Ingredients 1 cup white sugar ½ cup unsalted butter 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour 1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder ½ cup milk Directions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square cake pan. Cream sugar and butter together in a mixing bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating briefly after each addition. Mix in vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder in a separate bowl. Add to the wet ingredients and mix well. Add milk and stir until smooth. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven until the top springs back when lightly touched, 30 to 40 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely.

Pound Cake Recipe: 1. Grease and flour your baking pan. Shake out any excess flour and set aside. 2. Beat the butter until smooth, then add sugar. Cream until light and fluffy. 3. In a separate bowl, combine eggs, egg yolks, vanilla, and salt. Slowly drizzle egg mixture into your butter mixture with mixer on low speed. Pause to scrape sides and bottom of the bowl, then increase speed and beat for another 1-2 minutes. 4. Reduce speed to low and gradually add flour. Scrape and stir again on medium speed until well-combined, then beat for another minute. You should have a completely smooth, uniform batter. 5. Pour batter into prepared pan, smoothing the top. 6. Bake in 350F oven for an hour and ten to an hour and fifteen minutes. Test with a wooden skewer for doneness. 7. Cool for 20 minutes, then run a knife around the sides and center of the pan before carefully inverting onto a cooling rack. Allow to cool completely before serving.
