I came to learn about silat cause i saw a manga about arena fighting and the character who i liked used this dope stance like a Mantis and he was parring attacks with an elbow, he was using Silat.

Unfortunetly silat never reach martial arts level it still a killing arts. Every teaching in silat is just subdue(kill) your enemy as fast as posible make it practice to kill up to 3 enemy. Every silat that has become a martial art are like so rigit and hard to see. Kick the ball, stab the eyes, puch the throat. Are the most basic in silat after all. That why the competetion are like robot and pitiful to see.

Started Silat back in the late 70s, along with Muay Thai in Malaysia, where I was born. And picked up FMA when I moved to California. I primarily focus on Silat/FMA today as it is harder to do MT in my old age. 🙂I am glad Silat has more exposure today through social media and its influence on many other combat arts.
