The Man in the Moon Stayed Up Too Late (By Bilbo Baggins) - Irish Folk Style
This time we have an interesting poem from the Lord of the Rings. Written by Bilbo Baggins and later sung by Frodo in Bree, I think this tale works perfectly as a folk ballad. Since this was a more whimsical tale, I decided a cartoon would be a fun way to visualize the story.
For some brevity to the character introductions, one stanza about the plate and spoon were cut. The "Hey ho, what a night it was!" chorus was not part of the book poem, but was added to create a more song-like structure.
Music was created using Suno. The artwork was originally created using Leonardo.ai, and then heavily Photoshopped to get things right.
Thanks for listening and hope you enjoy!

Hey Ho! To The Bottle I Go (At The Green Dragon!) - Irish Folk Version
Просмотров 26 тыс.28 дней назад
A couple of my favorite Hobbit drinking songs! I decided to use the chorus from the film version with "Hey Ho!" rather than "Ho Ho Ho" as in the book, because everyone is likely more familiar with the film song. The song is quite short in the book, so I used it as the chorus, and used Merry and Pippin's Green Dragon song for the verses. The third verse ("under a tall tree I will lie") was an at...
Down Down To Goblin Town - Irish Folk Version
Просмотров 6 тыс.Месяц назад
This time we've re-imagined the classic song from the Hobbit, "Down Down Goblin Town." Lyrics were used to closer match the book, rather than the Rankin Bass version. A less involved video for this one. Music created using Suno and then edited and restructured. Hope you enjoy!
Bilbo's Walking Song (Lord of the Rings) - Irish Folk Style
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.2 месяца назад
A Hobbit walking song using lyrics from Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. Sometimes referred to as "Upon the Hearth the Fire is Red." I thought this would make a fun Irish style pub song. Song was created using Suno and then edited traditionally. I tried to make the video as vision of many interpretations of Hobbits on an adventure. Made using a mix of real footage and artificially rendered scenes. Hope...
Where There's A Whip (There's A Way) - Irish Folk Rock Version
Просмотров 11 тыс.2 месяца назад
A re-imagining of the classic song from the 1980 movie "Return of the King," to be more of an Irish rock ballad. A few adjustments of the lyric structure to make a longer song. Music generated using Suno and then edited. Video clips from the animated Rankin Bass movie.
Tom Bombadil's Song - Irish Folk Version
Просмотров 4 тыс.2 месяца назад
An attempt at making a fun pub song for Tom Bombadil. Parts of different versions of his songs from the book were mixed together. Music generated using Suno and then edited using traditional methods. AI imagery was used for the video, so if you see some funky shapes, blame it on magic or too much ale?

What a exciting great song! I too would have stayed up, enjoying the music by the cat with the fiddle while dancing, making the dog laugh, and perhaps jump with the cow over the moon! As the sun rises I, like the many patrons of the Inn, will go to bed and fall asleep!

Here are the lyrics to the original poem for those who are curious: There is an inn, a merry old inn beneath an old grey hill, And there they brew a beer so brown That the Man in the Moon himself came down One night to drink his fill. The ostler has a tipsy cat that plays a five-stringed fiddle; And up and down he runs his bow, Now squeaking high, now purring low, Now sawing in the middle. The landlord keeps a little dog that is mighty fond of jokes; When there's good cheer among the guests, He cocks an ear at all the jests and laughs until he chokes. They also keep a hornéd cow as proud as any queen; But music turns her head like ale, And makes her wave her tufted tail and dance upon the green. And O! the rows of silver dishes and the store of silver spoons! For Sunday there's a special pair, And these they polish up with care on Saturday afternoons. The Man in the Moon was drinking deep, and the cat began to wail; A dish and a spoon on the table danced, The cow in the garden madly pranced, and the little dog chased his tail. The Man in the Moon took another mug, and then rolled beneath his chair; And there he dozed and dreamed of ale, Till in the sky the stars were pale, and dawn was in the air. Then the ostler said to his tipsy cat; 'The white horses of the Moon, They neigh and champ their silver bits; But their master's been and drowned his wits, and the Sun'll be rising soon!' So the cat on his fiddle played hey-diddle-diddle, a jig that would wake the dead: He squeaked and sawed and quickened the tune, While the landlord shook the Man in the Moon:' 'It's after three!' he said. They rolled the Man slowly up the hill and bundled him into the Moon, While the horses galloped up in rear, And the cow came capering like a deer, and a dish ran up with a spoon. Now quicker the fiddle went deedle-dum-diddle; the dog began to roar, The cow and the horses stood on their heads; The guests all bounded from their beds and danced upon the floor. With a ping and a pong the fiddle-strings broke! the cow jumped over the Moon, And the little dog laughed to see such fun, And the Saturday dish went off at a run with the silver Sunday spoon. The round Moon rolled behind the hill, as the Sun raised up her head. She hardly believed her fiery eyes: For though it was day, to her surprise they all went back to bed!

Fun bit of trivia: An "Ostler" is the guy who usually takes care of the horses at the inn and not the owner himself. Sometimes they could be both though, also Hostler is the US version but the original British version...which Tolkien was VERY much British, is Ostler and dates all the way back to at least 1386. My mom used to raise horses before I was born so I've done research on people who care for horses back in the old days of both Medieval times but also the Old West as that was my mom's favorite time period to read and watch stories about...my dad was more split between Old West and Medieval period.

Thanks for the trivia! At the end of the song, I put the Ostler sleeping in the hay with his cat as a nod to him being a stablehand. Glad you've got some fond memories to think on! Cheers!

Initial work done using AI, yes, but plenty of "human ingenuity" was used. 2 weeks of time spent photoshopping every single image, editing audio, and creating a video. I'm not just plugging things into AI and throwing out the first thing I get. I spend a lot of time trying to make a fun bit of content for free on the internet. Some people enjoy it, but not everyone has to. Thanks for the listen! :)

A part of me is miffed this is AI...another part really does like this because it sounds great and I'd love to hear actual people do this cause a lot more of the lyrics are from the book than the Rankin Bass cartoon one which to this day is still my favorite version of The Hobbit.

I know AI isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's the best way I can make these songs for fun! I do a lot of refining to get these songs the way I want them, not just uploading the first thing that AI spits out. I'm trying to stay true to the book songs for a lot of these, so I thank you for appreciating that! Thanks for listening!

Actually, Howard Shore used Irish music as a base for the Elves' music that he mistakenly involved for the Hobbits' music considering J.R.R.Tolkien based the Hobbits from those who live in Northern England.
