Retroid Pocket 2S - Performance Showcase (Wii, PS2, GC, Naomi 1/2)
Here's a short showcase of what this little device is capable of with some tinkering.
Platforms:
1.) Wii: 0:00 - 8:21
2.) PS2: 8:22 - 14:55
3.) GC: 14:56 - 22:01
4.) Naomi 2: 22:02 - 24:49
5.) Naomi 1: 24:50 - 26:02
6.) Misc: 26:03 - End
*I don't really use underclock/cycle skip on PS2 as in most of the games I tried, it had no worthful benefit for speed, but it introduced noticeable frame pacing/skipping issues. As far as I can tell 2S, for higher end platforms, is limited mostly by GPU, rather than CPU, so heavy underclocking doesn't help much in GPU heavy titles.
For PS2 disabling deinterlacing is the highest perfomance gainer, for GC it's VBI skip. Wii kind of either runs well or it doesn't, ...

You mention haptics cause major slowdown,so if i turnt them off for fzero it will be faster even though its nice now and less choppy music?
I imagine that with the mmjr emulator setting down to half resolution would help with wii games
thanks for showing me how capable this device is for the 115 price.
Thank you! I stumbled upon the vbi skip by accident and was blown away by the difference. I was expecting to have issues pop up or something since so few of the suggested settings i ran across mentioned it Also for Metroid Prime (gc) I've gotten useable perfomance for both opengl and vulkan but, with issues on each. Vulkan had slightly better performance but won't show the map in menu (or anything more than the text and the tabs). Opengl shows the map and still runs well...for 45 mins give or take with the exception of my available ram gradually decreasing until it crashes ar around 700-800mb left. Savestates let you to play around it with only 20 secs of breaking immersion at most every 40-50 mins. Def wins out over having no map but its frustrating to have to keep checking my ram so i dont lose my chance to save.
Can you give more info about the settings to disabling to gain more fps? i cant find "disabling deinterlacing" in nethersx2, and also cannot find "VBI skip" on dolphin :c, im using mmj and "for haldhelds"
I can't find it in the handheld version but its under settings>graphics settings>hacks Between "vertex rounding" and "save texture chache to state"
Very informative with settings, emulator version and playability! Great job! Thank you.
Played with the setting in F-Zero after uploading the clip, with all hacks enabled except for backend multithreading (causes the game to reset after mode selection) & dual core manually set to enable, it runs full speed.
