Taken: 8/31/2023 This was such a lucky catch! It was at the platform waiting for me as soon as I got off my train! Unfortunately I left the station before I could catch it coming back the other way but at least I still caught it.

its barely in PGC literally right on the border of PGC and DC
7000 Series now has 6 car trains some still have 8. They have 6 cars because they’re replacing the 3000 Series and the older cars off the system, due to the 8000 Series coming.

Don’t know they were always 8 car trains since they started
@@JaxBrubaker-po8ld yah the 7ks and 6ks typically run as 8 cars while the older 3ks run 6 cars (and 1ks, 2ks, 4ks and 5ks did 6 cars too before their respective retirements)
A Fond Farewell to the 2000 Series now gone all they have is the 3000 6000 and 7000 now before the 8000 Series comes out 3000 Series will retire too.
I love my dc metro I really do but the 6k series is so so so ugly. Everything about it is terrible even though it shares 95% with the 3k the 5% ruins them.
I wouldn’t say they’re ugly but they’re the worst looking trains in the DC metro. Even the 7ks look better lol. The cab windows on the front with the thick rounded black borders look really weird. Maybe if they extended all the way to the top of the bulkhead frame or least had thinner borders it wouldn’t look so bad. 2k/3k, 4ks, and 5ks all looked really good though.
@@RohrDC the 6ks have a very similar appearance to the retired 5ks
I can tell that some of these videos are over a year old, because the last one has carpeted 2k series cars.

Don’t think so. P3 uses multiple chimes at different tones. This horn sounds like it’s just one tone but really loud so it distorts a little. Not gonna lie they sound pretty similar tho

If the original Westinghouse 1462 motors are put in the 3000 series before the sendoff then it would be nostalgic. Also the 2000 series should try out the 1000 series GE motors as well.

I don't understand why they retired these trains. Should've kept them on the rails in case something happened to the 7000 series, which inevitably did.
I completely agree. They were in great shape when they were taken out of service. And instead of running more 2000 and 3000 series trains to replace the Kawasakis, the 5000s could have helped take maintenance cost off of them and maybe prolonged their service years.

I saw this gold train near Metros yard in Alexandria on Thursday. Looked weird.
On rare occasions, you would find those things.
One time in summer 2022 (i think) i rode a silver line train with 3k AND 2k series railcars. So maybe sometimes metro does do mixed railcars

My last ride on breda 4000 series was on June 18 2017 before it retired
