Tierkloof 4x4 trail Vs the Western Cape Nissan Patrol group
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.2 года назад
What a exciting day this was as the Western Cape patrol group, together with Simply Overlanding, took on the mighty trail of Tierkloof, located only 10 minutes outside Rawsonville! Only being a hour away from Cape Town, Tierkloof 4x4 trail remains one of my personal favourite 4x4 routes within the Western Cape of South Africa!

Homemade custom draw system for my GU Patrol
Просмотров 2 тыс.4 года назад
A quick walk around my homemade draw system, for my 2006 Nissan Patrol! As mentioned, I couldn’t have done it without the help of Hardy @ www.upstyleliving.co.za, helping me build it from scratch as well as Dewald @ DB-Custom-Welding-2216322171762015/ for my awesome stainless steel food grade table!
Could you please share your route and where you stayed that was pet friendly? :)
Enjoyed the video. We always look for options. Would be good if you also describe the campsites in terms of accessability for disabled persons. Entrances, stairs etc. Will add value to a bigger audience
As a winner but also judge of potjie competitions, I come from a long lineage of potjie people. My one uncle was the pot bread king. Potjie isn't just any food made in a Dutch oven, but the METHOD is what differentiates between a mere stew and a potjie. A true traditional potjie never gets stirred, the meat is browned first without fat or oil added. A traditional potjie takes between five and eight hours. The old togryers called it togkos. The name "potjie" is something that showed its head maybe only 40-odd years ago.
Wonderful video! Many thanks, guys. I know the Cederberg well, having been to inter alia, the Maltese Cross, the Wolfberg Cracks and the Sneeuberg, but have never heard of Suikerbossie. However, your video is spoilt by the awful "music" which you have added. Come on, Boet! The Cederberg needs no added ingredients!
Howzit John, thank you for watching our video and thank you for taking the time to comment, your feedback is greatly appreciated. As we aren’t paying for the music, finding good license free music is rather difficult - but we are working on this. We will certainly try to improve in future videos. Thanks again for watching and providing us with feedback. Safe travels.

Coming to the West and down to the Cape next month.
hello, is it by 4x4 only or is a normal SUV ok?
Normal suv is fine - no need for 4x4

Why do you guys not clearly saybon the videos on You Tube exactly say where the places or campsites are. I want to go but have to search and hope to find the place. Map it on the video please!!!!
Hi there, thank you for watching the video and for your valuable feedback. If you click and read through the description, we have provided contact details and the email address to this campsite. Where possible, we will always provide this within the description. We dont map it on the video, but we do make sure to mention its location and proximity to well known towns. Thanks again for the feedback.
Lekker to watch. My wife nd i love your videos way more than the others on You Tube. Great job
I am looking for a secluded West Coast seaside spot to camp thats x 4 friendly - I have a bww 320D - strong car but only 2 wheel drive. Any suggestions?
Was a lekker weekend! Looking forward to the next one. Well done on the video!
Epic trip and scenery and what an amazing video - thanks for sharing love it🤗 Would you mind to share your trip route?
Thank you for watching and thank you for the compliment. The route is a easy one that can be done with any vehicle although the gravel road leading to the farm isn't in a good condition. We took the N7 into Citrusdal, from there the R303 which takes you over Middelberg Pass and then onto, Suikerbossie Guest Farm. The farm can be found and navigated to easily using google maps.
Congratulations!! 4 years, that’s awesome!
Thank you for a wonderful episode with such excellent editing, and Happy anniversary may your marriage be blessed with laughter, joy and a lot of CAMPING. God bless you all
Dit lyk baie lekker rustig daar! Ek hou van daai groot hond ook! Het jy daai landskap skote met 'n drone geskiet?
Loved watching your videos of the trail, we are doing it end of March 2022 and would love to chat to you about the amount of fuel you lugged along and where we can expect to get more fuel. Also driving a 4.8 Patrol, but will be towing a Conqueror Conquest as well.
Hi kayle Kan jy asb die roete vir my gee vannaf malmesbury asb
Hey Kyle, It’s the 3rd or 4th time I’m watching this blog of yours.. the west coat beach camp is our next big ticket item. Great videography! And that potjie looked delicious. May I ask what that campsite was called please ? It was surprising the see the jeep get stuck with the trailer. Was that a case of being caught out by driving with not enough momentum or tyre deflation? I know the camera doesn’t always do justice.. And one last thing. It’s a take it or leave it kinda deal. I noticed where you placed your fridge. Behind the passenger side head rest. My friend, it’s not your bad driving, it’s other people’s poor driving. If you have an airbag go off, that fridge will rip the head rest straight out. And you know where it’s going to land. I’m not trying to be a doomsday person. But I always pack with the idea of “if something” moves. Anyway. Love the Chanel. I always dreamt of a Saint Bernard growing up. PS: don’t forget the campsite name 😊 and how was the wind??? Peace and love ✌🏻
Howzit Jonathan, Firstly, thank you for watching our videos and retuning to the channel, we hope that you are enjoying the content! Thank you for your message too. I appreciate the time taken to type it out! Regarding the fridge, you’re absolutely right. Even things like clothing bags should always strapped down. With having the dogs in the back, it makes it hard do this, however, we now place the fridge right at the bottom, instead of what you saw in this video, the dogs ontop of it. Still not ideal. In terms of the campsite, it doesn’t have a name. It’s one of the spots which we have found over the years on the way up to Groenriver after the mining site past Brand se Baai. There are plenty of spots and locations to stay at and the only way to find the good ones is by exploring the roads down to the beach. What caught the Jeep out was very soft sand, lack of momentum, the weight of the trailer and the Driver not knowing the area well as it was his first time there; he didn’t anticipate how soft and thick the sand was in that one particular spot. A bit unlucky. If we had to detach his trailer, he would have driven out just fine but we didn’t want to go through that effort, hence opting for a very light snatch. Thanks again for watching and commenting! I hope that you will continue to do so in the future!
Cost per night please
Lovely time lapse there mnr! Looks truly spectacular with that view!
Glad you are back!
Thank you! We are glad that we could make a video again! Thank you for your support and for watching our videos We appreciate you and your support 🍻
Welcome back SO epic episode scenery wow drone footage nice happy anniversary
Thank you for the support, the kind words and for watching our videos, we appreciate you 👏🏻👊🏻
Awesome video, can't find spot on Google. Do you perhaps have the coordinates to share👊👊
OK, 🤔 found them in you description 👊👊
Thank you for the kind words and for watching our video. We are glad you found the location in the end 👌🏻
Blessed anniversary
Awesome awesome footage guys!!! Wow!
And a huge happy 4th Anniversary 🍻 rockstars!
I live with limited mobility, disabled but not in a wheelchair. I walked up Tierkloof a few times, had dinner in the cavern. The deep furrows carved by expensive 4x4's was alarming. I am glad that I somehow can still walk.
Traditional potjie never had curry or condiments. Consider the practicalities of transport riders with ox wagons. Young people don't seem to understand what "traditional" really means.
Jip. Curry stew not potjie😉
Well said on not needing all the equipment. It is nice to have kit to make your life more comfortable, but I think with some of the content guys it starts becoming mostly about all the equipment they can get sponsored
That was a kick-ass potjie Brother!
Love the video! Do you mind just sharing more or less where this spot is in west coast. Want to do wild camping so badly!!
Is their cellphone signal?
Hi Michael, cell reception is sporadic and isn’t guaranteed, it’s location dependent. By traveling on the main gravel road (before turning off to select a campsite), you will find some spots with good cell coverage. My experience is that as soon as you turn off the main gravel road or travel further north, cell reception is harder to come by.
Thank you so much it's going to be our first time can't wait thanks for reply
Awesome wow. Such a great video showing us places we have never seen. Teaching us nature and camping on the West Coast. And interesting 4x4 tricks. we only have a Rush . Definitely enjoying each video discovery and stunning drone footage. 🌞
Awesome Vid! we also busy planning a trip up the WC for Dec. from cape town, for parts 1 and 2 of your trip, would a 4x2 get through ok with back up from a 4x4? and also how did you arrange the camp booking or was it just rock up and camp where ever?
obviously not the playing in the dunes haha 😆
Thank you for watching our videos, we truly appreciate the support! You will be perfectly fine with a 4x2 provided it has high ground clearance (ie a normal bakkie) I wouldn’t advocate going in a soft roader (like a X-trail or duster). Stick to the main tracks, deflate your tyres and you will be perfectly fine. For the camping, no booking is required unless you choose to camp up at Groen river All the best, be safe and thanks again for watching our videos
Perfect, appreciate the feedback and will be doing it in a Fortuner with decent AT Tyres 👍
Great videography and sound track. Very cool. I’m glad I stumbled across your channel. I’ll be binge watching from now on. Did you need permits to camp there? And how safe is it? Thanks for a great show 👍🏻
We have camped quiet a lot on the West Coast Would you mind sharing your location of this campsite Is this on private property We have camped at Dr Beers 10 is it close by Thanks Peter
West Coast is awesome, I was there on a solo trip in April this year, great vid bra
Weskus wow op bucket lys 2023 die mollers van Secunda kom epic episode S/O
Can I make this trip with my Conqueror Companion ?
Great video created in a great place! Thanks for sharing dude!
Enjoyed the video but the background music was irritating. Fix that and more people will watch your content. From gentle music to ridiculous drumming and synthesised rubbish,
Thank you very much for watching our video and for providing feedback for improvement. As we are still very new to content creation, we don’t have much tools or equipment at our disposal, however, we do aim to improve with each video released. Thanks again for the feedback and we hope that you will stick around to watch our next adventure.
Yk.. You could also fix how you say things to be nicer rather than a, as you seem to like to say, "rubbish" person 😊
Weskus is die beskus!
That's all we need to survive!!!♥️♥️
What a magnificent cave to camp
Nice! This is so cool, where to next?
What a stunning place to stay. Nicely done Kyle and co!
Great video Kyle! Our West Coast is truly something special, will go back there any day again. Fully agree on your take, no latest / greatest / fanciest kit needed to do what you do, less is more so to speak. Simply go out & take in the experience & not the gear you do it with. Cheers dude!
Thank you for the awesome reply and support!
Excellent Kyle! We'll done on the Production
Thanks Hugh, I really appreciate your support! Thank you for watching our videos!
Great stuff man...keep it real and simple 👏
Memories of a lifetime in that place
