2024.07.28 King of QR - TAKING HOME THE WIN!
Returned to King of QR for the first time in the new BRZ to hopefully set some new PBs.
Came away with 1st place in my class and the quickest NA car behind a Porsche GT3RS which was pretty amazing. I hung around the top 25% of the field all day was pretty awesome considering QR is a bit of a drag strip and I am way down on power compared to the turbo cars.
The day started off a bit slowly while unexpectedly smashing the limiter at 7,400 on the first gear change with the latest race tune not loading correctly. After a bit of a reset of my driving style managed to get back into the grove and be down on my PB by .3 while being way down on power.

Final session of the weekend at AusTimeAttack. After dropping the times over the weekend I finally had a 1.32 lap in the bag until the exit of the last hairpin where I stuffed the exit and ruined the last lap of the weekend. Made our way down to Winton for the practice day before AusTime Attack with Track School. After learning the track on some old rubber during the day and some in-car training I bolted a fresh set of tyres on to bed them in for the weekend. First session on sprint getting used to having to use 2nd gear again in the dipper after swapping diffs...didn't really ramp the throttle up all that well! Spent the morning pounding around on the QR National circuit in preparation for AusTime Attack. After doing 30 laps I dropped my PB by over half a second on some pretty second hand rubber. Best Lap of the day on the K Layout was a 1.25.2 - so close to a 24. Best Lap of the day on the E Layout was a 1.08.7. First laps after a busy off-season and not being in the car since Subinats in September 2023. Managed a best of 56.9 on the sprint layout which is only .2 secs off my PB. Why? It was an NA running ethanol
It has only really been an issue at T2 at QR - the accum sump has sorted it out. We haven't seen any issues in the data Morgan Park, Sydney Motorsport Park or Winton over the past year.
Hey mate, what’s the dash? I have an 86 and would love to buy something similar that reads the oil pressure and temps. Also the timing module on the left side of the windscreen?
What diff ratio are you running? Doesn't look standard from the overlay data.

great lap mitchell, i used to go happy laps and sprints with 86brz clubs with a blue mx5 nc and a yellow renault megane rs, i have a zd8 as well rn overseas. could u possibly tell the experience u had with cp9440？ im looking to buy one of these now, thx
I just learned this setup is running 0w20. What's the primary reasoning behind that? Does it mitigate the low engine oil pressures somewhat? I'm honestly just confused on what to use on track days.

Hi Mitchell, do you have any acceleration figures i.e. 60-110kph, 80-120kph, 100-200kph. Very interested to know how much quicker the headers and tune make it.
Hi James - sorry don't have any actual acceleration figures - butt dyno is a lot quicker especially in the mid range
