew where the cave was and took us to it. I had passed within 20 several times without realizing it. So far the cave consists of a 20ft drop to the first room and 10 foot crawl under a bolder to the next level which has a small breakdown ro...

Got to get my gear back from the cave entrance before the next batch of snow storms come. Took the time to use my new drone to document the beautiful weather for the hike. This is the first major trip of the season. Going to Neilson's Well to help Lance ski on the snow code 300 feet below the surface. Will we make it? It's historically difficult to make it to this cave. We have over 100lbs of gear and the snow is deep. Lance has back country ski's I have snow shoes.

Have a new GoPro Max 360 camera. Because of the weather went canyoneering instead of caving. Turns out to be a good substitute.

Know the feelings regarding a Lost Cave. Saw an entry in 1962 when present for a lecture. Returned 2 years later with a school chum who wanted to see what I had found,. I named it, Vanished River, as the stone inside indicated previous underground water flow, Years later as one of the longest under California it became White Moon Cave. Because I was not the first to give it a name. It now has a resident caretaker paid to ask a County Deputy Sheriff to arrest unauthorized visitors, Another cave owner in the county allows me day visits
We call that "Cave de Lawrence". We scoured a lot of area up there before we finally found it found it. Thank you for taking us inside (Via your video) I cannot wait to see future exploration!!
Thanks for actually finding it. I think I had walked past it about a dozen times without seeing it.
How many live things have fallen down there and no one knew 😢
great video. but the music is unnecessary
Hey out of curiosity! What is your filming set up look like? I bought a go pro and I’m wondering on how you mount it for all the videos.
It's an evolving thing. Most of the film was done by a old GoPro 7 Silver, and a Pixel 4 phone. I also have a Zeadio Video Action Handheld Stabilizer that I sometimes attach the camera to with a couple of small flood lights. That in turn is tethered to myself. Lighting is the most important part. A good flood light does wonders. Will also, like in this video, hook it to my helmet though that can make pretty rough footage.
Do you have part 2 posted?
That's funny. I didn't realize I put "part 1" in the title. No there isn't a part 2 -- sorry.
Thanks for going im there , awesome

I don't have claustrophobia, I have a reasonable fear of getting wedged in whatever situation it's possible in. Had far to many lucid dreams leading up to the point of suffocation or just inevitable doom and I will never put myself there. Same way I'm not scared of heights, but I know vertigo will catch me off guard and possibly stumble, so I won't stand near an unguarded edge, I'll crawl and stick my head over like a child.
Very cool video! I saw this one while skiing wood camp this year and went to go check it out the other day. Looked promising but this one only went about 25 feet back. There is another tube about 300 feet to the east that goes a little farther back, but not by much. Let me know and I can send you photos and my GPX file if you'd like
What's the opposite of claustrophobia ? I am that, i love tight spaces.
Generally call that rate breed a caver 😁
@@cachecaver oh no 😁
I am a Hunsaker And I have so many thoughts behind this.
I like me some big crack
Would be an amazing yet scary moment when you discover a new part of a cave. Not knowing it there's some random creatur in there that's not been disturbed for millions of years. Or prehistoric diseases or some shit to kill you.
Go outside dude 😂

Is bringing a shovel a no no or something?
Just didn't have one. We were planning on just dropping the pit. From the info we had it was just a simple pit with nothing at the bottom. It had been an exceptionally dry and warm summer so the snow in the bottom had melted all the way exposing this possible lead. Originally we had no plan to actually dig.
Good video when muted with captions
Hmm idk why you would add music like who thinks of adding music over there voice lmmfao
Yea I agree hit the delete button on the boss fight music.
A solution tube with some promise. First impression is that the tube angles up, not down in the strata. Beware of sleeping bears.
Yes, will watch out for bears. This time is one of my goals for the summer. It's been a while since I've discovered it, and I tried to get at it early spring, but there was too much snow and the footing was terrible. This spring isn't helping either with the largest amount of snow dropped in recorded history still on the ground.
There are caves in the San Rafael Swell/book cliffs that are far far more dangerous
Thank you for showing the cave
Sort of sounds like the Bible but I don’t know you didn’t use Bible reference so anyways good luck who’s talking
The whole thing looks like it could collapse any time
I don’t see a problem going in but how the hell you supposed to climb out when there’s no room to bend any of your body between the rocks?
To be sure it is harder going the other way, but it wasn't too bad😁
Where do I go to do this
Go to caves.org and look for a grotto (caving club) in your area. They are generally willing to help teach. I'm in Northern Utah if you're close I'd be willing to take you.

Hello im Lilah a new subscriber. Im finding your channel to be very exciting.
About how deep are you at this point? This is so cool. Have you ever found fossils down there? How about anything strange or something you couldn't explain?
Not very deep I guess 80ft underground, but at the brink of some good sized drops. We have found some fossils mostly shell and choral.
This is really nice aerial footage! I could enjoy watching this nice work!
It’s not a cave, that’s just a sinkhole
You are right the music does screw it up, good video but next time use no music
Ah HA! So you that get to go first are then the first to DIE! .\ /. ok just kidding. Hey buddy how was it................... As he is slapping his friend in the face...SLAP SLAP SLAP.....GET ME THE HELL OUT OF HERE!
Boring....terrible camera work...
The music was waaaay too loud and really not at all necessary. Please consider not using in the future…..
They don’t know how to use the equipment And I didn’t like the video
So you used a rope to descend 8 feet into a gravel pit, and you call that "the most dangerous cave in Utah " ...?
No it was 80ft.
This music basically ruins the video.
When you realise all mountains are melted buildings
The only thing worse than climbing rotten rock has to be caving rotten rock... yikes.
I would have watched this video but I actually shut it off because of the music that was dubbed over it. No one and I repeat no one wants to watch a video such as this with a bunch of music in the background. People who came here search for cave exploration. I can promise you no one did a search for cave exploration with awful soundtrack
Pouca luz....
For me it was quite beautiful to move it around but I have no experience
I have been inside the Hyde Park Mine a couple times. Back when I was in high school with some friends, I recorded the second time, but I misplaced the SD card. Super ignorant dumb teenagers as usual thinking they're invincible, very glad no one ended up hurt. We had only our phones for lights and what we were dressed in, no helmet, no gear at all. Worst of all told no one where we were going or when we would be back. I remember leaving for the last time that summer and realizing how unstable the entrance really was. After watching a lot of caving stories and videos, good and bad, I have decided it is not for me and I will be staying away. Who knows though maybe I am remembering it worse than it was. Anyways, wish you all the best.
Yeah, I've been there too. That mine doesn't give you good feelings. The walls are so crumbly.
Good luck! I have avoided caving since the Nutty Putty tragedy. Be careful.
Interesting but the music? Super irritating.
That looks like some of the dumbest s*** I ever seen anybody do call that into a crumbly hole yeah right that makes a lot of sense
Gotta Say Go Pro 360 looks like crap and is to much for me
Thanks for you input. Certainly the resolution isn't the same, and it can be a bit much to drag the view around...
@@cachecaver yeah it was Skippy and pixelated for me
@@cachecaver maybe it needs some bit rate tweaking for RUclips. They do crazy compression.
I'll have try tweaking the bit rate and see what that does. I do wonder if it's just the nature of the 360 video. Supposedly 4k, but that for the entire 360 view and the view is only a small portion of that which gives it a pixelated look. Especially near the seams where the two images are joined can certainly have strange effects.
@@cachecaver there is no native 4k on any stream service. Its 1080 upscaled to closer to 2k. Your raw video might be 4k, but as of today we don't have the tech to stream 4k. Facts! Keep it under 2k resolutions and it probably will have less pixelation and studdering.
Bringing a mat for descent safety is awfully basic for SRT. I use scrap carpet rolled for sling carry. Ditto, clearing lip extent of garbage, logs, loose stones, etc. A pretty rope... so secure the bottom end when off it to insure all cannot be pulled out by evil intent.
A mat would have been a good idea, though around my area most of the caves have hard rock lips and have rarely needed a mat.
Just a pit, not a cave.
Mostly a pit, however there was a passage and a couple of separate rooms.
