Nevermind was good but bleach was way better, it was my first time hearing Nirvana. When I heard nevermind I didn't recognize them and when my mate said "nah it's Nirvana that did bleach" I was a bit cross, I thought they would out because they sounded different. But then I learned to really really like nevermind. Then in utero came out and that was a masterpiece and it was similar to beach....the roughness. I love Nirvana. They were a bit overrated.. specially when Alice in chains came out first. AIC had better music and Layne was better singer. Nirvana reminds me of an abstract painting 👍🏻🎸 AIC reminds me of an abstract illustration/drawing. Both were/are brilliant, but at 48 I've grown to love AIC more.

The solo is great because the guitar effect is almost the same sound of his voice. I can here him singing in the background though a megaphone hello hello hello how low. Howl low go yea

Nobody had a voice like Kurt. It's funny because I was in the group of friends that was into Dr. Dre and Snoop, and my other group of friends was into Nirvana, and as different as the music was. We all could appreciate each other's music. I love this record, and this wasn't their only great song. Just listened to it on streaming now, still holds up. It'll hold up forever. Gone too soon

Thing about Kurt was, he just wanted to be himself - but never really knew who he was - that's something he was targeting, for all of us. Some feel the same way.

  • @khaaleliilighntingcoronado9009

You knock off Michael jackson from number 1, kill hair metal and sexism rock n roll, carry MTV to a new platform of youth viewers. Kurt is such a business man. He knew what his music could do with just one big shot. Teen spirit was his big shot and the rest is history.

Is this the same Gary Gersh in this video, that, according to Steve Albini, was threatening to withhold release of In Utero because the record label was crying about the material on the album and the way it was produced? I'm sure the remaining members of the band were and are very fond of him. He must have a hefty set of nu*s to show his face in this film.

my experience to music came from my uncle, who was a massive stereo fan, and a heavy metal metallica guy, which quickly became my favorite band. when he put in nevermind, i remember it so vividly, that album cover became gold to me, it was the only thing i wanted, but i was only 8 or 9 n wouldnt own it until i was like 13, via napster! walmart didnt have the tape. it was such a different sound to heavy metal an classic rock, which were my only two musical knowings, that an what i thought was shit pop radio music which ive grown to appreciate. wasnt till like 1999 when we got our first comp, and i lived on napster at bout 14 that i finally was able to burn the cd

I still remember the first time I heard Teen Spirit and Nevermind. May 5 1999. I was on a bus on an 8th grade class trip to Dc. The guy next to me offers me his portable cd player and gives me Nevermind. I hit play and the first few chords started to Teen spirit. Then the distortion kicks in and I remember the hairs on my neck started to stand up. By the end of the song my life was changed. I still, to this day, have never had anything even remotely close to that type of profoundness happen again. Those are the moments that make life worth living. Thank you Kurt , Dave , Krist and butch. You all changed my perspective on life for the better

I think my favorite thing about Nirvana was how they took the drums, bass and guitar and ran right against the melodies of the vocals. I'd never heard anything like that before. Dave would play the drums right on time with Kurt's vocals.

Im a black guy who grew up in the 90's , i am a huge hip hop fan , i would never listen to music like this ...But there was something about this song that stood out , at first it was the guitar solo i liked , then later the whole song became more appealing to me as i heard it more and more , and even til this day it's my favorite Nirvana song it turned me on to other Nirvana songs and other bands., so yeah' this song is special there's just something about it.

I went to visit a friend at the University of Pittsburgh in the fall of 1991. I cannot begin to explain how many times I heard this song in 3 days on campus. It was blaring from every other dorm room, out house windows, at every bar, 6am, 2am, 1pm, in the dorm showers, everywhere.

I was there, and it was beautiful. Back when MTV and radio was all we had to discover new music. When this song came out, something in the air changed overnight. A whole generation found their voice. It was like a tidal wave that changed pop music in one fell swoop.
