As I explain in the video linked above, they cramp the space between the controls and the foot pegs. For my son with a size 10 boot, it works alright, for myself with a size 13, it's way too cramped between the foot peg and shifter lever. We have had some of the teeth/cleats come loose, but they haven't fallen out.

It definitely wouldn't hurt. But I believe the fasteners on that linkage are lock nuts, so it shouldn't be needed.

It probably does restrict flow. If we wanted to squeeze some more power out of it, we could run a full system with a larger header, but the muffler accomplished what we needed. A little more responsiveness and power and lower temps on the muffler.

I haven't personally ridden a CRF 250F, but I have ridden my fair share of 250 four strokes. That being said, the power of the 300R comes on strong at the low end and is very manageable. It's mellow compared to a motocross style bike and puts a lot of power to the ground. I ride a Yamaha WR250F and the power of that bike pulls harder from the bottom all the way up through the high RPMs when compared to the 300R. That being said, the 300R is designed to be more of a trail focused machine and I find it very fun to ride with no lack of useable power on the low end. It won't tire you out as quickly as a tuned 250 either. I hope that answer wasn't too long!

The forks raise up in the clamps, thereby lowering the front of the motorcycle. In turn, your handlebars will be lower in relation to the ground. However, they will not be lower as compared to the rest of the motorcycle (the rider triangle). By raising the forks in the clamps, you are essentially lowering the suspension in the front, very similar to lowering the rear.

I wish there were more footpeg options available. I'm going to look around again. Quite a few of the steel teeth/pins on these pegs are coming loose now.

We raised the forks in the triple clamps as much as possible. You can't get very much out of them, but enough to make a big difference. Without raising the forks in the clamps, it has a strange head angle and feels very low in the back. If you lower the back, adjusting the forks (in my opinion) is necessary.

I agree, I don't like the sound of the stock exhaust after the baffle/spark arrestor is removed, or the performance. That being said, the exhaust modification wasn't intended to produce better sound. It was an attempt to lower the temperatures of the mufflers (which I stated in the video). We have since installed FMF exhaust on each bike. A Q4 on one and a Powercore on the other. If you want to hear a better tone, we have exhaust sound comparison videos posted, I encourage you to check out those videos. I personally like the Q4 the best.

I doubt it affected top speed very much, but it was definitely an improvement in power. The bike revs more freely and the throttle response is better with the Q4. Top speed would be more a factor of final gearing, but the Q4 would definitely help you reach top speed a little quicker.

That is unfortunate. I hope that the dealership you purchased the motorcycle from will repair or replace the motorcycle. I have owned many different brands of motorcycles and unfortunately, with every brand, it is possible that a motorcycle was produced that has quality control issues and problems right from the factory. I have owned a couple different Kawasaki models, and they do have their quirks, but overall seem solid. I hope that your problem is solved and you don't give up on it just yet.

Thanks for asking... and no, we did not install the spark arrestor when we tested the muffler. I forgot to mention that!

Thanks for the info! They do seem like great bikes so far. Pair valve delete is on the list of modifications and we already have parts for the skid plate (and linkage protector) and re-gearing. Maybe we'll do a tuner in the future as well for the same reasons you mentioned. We've got videos posted of the pipes and small things we've done so far... more to come.

Nice! I think they are a great bike to start with. Plenty of power, but easily manageable. I hear you with sticking with a new model. We went with the leftovers just to save a little money on the pair, and they were available.

I never said they were the best sounding bikes in the world. The goal of modifying the exhaust was safety oriented. We add aftermarket exhaust in the following videos. Hope you have a better day, stay safe out there.

We did notice that if we chop the throttle from wide open to nothing, it will backfire. Other than that, it runs great. As far as being lean, I plan on pulling the plug and diagnosing it. I'll post some video when I do, so stay tuned!

​@LagBros_3 I had a 2021 klx300r. At the time, no aftermarket exhaust was available, c0vid era. So, I had to make a complete system for my bike. I first tried removing the stock baffle like you did. But it didn't do much. The pipe I made made a big difference, though. But what really helps that bike us the Dobeck fuel tuner and opening up the airbox. I think I did the pare valve delete kit as well. Also, replacing the o-ring chain with a high quality non o-ring frees up some power. Those bikes are a lot better than they get credit for. The mods I did made it even that much better. It is tall, though. But it's hard to beat for tight trails. Especially for the price.

@@bmotomo421how did you open up the air box?? Just drill holes or something or?

@Gigachadly If I remember correctly, right under the seat, you'll see a snorkel and cover. They both should pull out. We work on a lot of bikes, so it's hard to remember exactly. If I'm wrong, yes, you can drill 4 or 5 one inch holes in the top of the airbox. But I would recommend getting the fuel tuner before you do it. Letting that much air in without adding more fuel will lean out the mixture and cause it to run hot. If you are interested in a full system for one of your bikes, let me know. I took the system that I made off before I sold the bike. It's trail ready with a built-in spark arrestor.

That must have been quite a bit of work to build a full system! Sounds like a cool project. I agree, these bikes don't get enough credit at their price point. And yes, there is a snorkel that can be removed, and I'll have to do some research on the pare valve delete. Before I do any of that, I am going to get a tuner as you mentioned. In my opinion, these bikes already seem to run hot so I don't want to make that any worse.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. We have assumed that the exhaust is so hot due to a lean tune from the factory (probably for emissions). The barrel of the FMF exhaust does run much cooler than stock, so it's been a big improvement for now. We haven't seen the EJK tuners before, so we'll look into them for sure. The Dynojet Power Commander is already on our wish list, but now we'll have to compare it to the EJK.

They are heavy bikes for sure. We have videos coming of some FMF exhaust options, they shave quite a bit of weight from up high on the bike, so that helps a little. I don't think there is much benefit to the weight. Maybe a little more traction in certain circumstances? But that's a stretch. We like the bikes for what they are and we plan on keeping them too.

We have some FMF videos coming soon, so stay tuned! We're testing out a Q4 and a Powercore4. The bikes run just fine and there is actually a noticeable power gain. They do backfire if you chop the throttle from wide open to nothing. As far as being lean, you're thinking in the right direction. I worry a little about how lean these bikes are, they seem to run hot right from the factory. Maybe I'll pull the plug and diagnose it just to find out and let you know.

@@LagBros_3 yea i noticed the header gets red hot after 1 minute of idling from factory so i blocked my pair valve and it was a bit better. maybe try that with the slipon and it will help

I've been looking into the pair valve delete. It's going to have to go on the list of mods.

I didn't look into the psr links (I'll have to look them up for reference). The Koubalinks were a nice black so we were lucky there. We run the lowered bike back to back with the stock height bike and we actually like it lowered. The tall and short riders we've had on it liked it. It somehow seems to hook up better and lofts the front end a little easier. So it's great for some riders especially with shorter legs.

@LagBros_3 I wasn't to impressed with them I had to sand the holes out they wouldn't fit without making the holes bigger even though it was the right one for my bike it worked out after making the holes bigger 😅

We have been running the FMF Q4 on one bike and we just installed an FMF Power Core 4 on the second bike. So far the muffler body itself is much cooler than stock. The exhaust header still gets extremely hot of course, but I think that these bikes are tuned pretty lean from the factory for emissions purposes. We are going to get more exhaust videos up soon, stay tuned!

We chose to lower it because we've got some riders that are moving from smaller bikes to full sized bikes. The KLX300R (with a lowering link installed) splits the difference on seat height between a smaller bike and a bigger one. The lowering link actually didn't seem to hinder suspension performance and adds some extra safety for riders with shorter legs.
