Rad-Nomads
Добавлен 30 апр 2023
The Rad Nomads are Cate and Mark - two young-at-heart Aussies who chucked in corporate life, to find adventure on the high seas.
We are out there dedicated to chasing the surf breaks, and generally taking the grey nomad thing next level.
We set sail from Queensland's Sunshine Coast on our trusty sailing yacht, Cadence, bound for the tropics of North Australia, and the Pacific Islands.
Mark's the oldest surfie boy alive, and just refuses to ever grow up. He's still carving it up on a short board, and teaching Cate to catch waves. When he's not surfing, he's generally cooking up a storm, or bashing out some bleak love tunes he writes himself.
Cate's the eternal salty nomad, wandering the globe in search of new experiences since way back in the day, and still up for adventure. She's the sailor girl in Team Nomad, teaching Mark in the hope that he'll not manage to sink us at sea.
So dive in Nomads, and taste the salt with us because you're never too old to be Rad!!

Ep 7 OG Bungee Jumpers of Pentecost Island
We sail to the Island of Pentecost in Vanuatu, to find the original bungee jumpers.
Land diving is a traditional rite of passage for young men and boys of the island to prove their bravery and ensure a bountiful yam harvest.
They climb as high as 20 to 30 meters on a tower constructed of tree branches, and dive off, with the support of the whole village to cheer them on.
An experience not to be missed, takes place each year from May to July in Vanuatu Islands.

Ep 6 Sailing into a War Zone: Australia to New Caledonia
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.5 месяцев назад
Our first international passage was a doozy! We sailed Australia to New Caledonia, just as rioting and civil unrest erupted ahead of us. The biggest geo-magnetic storm in 20 years threatened to take out all of our comms, including the GPS system. And then of course the wind picked up, the sea state became boisterous, and let the boat breakages begin! Jump aboard the good ship Cadence with us, a...
Lost at Sea, Song: Man Kind (Original) Live at Palmwoods Hotel, Queensland

Rule number 1 as a Rad Nomad: Life's way too short to spend it wishing...we're gunna spend it doing!!! Rule number 2: You're never too old to Rock N Roll!!!! 🤟🏼🤟🏼 And so with these 2 simple rules in mind back in December Cate ( aka Tenacious C ) decided she wanted to learn to play the keys and join Mark playing and performing his original music. So just 3 months later, we formed a duo, and head...
Ep 5 Sailing with Whales
Просмотров 58811 месяцев назад
Cate and Mark nearly collide with a sleeping whale as they continue to sail north along the Queensland coast, from Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays to Magnetic Island. Heading into Townsville central, they discover unexpected cool bars and live music gigs to dance the night away. The world heritage listed Hinchinbrook Island has us cruising a scene just like stumbling across Jurassic Park.
Sailing Sintara Sydney to Hobart Race 2022

Ever wonder what it's like to take on the iconic and hugely challenging Sydney to Hobart yacht race? Tag along with Cate, official photographer and bringer of the 2am dockside beers, as she lives the great race vicariously through her friends on Sintara, who actually did sail through calms, storms, endless sail changes, and getting tossed in the air while attempting to get a little shut-eye alo...

I would have thought the Cats would be a lot quicker ?
Not half as interesting as watching a young guy do the same thing in a 23 ft trailer sailer.

Well done guys! Nice to meet you both. John & Helen
@@equalenergy nice to meet you too. Hope you get down to Tanna one day. Mt Yasur has been smoking heavily since we arrived. We are going to post our Tanna video soon, so keep an eye out, and at least you can enjoy it on a big screen.
Congratulations Rads 👏👏
Forgive me, but chuckling and joking about accidently sailing into a war zone reveals an astonishing lack of awareness of your intended cruising environment. You don't deserve sympathy if you discount threats to a safe passage from any source.
Ridiculous comment.
Sorry, but we are sailors, not clairvoyants. There was no problem beyond some flag waving when we departed Australia. However in 6 days a lot can happen, and so it did. Luckily the advent of Starlink enabled us to monitor the situation and make a conscious decision to go inside the reef to make necessary repairs. The situation in New Cal is regrettable, but as foreigners not our argument. We were far more concerned about preparing our boat for the next passage. The sea is a formidable force, not to be underestimated.
Don't call yourselves 'rad' if you're not. Free Kanaky👍
Well done guys!

Am glad that THIS is not in Smell-o-vision! My one trip under the canopy of Lady Musgrave trees was an odoriferous experience that I don't see myself needing to ever repeat. The beaches were a much more pleasant experience IMHO.
Yes, sure is a lot of shit. 😁 Lagoon is spectacular, especially in turtle breeding season. Just love those guys
Well hello there folks. You may not remember me, Darren from Neasee. The old 40 foot cruiser parked on the corner at Mooloolaba marina. It seems a lot has happened since I saw you last 😊 great to see people happy! I have subscribed and will be enjoying your videos. Safe travels Cate and Mark 🥂👍
Welcome Darren Of course I remember my neighbour. Yes, we have lots to come. Next vid will be a jump in time to our passage to New Cal and Vanuatu. Plenty happening here. Hope you are still enjoying your QLD cruising.

Awesome guys. Just found your channel and envy ya! Let us know how your going.
Welcome aboard! Currently lurking about in the Goldie, waiting for weather to set off for New Cal. Had a blast performing at Boat Works last week.
Going well. Put on an impromptu gig for fellow cruisers in Gold Coast 3 weeks ago. Now we are finding fresh ears around Vanuatu.
Sounds great mate. Gutted I missed your set. Next time.
Awesome video guys, as we are packing our 40ft container and planning our trip up North. It's taken a while but it's all seeming real. So good seeing this video hope to see you guys at sea 😊 Jacinta, Drew and the boys
