Older style Mustangs and my ford ranger basically have the same awkward spacing between the pedal and brake. sometimes it happens to me If I'm not fully alert and awake as im picking up my feet as I press down the pedals ill wind up either missing the brake,find myself riding both pedals, or mistakenly hit the gas. Then again I also set my seat up as close as I can and have big pretty feet.

Is this even real? Judging position by the steering wheel edges!! What if I have it lowered below the top of dash? Or at what level am I supposed to have it - my steering is adjustable after all, so it the seat height.
