Blade Runner 2049 is a masterpiece. It's not supposed to be colorful, beautiful or action-packed. It's a depiction of human decadence. People succumbing to their inner sins and flawed desires. People becoming actually dead inside. You can tell by the way everyone speaks. Officer K is just a product of such society, a monotonous hunter, hunting even more monotonous outdated people, who themselves are also a product. The feeling this movie gives you is otherwordly, ethereal even. No other sci-fi work (maybe except for Cyberpunk 2077 for me) has ever captured this depressing, yet poetic, paradoxous atmosphere.

Of course it is about decadence but I don’t know if you’re colourblind but 2049 had plenty of colourful scenes
@@kanelewis7534 Of course, but most of the movie is monochromatic. The only colorful stuff you see is all the ads shoved on people's faces. When K is driving over the city, for example, it's completely gray and ominous. The radioactive place he visits to meet Deckard is almost exclusively colored in shades of orange. Everything, except for the huge advertisement holograms, is depicted with a single, "main" color at a time.

@@SheriffDeputy1337 lmao I don’t think I have to elaborate further but I will for the sake of our youth. The cyberpunk genre was dubbed in the 80s following several works of science fiction exploring themes of humanity and technology, most notably Bruce Bethke’s short story “Cyberpunk” which coined the term and was applied to subsequent works such as William Gibson’s Neuromancer. Movies like the original Blade Runner are further inspired by these books, and cyberpunk the game and anime are entirely based off these visual and thematic bases. I’m beefing with a 10 year old probably but someone has to educate the youth, that is if they can read this much with that attention span of theirs
