Geminid Meteor Shower 2023 (6 hours+, condensed to 1 minute, 15 seconds)
How many can you count? I counted 18 total. About 5 faint, 7 medium, 6 bright. 2 planes toward the end (blinking lights).
Meteors are visible typically as a line appearing faint, brighter, faint . It probably would have been a bit more impressive if I disabled the "star trails" effect. It was too cold in Raleigh to be outside all night, so I used hyperlapse mode. Taken with my phone on a tripod (Samsung Galaxy S 23 Ultra),

David Letterman August 19, 1992. 2 Person Standing Ovation
Просмотров 1899 месяцев назад
Just came across this old clip we had from our visit to Late Night with David Letterman. My wife and I were the only ones to stand up for him (the show's first ever standing spontaneous standing ovation), so Dave acknowledged us. We had a great time, he was the best! This version ruclips.net/video/Ai52wrXY4dk/видео.html is a bit sharper as it's from the DVD itself.
Complete landing in Maui, Hawaii 8/31/23 Challenging 30 mph winds

Turbulence as we're passing by Lanai, and then Molokai in the distance. I was on assignment to help survivors and the homeless due to the devasting wilfires of August 8, 2023. The big drop occurs at the 1:11 mark, but you can barily see it just by looking at the wings. And yet, on approach with the difficult winds, the pilot made the smoothest touchdown I've ever experienced on a commercial air...

Galaxy S 23 Ultra short time lapse of of the conjunction with the Moon and Venus. Pure luck that a meteor happened to transit the moon at the 4 second mark.
Time lapse. Meteor captured on Galaxy S 23 Ultra (at the 20 second mark).

Taken early this morning. Although not easy to see, the airplane appears at 19 second mark, meteor at the 20 second mark.

Apparently, he was trying to do a hummingbird impression ;-) Although I would doubt he's also able to fly backwards! Taken today with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S 23 Ultra).

Mike Barnicle is so wrong about Willie Geist's marathon effort
Просмотров 622 года назад
Mike Barnicle, a Boston journalist and Morning Joe contributor, equated Willie Geist's inspiring NYC marathon performance of 3 hours, 58 minutes to Roger Banister (who was the first person to break the 4-minute mile). Geist ran the marathon for his father who has Parkinson's disease, a very emotional tribute. But his average pace was actually 9 minutes, 5 seconds per mile. Barnicle was not joki...

who was giggling at every dumb word?
He gave him the left stink eye.
Jeff was the best imitator of Brian's voice. A few slight intonation problems here and there... but still excellent. RIP Jeff.
The voice behind the beach boys in later years
1:00 listen to those harmonies
a humble genius being patronised by an egotistical trump supporter.
Rest in Peace Jeff. Us Beach Boys fans will always remember you.
Carl used to do the same, just cut off his boring dribble and announce the next song.
Rest peacefully, Mr. Foskett. A wonderful musician and a good man.
Briiaaannnn Wiillsson...Yeah ...Jeff did the same introduction in Boston 20 years ago . Gave me chills as I have been buying and listening to the BEACBH BOYS since 1983i saw Brian's band 10 times and the BEACH BOYS , original cast with Carl 10 times . With Dennis less than that wheat he died in '83 . Always a great time. And I always took the following day off from work so I could let the music swirl around my brain. LOL😅
How did you get the circular star shot
I just love seeing David Marks getting to sing and play on songs he never got to do when he was out of the band
jeff foskett performed wotj Papa Doo Run Run at the RISING SUN NAVY BEAN FESTIVAL around 2008. A great talented musician that was very down to earth and a wonderful human beiing. RIP jeff
John Cowsill on drums.
I saw these guys in concert in 1979 with my first and last love ❤️
Mike Love's appearance in this video literally made me lol
Drummer does a great introduction as well as Jeff introducing the band members. Great to see all of them together after all of those years!
Fabulous singer rip sadly missed
BRUCE BRUCE BRUCE
RIP Jeffrey. What a voice.
Rest in Peace Jeff. The voice of an angel is an angel and you fought valiantly.
RIP KING
RIP Jeff. Met you in 2008 at a private David Marks show in London, with my Dads band called the ladykillers. Thank you for being so kind.
RIP man
Just heard he passed very sad to hear, saw him in 2012
I went out last night from about 9.30 to 11.30pm and felt let down, didn't see any really big ones. First off it is super hard to get a clear night in December, then you have to factor in if it will be a moonless night. Then you gotta battle the cold on top of this. So seeing the Geminids is not as easy as the Perseids. So I was happy to see it was clear this year, no moon, reasonable temp. Unfortunately during the time I went out I only saw mostly small zingers and one long streaker. I didn't see any of the magnificent green bombs that I have seen in the past. I just couldn't stay up late and called it a night. I did get to hear some coyote's howling. When they got close to my position it was pretty spooky though. Oh well, another year I guess.
Rest In Peace Jeffrey Foskett...such an incredible voice and integral part of Brian's return to the stage. I feel so lucky to have seen "Pet Sounds" performed live with Brian, Jeffrey and the incredible band back in 2005 at the Mann Center in Philadelphia. Easily one of my favorite concerts of all time.
is that Today?
Yes, midnight to about 6:am EST today.
Jeffrey Foskett passes at 67 from thyroid cancer.. The work Jeff did over the years providing such sweet sounds, often covering for Brian or Carl, can never be credited enough. Even the stage positioning, in vids like this, allowing Brian to take the crowd's 'vocal bow', even though nearby Jeff was doing the 'heavenly high' vocal work. Jeff..you will always be one of the Beachboys to me. Brian's closest stage ally. Thank you and Godpeed. r.i.p. sir.
Jeffrey Foskett, Longtime Member of Beach Boys and Brian Wilson Touring Bands, Dies at 67 ..... Satanic = 67 / Dies at Sixty Seven = 67 / RIP = 38
RIP Jeff. Thanks the awesome talent you brought to The Beach Boys over the years. 🙏
Rest In Peace Jeff...Your music is your legacy,. You will be missed and always remembered.

R I P Jeffrey Foskett. Thank you for all your years of entertainment.
RIP, a wonderful man with a wonderful voice. I was at a Brian Wilson show once and Jeff was the highlight of the show, such energy and positive vibrations from him all through the show. Stayed after shaking hands with anyone who was hanging by the scene. 🙁
I was lucky enough to see Jeff on this tour at Bethel Woods. What a great musician !
RIP Jeff a true underrated legend 🕊️
He was a great soul too.
What a wonderful band and a wonderful man you are a true friend to all of us and we will always love each and every one on the band thank you all for the awesome music cause you guys rock.
Brian is right. Mike is nasally.
I think Mike Love’s problem is that he tries to be a frontman for a band that just doesn’t need one. He’s trying to hard to be a Mick Jagger type when The Beach Boys really don’t need a frontman. It just comes off as pretentious and unnecessary. Imagine if Ringo was trying to be the Beatles frontman, it just wouldn’t make sense, because the Beatles didn’t need a frontman.
I mean technically none of them need a frontman, but the difference is that Mick Jagger and even Ringo Starr are likable. Mick is very funny onstage but even then he would do banter sparingly, usually to cover Keith changing guitars or something. Even Ringo, while he can be a bit hokey, can do his “Peace and Love” or “I wonder why they’re all taller than me” shtick and a little of that goes a long way. But again, that’s because everyone likes Ringo and he carries the lovable underdog persona so well. The problem is Mike tries so hard to be hip and he’s… just not… at all…
@@JTCurtisMusic oh hey bro I love your channel, definitely wasn’t expecting a reply from you 😂 and I completely agree. I actually saw Mike Love in person with his Beach Boys band a month or two after leaving my original comment, and I have to say I actually enjoyed his performance, believe it or not. He was FUNNY, something I wasn’t expecting from him. He made jokes that landed pretty well, he interacted well with the audience, and at the end when he invited some people onstage to dance with them for “Barbara Ann,” he put a young mentally handicapped boy on the spotlight, danced with him, and gave him a fist-bump, which kinda made me like and respect him a bit. As the singer and only technically original member, it’s obvious he was being given most of the attention, but it never felt like he was trying to be a frontman necessarily. I honestly really enjoyed the show and his performance, it gave me sort of a new perspective on Mike. I still think he’s sorta a pretentious asshole, but seeing him in person being just a chill old dude made me forget that for a while.
Is it just me or does anyone else think is super creepy to hear a 70-year-old man (at the time) talking about cheerleaders in high school?
it’s been creepy since he was 30 lol
hey mike love is a ladies man, if being a ladies man was a crime lock him away!
The guy who does the Brian melody (falsette) is always out of tune!
Bless you buddy😮😢
59! Sing 🎉! Love the brain on Brian.😊
Great concert!❤
Brian hates Mike and found a way to not talk to him without ruining the show
the stank face at the end haha.... love brian
It's actually kind of sweet what Mike's doing, in a certain way. They probably hadn't seen each other in a very long time before the 2012 tour (or after) and Mike was probably trying to take some time to reminisce and remember the old times while he had Brian there with him. It's clear he loves his cousin deep deep down, he just shows it in weird ways.
I saw it that way too. I know Brian can't stand him, he has his reasons, but a lot of people just say "they can't stand him" just because Brian can't stand him. That's unfair.
@@DeeckyRizzo can’t stand him, but it isn’t because of Brian. I saw The Beach Boys one time and he spent the time in between songs ridiculing the crowd for not being into the show enough for his liking. He was a complete jerk the whole show
@@TheVCRTimeMachine But would you agree that a most of the people only hate him "just because"? It's the thing you're supposed to do with the Beach Boys. Like blaming Yoko for the Beatles sepatarion. As I just read in Mike's book: "For the people who think Brian can walk on water, I will always be the antichrist".
Yeah, in the Disney documentary Mike broke down and said he loved Brian in a way that seemed quite sincere.
@@shecklesmack9563agreed. Mike's a real piece of work, but you can't fake the crying in that moment and the sadness he feels over the relationship not being as good as it might be.
Without m. love there could be BEACH BOYS!....Without BRIAN WILSON, there could be NO BEACH BOYS!
