Ninth Configuration feat Ron Hadley of Beyond Possession
In the vibrant music scene of early 1990s Calgary, the aftermath of Beyond Possession's breakup saw vocalist Ron Hadley embark on a new journey with Ninth Configuration. Renowned in their own right, Ninth Configuration had already cemented their presence with two successful albums and a strong foothold in the local scene. As they geared up for live performances following rigorous rehearsals, they recorded their jam session for a demo recording.
Tragically, before further plans could materialize, Ron Hadley made the difficult decision to part ways with the band, relocating to the coastal shores of British Columbia. Despite this setback, remnants of their collaboration endure in the form of ...

Looking Back at a Road Crew Orange House Party Show: A 30-Year Retrospective
Просмотров 97Год назад
On this day, the thirtieth anniversary of that house party, it's hard not to think about how much time has gone by. It's a whole different world we're living in now, in the year 2023. I can't even remember the last time I was at a house party that was as wild as that one was. As I watch this video of myself, I can see where I was getting my ideas and attitudes from. I was a little arrogant and ...
The Ramones play High River, AB at Infest '93 Music Festival. ( Stabilized, still pretty shaky)

I've made an effort to digitally stabilize some of the shakiest footage I have of The Ramones performing at Infest '93 in High River, Alberta. Unfortunately, I don't currently have access to the original VHS, so this may be the best result for now. Although the footage may still be shaky for some viewers, I hope it's still enjoyable. Thank you.

Take a trip down memory lane with this rare footage of a Calgary-based punk rock/alternative band performing live at Studio-A-Go-Go, a now-defunct venue that was once a thriving hub for local music. Sharing the stage with other notable bands of the time like Beyond Possession, SNFU, Ninth Configuration, and Six Feet Under, this band eventually relocated to Vancouver and changed their name to Ru...
The End of an Era: Beyond Possession's Last Skate Jungle Show - January 1990

Beyond Possession is a band of conviction, and its members refuse to have their names published. Their leader fears it would detract from the group’s identity. The group’s name is taken by man to imply an association with Satan and the demonic hype with which heavy-metal bands often flirt. Not so, say the members of Beyond Possession: rather, they claim they are beyond being possessed by ego an...

The Ramones In-Fest '93 part 1 High River, Alberta, Canada During the August long weekend of 1993, High River, Alberta became home to the second three-day festival in that location in two years. Once again, overnight, hordes of punk rockers and grunge rockers soon exceeded the population of High River itself. Not unlike its predecessor, Highwood '92, In-Fest '93 played host to over 40 bands dur...
RIP Mitch.
Three days of debauchery; old friends unite; I was stage left behind the speakers during this show hanging out ( nursing a twisted ankle from the Violent Femmes the night before ) with the guitar player from the Doughboys who also headlined.
I was working security detail that weekend! LOL
I have a ton of stills from this festival...pivotal weekend of my youth!
Can you post them somewhere? Be cool to see.
Rad!! Do you have the whole album?
Yes. You can download it from calgarycassettes.org/
Ten bands ten bucks McMahon stadium
15 bands for $15 at Mewata Stadium?
I approve
Do you have footage of Bad Brains?
Unfortunately not. Just the moments you see before The Ramones. Sorry.
Gonna be my 21st bday show 30 yrs later coming up here. Some dude puked on my leg going in. Right at the gate. Made me follow suit. Had to stay outside the fence for the show. Thank you, you glorious son of a bitch.... Finally got to see part of what I missed. Caught every other show but that one.
I remember that weekend
@@ShawnLearn what are you doing the 10th? Nofx final shows in Edmonton. I'm not missing that like I did the Ramones.
Fun to see that. I was there. Brings back memories!
The Ramones must have done more than one set. I went for one of those days, and I remember the sun still being out when the Ramones played.
Not that night. They kicked Bad Brains off the stage mid-song because they had a strict contract regarding stage time. What you see is what you get.
The truth is, nobody cared about their projects if Chi Pig wasn't involved. He WAS SNFU! They wasted and lost so many years would that "find myself" BS. SNFU will always be one of the best things from Canada.
I was there. There was a barrier that fell over that we were jumping on like a trampoline. Great show.
I bet I was at that show! Dead End Joey here!
I would believe that you were. How are you doing, Joey! Cheers!
I love this band
Was there and too fucked up to remember... good times🥳
☆☆☆☆The band the Fixtures could never be! P.C. is and always will be one of my all time favorites! Their music is getting harder and harder to find⊙ Thanx for posting this badass footage, much respect and appreciation from the heart☆☆☆☆
This is fantastic. Goddamn that was a weekend. I missed this show cause some dude puked on my leg going through the gate and started a chain reaction with myself ffs. 21st birthday, dry heaving outside the fence, all I saw was Joey's hand's above his head once in a bit. You just made my day.
Ya know, this is awesome to see, but Card's playing is super sluggish! Weird that they'd be touring with Dave Rees and Goony by the end of the same year
Sorry to see Ken go. I spent a LOT of time with him. We were part of the leading edge of skate boarding in Edmonton in the late 70s. I have tons of stories to tell. I still manage to skate a few times a year. @@BULR666 Thanks for that.
Rest in peace, Chi Pig
I like it when he jumps into the audience.
That's me up front getting squished. I saw a lot of single shoes lying around in front of the stage after the show.
BAD ASS CHI PIG LOVE Y MAN OR Y KNOW''''
I was there working one of the hot dog stands :)
what track is it at 5:56?
"In The First Place" from "Better Than A Stick In The Eye"
Thanks so much!!!
Ha! I'm in there somewhere. That pit was brutal - sooooo dusty and too many jocks that either didn't know their own strength or thought the point was to cause pain to everyone around them. I remember laughing when I noticed the song order and stage banter were exactly the same as on their live album. Still, the fucking RAMONES, right? Thanks for posting - here's hoping more of these turn up.
The Cherubs were the BESt!Definately the best memory i have of this fucked up weekend
His Pigface shirt!
A LITTLE KNOWN CANADIAN PUNK/HARDCORE BAND IN A RARE LIVE VIDEO. THESE GUYS WERE THE REAL DEAL! Personality Crisis, from Winnipeg, released only one album Creatures For Awhile, back in 1983. Off the results of that album and this live video, I have to say they were one of the greatest Canadian bands of the early 80"s. Check out this live clip if you like top of the line punk.
thank you for this
One of the absolute best bands of the era. This fucking rules.
I recorded this interview on VHS when it aired on indie street when I was 14. Think i still have it somewhere. I was so glad to get video footage of SNFU, probably watched it over a 1000 times! Thanks for posting this, haven't seen it in years. Kinda funny looking back, as there's maybe 10 seconds of the band actually playing...
I was there, too bad no other video of this fest has surfaced. There were so many good bands. The Bad Brains were my favourite. Before the show began the security tards lined up at front of the stage (I assume it was given The Bad Brains reputation), when the singer told them to get the fuck off the stage the crowd went wild! I also caught one of "The Smalls" frizbee's, I wish I still had it. The best fest I've ever seen in Alberta.
The barricade came down during the Bad Brains - with their encouragement - and the Ramones refused to play with out it. The atmosphere was pretty charged up for a bit, shit was getting chucked at the stage. To us it felt like folks were close to rioting, but that may have something to do with the mushrooms we'd eaten earlier. Tense situation, at any rate, resolved by lining the stage with security goons so the Ramones would come out.
Calgary will never see a festival bill like this ever again. This was a once in a lifetime show. I remember Wes the promoter telling me he had to break up a near fistfight between Rick Didjit and Monte Melnick
I was there, lost my boots and stayed in the pit with just socks on ,so much fun. Ramones, Bad Brains, Didjits, SNFU,Cadillac Tramps, Dayglos, and on and on .
Plus Big Drill Car! It was an epic weekend.
I was next to the "Gabba Gabba hey" guys with the big banner. I have some awesome stills of Joey Ramone standing above me with his foot on a speaker and pointing into the camera! That festival was epic.
Cool! I have a couple of photos but they are shit! ;) And yes, it was.
I would love to buy a print
That was my friend who made that sign..So many amazing memories came flooding back while watching this.. Was at the the front of barricade and then underneath the stage during some of Bad Brains..
@@ilanarhian could I please buy a print off you. I live in High River and would donate it to the museum.
anybody know of the story about this concert Daryl Jenifer stated that one of the Ramones unplugged the Bad Brains to make them stop playing, did anybody notice any conflictions
I know what happened. The Bad Brains ran over their time and we're shut down so The Ramones could play.
oh ok thanks
The Bad Brains kicked the Ramones ass in my opinion.
BB encouraged the crowd to pull down the barricade and come up to the stage, and then the Ramones wouldn't come out without the barricade. Pretty close to a riot at one point, til they lined the whole stage with security goons.
os melhores
i'll try & dig up the tapes & get back to you when i've located 'em. if the tapes are still playable, we can sort out details/emails,etc & i'll send them to ya. yup, personality crisis is easily, hands down one of the top 5 canadian bands of all time. no room for debate.
If you're interested, I can send you copies of my sources... not too many dedicated PC fans around anymore, so I'm happy to share... on the off-chance you do feel like digging yours up, I'd be more than willing to trade rare Stretchmarks/Unwanted/PC for the tape... I've been working on a live retrospective tentatively titled "The (Personality Crisis) Case History" for months now, and this rendition of Vampire's Dream will be included.... wanna use the best quality source I possibly can. Thanks!
That's very interesting to note that both angles were broadcast; the only known TV-sourced footage I have is the Dan Pachet interview where they play LP cuts with this angle's footage to accompany the audio. My full copies of both angles are from a VHS received in a trade, info attached only says "2nd gen", figured they were privately released by someone at VPW. I know somebody who lives in Winnipeg and has the ability to transfer Betamax tapes to digital...he'd be very interested in this!
The script of world-shaking decisions: We said, "Hey. Geez. Let's get back together." They went, "Hmm. Okay."
coool..never had a chance to see em live..T.Y.
Do you have copies of both angles (or any other PC footage)? Mine are maybe a single generation up from this source, but could definitely be improved upon... please let me know!
Excellent book! So are his others... Canadian punk rock history....
Threw this in my "Canadian As All Fuck" playlist , Cheers !
this gig is the same as Monterey Pavilion,Winnipeg april '83. it's just a different camera from the 28 minute vid.
So that's what the Belke brothers look like (I'm reading Chris Walter's book on SNFU).
Love It !
