    • @skraminc
      @skraminc 8 месяцев назад

      i didn't do any coatings or waxes or anything to it. it only really darkens a little bit over time but that happens no matter what you do. first think i do is warm up the bronze piece before i start polishing and this cooks most of the water out of it (bronze, or metal in general will always soak up humidity from the air though) and then do the polishing and as long as you don't touch it with your fingers or get anything on it or use cleaners on it, it won't really change colors besides just getting a little bit darker (which will happen with a clearcoat or something, anyways)

  • @airplayn
    @airplayn Год назад

    I was expecting you to either leave it bronze or put such a transparent coat of color that the bronze color underneath was obvious. I guess my only thought that if you're going to paint the bronze why not just cast the balloon in resin and spray a base coat of reflective paint under the clear coat to create the same effect in a lighter and cheaper media? Obviously, your preferred media is bronze and this is a great demonstration of technique but this seems to be a bad choice of subject for a bronze since the bronze effect is not there. But then my choice of base material in a casting of this subject is probably because I have more experience in working with these materials.

      @@skraminc First, before you read below, this complex subject WAS a great way to delve into some of the more complex things you need to do just in figuring out the parting lines and cut outs and you did a good jobs, Kudos. But I have to ask, have you ever cast resin? It's VASTLY simpler and extremely less expensive.You remove that FOUNDRY! AND the grinder. And the TIG welder. Don't get me wrong, I do e Bronze casting and I have the same tool, plasma cutter, TIG etc, no foundry except for small self cat figures. I get ya man, BRONZE IT SO HOT IT'S COOL lol But I just think this id NOT a good subject for bronze for these reasons.Equal amounts, I doubt that seriously Even the mold doesn't have to be robust, you could use silicon mold which could be peeled arounf the nozzle tube without all those welds. Just encase the balloon in silicon mold. Reinforce with plated' Cut the plaster an slice the on piece silicon mold. Then rotate the resin in the mold after for a hollow cast, no lost wax needed. And resin finishes MUCH faster then Bronze. If you weren't going to paint it to make sure the customer KNEW it was bronze. But it you just wanted the contrast of a "LITE" balloon cast in metal, fill the center with lead! ;-) NOT DISSING YOU! YOU ARE AN AMAZING CRAFTSMAN but I could have put my resin balloon (if cast with the same molding and paint skills (automotive clear coat) and WEIGHTED it no one would have known. (UNLESS THEY DROPPED IT AND YOURS SOUL HAVE BEEN RUINED, MINE WOULD HAVE BOUNCED)
