2024 is officially upon us, so it's time to set up my 2024 reading journal! A reading journal is my favorite way to track my reading statistics each year, to ensure I diversify my reading, and to jot down any bookish thoughts I have after reading books.

Просмотров 137Год назад
Spring is upon us, at least for those of us on the southern East coast. Nothing says spring like buying a bunch of new houseplants that you swear you won’t kill this year! Except maybe this year you can actually stop killing all of them. If I had to recommend 5 tips to keeping houseplants happy to anybody starting out, these are the 5 I would tell them to start with, in no particular order. Rea...

Love this a lot. Also really enjoy your new release tracker. I’m looking forward to court of wanderers, asap, and the newest nghi vo empress of salt and fortune book 5.
Love your set up. ...definitely gonna do the savings tracker this year cuz I feel like I spent WAY too much on books last year and I do love the library. .thanx for sharing, your hard really paid off..beautiful!
How do you do a book bingo?
It’s just like regular bingo! Once you finish a book that fulfills one of the squares you color it in. You can try for 5 in a row or blackout or whatever
Love these spreads! The link to your blog doesn’t work tho 😫🥹
Yeah my domain expired! I just renewed though so the links should be working again :)
Love love love!!! I've been thinking about doing bullet journal content on my channel even though I'm just a bookish vlog style channel. But idkkk you convinced me!!! And I usually do my yearly bookshelf with all the books I read coloring them in by star rating but by genre just BLEW MY MIND!!! I think I may take inspiration and do that as well 😅
there's honestly so many different ways you can do it!
Where did you get your book clip?
they are from the Archer & Olive September 2023 Subscription Box! (Vintage Library Theme)
I have been reading for 60 years, I am going to be 64 this year and I Love books. Never thought about doing a reading journal until I saw them om you tube. Just ordered my notebook, could not get one from Archer and Olive so got one from Beechmore Books on Amazon and several sticker packages etc. Really looking forward to trying some of the ideas I have seen on you tube. Thanks so much for the informative videos. Good luck with the move.😊
Hope you enjoy it - happy planning! And thank you :)
Congrats on your pregnancy!! The spreads all look amazing. Im glad you said the time it took because I feel bad about how tired I get while book journaling or when a spread takes days to finish. 😅
thanks so much! And lol yes some of the set-up spreads can take a while. But after that I rarely spend too much time on a single spread!
Congratulations to YOU and your BOYFRIEND on your PREGNANCY!!!
Husband and thank you :)
you have inspired me to make a reading journal this year! i gave up on last years but maybe this will be the year i follow through 😂
SO HERE FOR THIS and can't wait to see it <3
The way I do it, I have a goal to read at least 50% of the books I haul that year, then also read books I've owned previously. I suppose it's kind of hard for you though, if you're tracking how much you save by using the library, maybe you're subconsciously more likely to use the library instead of reading your already owned tbr? Maybe that '$400 saved' is too tempting a stat, so you accidently don't read your own tbr?
that's very possible! I think if I track what books I purchase better, I'll be more inclined to read them. I will say though I think I did read at least 50% of the books I purchased this year.
So relaxing! Can’t wait to set up my journal!
hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
I just feel like I have to let you know that I have the same problem drawing zeros in that style font, they always turn out thick somehow
Hahaha, so glad I’m not the only one!!
I find this very endearing as someone who just started journaling. Thank you for showing the mistakes because I keep feeling out about mine.
I’m so glad it helped! Mistakes are inevitable. With time you will figure out plenty of ways to either correct it or live with it :) it’s just paper!
Welcome to "Paradise" / Aloha to the island
thank you so much!! We can't wait to be there.
Love your set up! I'm new to a reading journal, so I can't wait to get mine done this weekend.
thank you! have so much fun with it <3
Love your setup! Gave me so many ideas! Where did you get the kraft paper from? is it thick?
The kraft paper I'm using here is mostly up-cycled stuff! Like food/medication bags, grocery sacks etc. that I save and rip up :) I also have some dot grid kraft paper for when I have more writing and that I get from an Archer & Olive neapolitan notepad.
I absolutely love this set up! I can't wait to see you fill it in through out the year
one of the best parts! I'll do a flip-through of my 2023 journal soon so y'all can see how that one has filled up :)
Love your setup! I have a ‘backlog’ spread in my reading journal and your idea is exactly what I do. If I purchase a new book and don’t read it within a month (usually), I add it to that spread to make sure it stays on my radar! It works really well for me.
I think that's exactly what I'll do this year!
I love your journal! 😍For your books that you own, maybe write in your newly acquired books in a different color or font so they are distinct and then as you read them you can cross them off to both keep track of them, but also pat yourself on the back for reading them. Good luck with your move!!
Ooooh that's a really good idea! Thanks for the suggestion.
OMG, so many books coming this year LOL: Canadian Boyfriend by Jenny Holiday (1/30) At First Spite by Olivia Dade (2/13) Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-reum (2/20) Bored Gay Werewolf by Tony Santorella (2/27) (idc what it's about, I just like the title lol) Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange (2/27) The Great Divide by Christina Henriquez (3/5) The Moon that Turns You Back by Hala Alyan (3/12) The Other Side of Disappearing by Kate Clayborn (3/26) The Kiss Countdown by Etta Easton (4/9) Rangikura by Tayi Tibble (4/9) (a Maori poet!) The Swans of Harlem by Karen Valby (4/30) You Should be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian (5/7) Margo's Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe (6/11) Twelfth Knight byAlexene Farol Follmuth (6/18) (YA retelling of Twelfth Night, same author who uses Olivie Blake as a pen name) Bird Milk & Mosquito Bones by Priyanka Mattoo (6/18) Rules for Second Chances by Maggie North (6/25) Woe by Lucy Knisley (7/2) (featuring her late cat, Linney! <3) The Truth According to Ember by Danica Nava (8/6) Marriage & Masti by Nisha Sharma (8/27) A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna (9/10) If I Stopped Haunting You by Colby Wilkens (9/17)
so many books!
I liked "read what you own" [ I usually read and add after to the bookshelf] and the design of Genre TBR Lists [cute idea] and liked most Words Definitions Pages.
I love your reading journal, it's one of my favorites of 2023. I am getting lots of ideas for my next year's :D
Why don’t you simply allocate a specific amount of pages for each month to ensure you don’t get tight for pages by 2/3’s of the way through the year?
Mostly because I don't know how many books I'll read that month or how big of a spread I'll want to make for it. Sometimes I read 9 books, sometimes I read 3! And then there are some books that I want to make a full two-page spread for, while others I'm totally fine allocating only half a single page for.
So pretty! <3 (I love how this looks so transitional - like, yes, it's green and sunflowers but also a little bit fall)
yaaaaas the best of summer and fall!
I was SO sad that this sold out that fast. I'm a sucker for bees. Great video as always, Em!
I really hope they make the washi tapes available again at least, those are definitely my fav part of the box!
so fun to see the whole flip. so hard to figure out the pacing for a notebook, i always either run out or have like WAY too many pages left at the end 😅 also love all the details on the blog!!
yes this is very accurate! Last year I only JUST barely had enough pages.
Omg yess, I can't wait for u to post more videos🥰❤️
Great video ❤ New subbie here 👋
awww thank you and welcome! 🥰
This makes me want to update my own journal.. It's been a while 😅
it's never too late to start again!!
Journal cover twinsies! <3
woot woot!
I love this so much! When are you going to post an update?🥰😍❤️
Ahhh I feel the same about ACOTAR!!! 😆 I loved that you track the "a ____ of ____ and _____" 🤣 I love your journal set up! ☺ A couple of Reading Challenges I did for my book bingo last year were: Read a book with a color in the title, Read a book with a one word title, Judge a Book by its Cover or Judge a Book by its Title (basically don't read the description, just choose a book based off the cover or title)
I could not stop once I started omg!! But yeah it was so over-hyped imo. Those challenge ideas are great! And should be pretty easy to fulfill, thanks for the inspo
Hi! Where are those emoji stickers from? Love the short, and the Pouch is perfect for annotating supplies on the go!
ahhh love this! what my bones know has been on my tbr for ages but you definitely just made me bump it to the top!!!
you are going to LOVE it, I already know
This is the magic solution for my stats page!! This way I can coordinate it to the spread eeeeeee.
ooh, love your stats page colors for April <3
🎉🎉
I hope A&O makes more journals with bookish cover. Or at least re-release this one as I didn't even see it at that time it was on sale😢😢😢😢😢. This is beautiful btw♡♡
I hope so too! I believe this notebook sold out within a few hours of it going live. So I have hopes that they will do more bookish covers since it's a fan fave amongst book journalers like myself :)
excellent video! great watering/soil/light tips. and excited to get my plants climbing up :)
glad you found it helpful!! Hope your planties love it :)
I would love to have a reading journal like this. This is inspiring! ❤
thank you!!
Nice! I love it!
Thanks so much!
Wow- this is amazing! So much time and effort must've been put in for this but it shows! 🥰 I hope that I can emulate this one day 😭😅
it was definitely a labor of love but I loved (almost) every second :)
What cover is that?
It’s a clear A5 cover from Archer & Olive!
This motivates me to use my reading journal more 🥰🥰 I usually just to pages about the books I read but I think I wanna put my stats at the end of the year too
go for it! the stats page always ends up being my favorite.
Inspiring 👍🏾❤️
Thank you! 🫶🏽
Wonderful! I have yet to completely document my whole month of reading so I’m a bit green but love the way you did it!
Thanks so much! 🥰
Hi! Ok so i have a theory why your shelfie posts get so much interaction… ppl want to know HOW you set up color coding because most ppl just use type of book. So everyone clicks on it to see all your categories! Great journal! Thanks for sharing!
Oh how exciting! Your new to RUclips too! I am now all caught up on your content. I subscribed so I can see anything new from you. Welcome to the platform, it's so much fun!
I love watching reading journal videos, I find it so relaxing and motivating. I really enjoyed seeing the layouts you use and how the functionality of your journals past have worked for you. This is my first year using a reading journal and posting videos about it, so I am brand new to this community and to this hobby. Thanks for sharing your experience with us, it is SO HELPFUL!
It’s such a great way to unwind! I’m glad you enjoyed the video 🥰
