How to Make 3D Laser Cut Name Signs using Cuttle.

In this video, we look at three different ways to make laser-cut name signs with multiple layers. The three approaches give us a look into how three different modifiers - Flatten, Weld and Score, and Layered Stack - each work and when we would use them. Flatten creates an inset look which lets you use two different materials but is tricky to assemble. Weld and Score uses a single material but y...

Just found Cuttle. The ease of use seems to be to good to be true. Thanks for the training videos.
Thank you very much your video help me a lot 👍🏻
Great video! Thank you so much!
What kınd of wood did you used?
This was some Light Maple Plywood from glowforge shop.glowforge.com/products/maple-plywood-finished?variant=40944788111458
Thanks, for sharing that. Never noticed the link to edit the templates from the site
Thank you. Great inspiration.
Hi , Thank you for sahring this very valuable info. May I know what is the best size of text to cut in laser? Font size or in inches/cm. Thank you
Hi, it really depends on the laser and the material that you are cutting. But it could get as small as 14 points (about 0.19 inches). What are you trying to accomplish?
@@Cuttle Noted and thank you for the reply. I'm trying to cut text to do double layer cake topper. 1 layer is offset solid shape ofthe test. On top I want to stick name in cursive text. I was trying to do 1 and all the thin line broke off.. Thatswhy wanted to ask this question. Thank you
Have to pay to upload into svg really seriously really thats a scam
How do you tell Cuttle to Score some lines in the center of the design while telling it to cut the outside? The new Weld and Score is great at Scoring the lines that overlap the outside layer but not the center of the design
actually I figured it out. Once you drop the "fit text" on the screen and select the connected font and it is highlighted in the upper right hand corner just apply the "boolean union (weld)" modifier. DONE!! How clever cuttle is...
Is it possible to weld the text together inside the "fit text" modifier instead of the letters being spaced apart? I am creating gift tags using the first method now (using a connected text) but would be nice to use fit text using connected text so I don't have to adjust it manually. Hopefully that makes sense.
Very detailed and well explained!
New to laser engraving, will definitely attempt a box
You did not bother to tell us that cuttle is a subscription service, it says I get some free downloads, but it is not true. If I am wrong then please tell me how.
You can create 5 free projects and you get 10 free downloads per month with the free account.
@@Cuttle I have found no way at all to download a project, All I get is a message to join and pay.
Where's Federico
What a fantastic idea to do paint parties. How do you do the DIY Kit? Do you provide glue to attach the letters to the backing? Are those little pots of paint enough for each letter?
Great!
I've barely scratched the surface of what cuttle can do. I mainly use it for connected font generation that I then use for other projects. Crazy to see how the variables/reference points can be used for these templates. A lot to learn.
Thanks!!!
I didn't see the link for the file in comments, where can I find it?
Here it is 🤗cuttle.xyz/@cuttle/Custom-Name-Sign-Live-Session-25-mMEEWPqSvUPt
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial. Part 1 and Part 2. I can't wait to get started with inlays. The template is genius. 💚
Cuttle is awesome!
You make issues so clear! I love your videos. Thanks so much❤️
Hi Federico, your videos have helped me do really well in my design exam. You're an amazing teacher and Cuttle is a great platform. Thank you very much!
Excellent tutorial. Thanks!
Can you make it out of acrylic?
I just made a post about these last week, basically identical to Gwynn's, and it received 190 comments in about 6 hours. I will announce the winners in a few days once I have my website functional! Thank you for this!
I have fast Internet and a very fast computer. When I try to open the tree deal with a free account, it just sits and spins. Will not open. Any ideas? I've already used 2 of the 5 free designs, and have nothing to show for it. It looks like a great program, but I don't want to spend any money just to try it.
I see now that it is only available with your paid subscription. And your free designs don't interest me at all. Too bad. I really wanted to try this program. But I'm not going to give my financial information for something I might not even want. Sometimes, it's nearly impossible to cancel a subscription. Oh, well!
Great Job Federico
Some letters may need 2 holes like the letter M. how would we move the hole for that?
Unfortunately all my nearby city mom groups doesn’t accept promotions or business posts which makes hard for me to Marketing in social websites
Gwynn is just amazing. I've been following her for so many years now. Always an inspiration and huge help. Thank you Cuttle for making our workflow process so much simpler.
Totally! I'm very impressed with how Gwynn approaches her business and her generosity in sharing with the community! -Toby
I am so scared to post in the mom groups! I need to be brave and just do it. I sold about 40 of these last year rather organically. Imagining this year if I actually put it out there.
what a great video! I'm excited now.
Glad you liked it! -Toby
For the pro account subscription it seems a little expensive per month when the library is limited in content, or am I missing something?
Thanks for the embed comment, I have now added it to the readme.
Great video. Does the inlay piece need to be the same depth as the outside piece. i.e. if the outside is 3mm wood, must I use 3 mm for the inlay?
Thank you so much! Very insightful and helpful.
Now for a sliding lid too?
I just love you and the way you describe the techniques in the different videos. i've learned so much. Thank you!
The dude is creepy as hell but is very good at teaching. you can't judge this book by its cover.
A very interesting take on kerf
Love this! Can I use this technique to separate out the names for the snowflake name ornament? I’d like to cut the names from acrylic then inset them and place on the backer…is that possible?
cuttle subscription is way too expensive. you can also select the numbers and type the size in instead of dragging
So glad I found this! ❤
Great video. Explained very well. And box looks clean and very tight fit it seems
It is very cool, but I just tried one using a photo I had printed at Walmart and found that due to the kerf I suppose, the puzzle was really loose fitting. Federico, did you notice that as well?
Love love love your videos! Keep up the great work!!!!
for your material thickness you said 1.34 inch and entered the correct value of .134
