I was absolutely captivated by how impressive this origin story would impact the telling of the Mass Effect Trilogy. An orphaned character maybe two siblings, a girl & a boy that mirrors Oscar's previous life, sister in the military and younger brother, the Orphaned children of the Shepard's. Because the older Shepard sibling had left home for basic training, the younger boy was the one pulled out of the rubble, of the siblings home, where their parents died. Oscars had operatives on world, who were unable to prevent the siblings parents deaths. Quite frankly the pirates and slavers were desperate to justify their own value to their ideological financial backers, the Batarians. So they were extra brutal and disorganised. Most of the Pirates and slaver carried out their attack on planet, that countered their objectives for landing. They behaved more like a berserker force, destroying assets and killing potential slaves. This fiasco shifted the focus of the backers, to break ties, with the Pirates and the Slavers. Through back channels influential Batarians, over time agree to clean house, and feed Intel to the Alliance and in particular, Oscar ans his adopted children the Shepards the older sister through military prowess, and her younger brother through clandestine and political prowess. I only suggest siblings, because of the way this series started. It seem like a waste of a good plot. Older sister who is a military Paragon, and younger brother, who was born, because of the changes that Oscar made in delaying the attack on Mindoir. The older Shepard sibling gained a younger brother, because her parents one night, had an amorous encounter, which gave her a sibling nine moths later. Also sibling dynamic are usually always fun in a story, when they are trying to keep each other alive, and they have a father, a daddy, a parent, like Oscar, who is the most knowledgeable and influential character, in this new retelling of the Mass Effect Trilogy.

The cover art on these is weird. I'm reminded on the hyper-sexualised Frank Frazetta stuff, except instead of chicks with big tits sitting at men's feet, we have chicks with big tits with guns. Looking like cosplay elves or cats (with big tits) Now, i like a bit of sexy skin as much or more than the next guy, but it amuses me how much things change yet stay the same... As to the writing, well above the usual reddit standard. Recommended. So is the narration.
