That’s a good question. We did not tip our driver but that might be because both my wife and I come from cultures where we don’t or hardly ever tip. But I think it’s always appreciated and you can never go wrong with that!

Ouch, yeah, with the massive tourist surge here in Japan, all the hotels have seemed to adjust their pricing for them… But you can still find award nights for 95.000 points per night which might make sense here

Unfortunately I am not sure about which pickup locations are available but would strongly believe that the airport and the main train station are in the mix. Not sure about the price but it’s pretty certainly not complimentary. Can really recommend this IC! It’s always nice to stay in something really modern imo

Glad to hear that! To be fair, I did not have the chance to try out the lounges - at least the Taipan (?) lounge that only comes with a specific room category looks quite nice. But the rooms and the breakfast certainly are not for everyone…

That’s a fair point - the price helps to put it a bit in perspective. I’m seeing a few dates at around 1,300$. However, the bad food and the recliner seat would still prevent me from taking this flight again. I’d categorize it rather as a mediocre premium economy class.

Haha, it was just funny how the hot water thing added to the bad experience of the restroom because it was so messy. Wouldn’t blame the crew for that, though - some people just can’t keep the restroom clean :)

Totally fair if you’re okay with this product! I think, Cathay doesn’t make much money on this route and uses their old product here. I had a connecting flight HKG-NRT that was shorter but featured the A330 with the reverse herringbone and a flat bed. That was a godsend on that red-eye flight ✌️

The fruits for dessert were good, haha. But besides that, no. This is a terrible product which I cannot recommend to anyone :)

Oh, I didn’t know that some Voco hotels come with a club lounge. That might be worth exploring. For me, the breakfast really was what dragged down the overall experience. The rooms where absolutely fine

Hey Larry, I liked the hotel actually. If you don’t mind the limitations of the breakfast, I think you can have a great stay here. Not sure on the laundry on site. I believe I saw it but you might wanna check with the hotel directly for that!

Hey Michael, thanks for your comment and I agree with you that the seat belt is a bit bulky. I wish, it was at least evenly bulky on both sides - that way, it didn’t pull so much downwards on just one side. Unfortunately, the route HND-SIN is only connected with the B777. Would have preferred the A380 but that has to wait for a future flight on a different route.

Heya, we did get a small upgrade (albeit we just came with a good status so I’d reckon the upgrade gets better at platinum). Unfortunately, Ritz-Carlton breakfast is NOT included with your status so you’ll have to pay for it. It’s around 50$, so certainly not cheap. Hope, that helps :)

I can surely be demanding at times. But you can just take whichever points from the video make sense to you :)

Thank you for the kind words! In regards to your question, that's a tough one since you are basically spoiled for choice. You have pretty much every hotel brand available on Bali! Apparently, the beaches on the east side of Denpasar are nicer to swim in. So best is to narrow it down by your favorite hotel chain and see what they have in the area. Hope that helps!

As far as I know, you can only access the first class lounge of the airport you are departing FROM, not the airport you are flying TO. :/ There might be some exceptions depending on the airline you’re flying with, though. Chances are rather low, however.

Hey there, HK is definitely worth a visit. I took the hiking video during summer, which was quite rough. Temperatures go up to 35 Degrees Celsius (95 Degrees Fahrenheit or so?) and the humidity is high. The nicest time imo to visit is around spring time. In regards to the nicest indoor pool, the Ritz-Carlton Hongkong has a fantastic indoor pool with a stunning view!

The sand itself was fine but don't expect white fine sand. More the yellow-ish slightly coarse sand. We didn't try snorkeling nearby but I'm sure there's tour operators that offer that. I reckon that you would have to drive out a bit into the sea to get away from the sea weed. From my impressions, the water itself was clean. Not much trash or foam, if any. Of course, that can change quickly depending on the season, wind direction, etc. unfortunately. Hope that helped :)

During our stay there was a conference so the guest profile leaned a bit more towards that (meaning the pools were less used, which was great). I also heard that the lounge is now properly open and operating again so that makes the property even better!

Thank you for sharing, Robert! Must have been great to experience such a long history of this property. Out of curiosity, is there anything specific you dislike about the rooms, such as the layout, etc.?

When it was the intercontinental, was it more plain? Which was best?

@@unmatchedvoyages You'd have to see what the original room designs (elegant and classy) were to understand. Rooms now look like something out of GenX, hard to understand the designers concept...or maybe I'm just too old!

I think as long as you’re following the rules and guidelines that the staff have put up, you should be fine! We never felt unsafe, at least. Most wildlife we encountered on site was pretty spooked by us and ran away quickly :)

Hey Eric, yes, we came with a diamond status. Upgrade from the smallest to the biggest room was of course a strong perk. Besides that, the 25% off all food and Spa expenses are really valuable at this place, since you’ll eat on premise pretty much exclusively. We saved quite a good amount through that :)

Hey Wayne, ANA undoubtedly has some fantastic business class products, include it’s THE ROOM seat. But this seat type is on the older side, so when pondering whether this seat is a good value (for me), I take that into account. Not everyone might share my thoughts or put the same weight on the same things as me, of course. In regard to the amenity kit, I actually use the kits on flights. I also love to use the toiletries kit from flights as my main kit when traveling. :)

While I generally agree with you that the change after the revamp could have been bigger, the atmosphere and especially the attention to detail in the Regent is still something that is hard to convey in a video and better to experience in person.

Reach out to the Manager and let thrm know you'll be celebrating your birthday. Once they confirm at check-in with your passport, you might get an upgrade and some "Extras" to make special memories! Good luck and Happy Birthday!

That's a good point. Definitely a bit odd to have the bathroom as a space to pass through. I didn't mind being there with my wife, but it can be a bit odd indeed if you're there with someone you aren't as close with

@@unmatchedvoyages Actually, it is just not a bit but extremely. I was thinking of taking my mom to this place and now no more! Didn't you say they spent billions of HKD to renovate this hotel?? Did they even think about this??

@@kelvinwong4804 My assumption is that they had certain constraints with the floorplan layout of the building, as well as e.g. ceiling height. A complete rebuild of the building might have cost a multiple of that. It might be worth checking out if all the rooms have this layout or if there are some that are designed differently. We only got to see this one room type.
