Powersheds - a sneak preview of how a garden shed is made.
10'x8' Pent arrived for me this morning. I will complete tomorrow but with reservations. Due to the poor garden site I opted to rid the turf, then prep a perfectly reasonable 4"x 2" sub base (Exactly 10' X 8') on blocks amid a covering of scalpings on ground liner. I hadn't caught up to the modular construction drawings of the small base sections (which cannot line up to standard floor joist measurements,) so I will have to (sheet) reinforce the floor in due course to get rid of the springiness. The other main problem I have had to rectify is that the Floor sections assembled to (8' 6") and I have had to cut off the excess inches along the 10' length of the base modules so that the side panels (cut correctly to measurement) would fit to the base. It has been a damned frustration to sort out and will have cost me a packet more than the original cost. My call to the help line seemed to advise either ((improvise)) which I have done.... or it would be a proper wrangle to get swaps and changes arranged... That was a no go because I have recalled my house contents from storage on hand under a crappy gazebo to save eye watering storage costs. The shed will become a good usable facility - but it will have become a bleep bleep more costly and unsatisfactory exercise than I expected.... PS I am a retired carpenter/builder so have been able to dig myself out, but pity any other customer who runs into 'surprises.'
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re sorry to hear about the frustrations you experienced during your assembly, and we appreciate you sharing your thoughts. It appears the issue with the base may have arisen because our shed footprints are slightly different than their nominal sizes (i.e. a 10x8 shed does not necessarily mean the exact base size is 10x8'). We always recommend checking our technical dimensions which are on the product pages to help ensure everything aligns smoothly during installation. We’re glad to hear you’ve been able to make adjustments to (hopefully) resolve the issues, and it’s great that the shed will become a usable facility. If there’s anything further we can assist with to improve your experience, please don’t hesitate to contact our team and we will do everything we can assist you.
@@powersheds Thank you for responding to my comments. However I would still take issue with the fact that 10' x 8' would not normally give freedom for a base to be 10' x 8'6" with an expectancy that the upright panels would fit - which of course they did not.... Matters were compounded today as I wrestled with the damned modular roof components also. They too did not fit, despite the video which was no help for the erection of an oversized shed with multiple modular components. Other measurements were sloppy and cannot be justified as acceptable practice under any circumstances... Whoever heard of construction of 'anything' being allowed under widely variable tolerances! I even asked the opinion of other handy neighbours who also agreed the modular design was at best to suit the manufacturing supply and not the practical fitting. I gave up in the end and have ordered sheet materials to give me a strong and stable floor, and also rafter/ bearers which will enable a 'proper' uncompromised roof to be formed... Whichever way you cut this, the design is not user-friendly, the materials 'just' manage and are borderline fit for purpose. In my professional life I have constructed probably dozens of sheds / beach huts/ summer houses etc. I rue the day I decided to waste over £1.K of my retirement money to save my efforts... and instead just build another decent shed myself. Lesson learned - along with the acceptance that a formal complaint would just end up as a yah-boo behind excuses to justify poor quality, design and practice. 'Not Professional and not acceptable.' PS...... (Now Next day) ----- Despite proper new rafters, I found that the ''''modular'''' roof panels actually do NOT fit the 10' x 8' size of the construction anyway Duh!!! Sorry, but the whole lack-of-quality-and-money-worth-design deal is beyond belief. I will continue myself today to try and make a silk purse out of it to end up with a 'cut my losses' finished product which is usable.😞 (BTW. My experience shared on Facebook)
How long is the assembly time? I'm thinking of getting the 12x8 Pent
@@aaquibislam1524 Building a garden shed can be quite a daunting task for those who have not done it before. Our garden sheds do come with fixings and assembly instructions to help you put it up. But, even with this, many customers often ask how long it will take them to assemble their shed. If you have not chosen to get someone to install the shed for you then, then the shed is designed so that you can install it yourself without prior knowledge. Don’t forget, this does not include the time that it takes to sort a base. Our sheds come with a floor (many competitor sheds don’t) but it still needs to sit on a firm and level base. But how long does it take to install the shed? This does depend on your experience and skill level, but as a guide (for someone who has not put a shed up before) you are looking at around 4 hours on average. 4×4 to 8×6 sheds - 2-3 hours 10×6 to 14×6 sheds - 3-4 hours 16×6 sheds and above - 4-5 hours

Base-treated wood frame needs a damp membrane before untreated wood is installed. Wood will warp like crazy within 2 weeks leaving gaps.
Thanks for your comment! The use of base-treated wood frames without a damp membrane is standard across all log cabins of this style throughout Europe, and we don’t encounter the issues you mention. That said, if you feel water is likely to pool around the base due to the location of your garden, adding a damp membrane could indeed be a consideration. We’ve sold thousands of log cabins and have never received feedback about floor bearers rotting or warping. The floor bearers are pressure-treated for durability and are securely screwed to every single floorboard floorboard, making warping very unlikely. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us.

I am about to place an order, will I be ok putting the shed directly onto a decked area? Decking is very study and level as a starter...
Yes - providing it is level, this will be fine
I’ve just purchased my second 14ft x 6ft Pent shed off you, the first being 14 x 8ft, it’s being delivered tomorrow and the first one was absolutely perfect, been up a year and it’s still as good as the day I put it up, can’t wait for tomorrow for the second build. Best regards Ray

How long does it take to put together?
For a team of two people with limited to no experience, you can generally expect the cabin installation to take around 6-8 hours, so it's a good idea to allow for a full day. The time can also vary if there is a carry and depending on the distance between where the cabin is delivered and its final location. Some builds may extend into a second day, depending on individual DIY skills and overall capability. Any issues and our website has an installer directory of specialist cabin installers across the UK
I bought my power shed almost a year ago. A very easy shed to put together and a year on its looking like it did on the first day I put it up. I would highly recommend this company. I came across them completely by accident, but I’m so glad I did. There was a slight issue with the delivery which I think was nothing to do with power shed themselves but after a phone call a lovely lady phoned me back and sorted it all out and it arrived on the day they said.
I’ve just finished building a Powershed log cabin. Everything, from ordering to delivery, quality of materials to ease of build, support to finished look was superb. I researched the market extensively before buying and the Powersheds value for money was unbeatable. I’m using the cabin as a studio and it’s an absolute pleasure to work in it, congratulations guys on a superb product.
Recently bought a potting shed combi, it’s great! 👍
You don’t show how the put the lock on pointless
A lovely cabin, both to build and look at, but the grammar of the instructions is AWFUL! 😢
@@JohnB-g8l Thanks for the message. We are sorry to hear that. If you could email the team any feedback it would be really appreciated and helpful 👍
I bought a 14 x 6 Shed from Power shed based on this video and quality of materials used. However the shed I received is constructed with very very bad quality , tiny pieces of cut timbers , many broken cladding pieces. The demo video is not reflecting the real quality of power shed material. So I ended up buying plywood for walls. In general it was fun building it, I learnt something new that by drilling a hold in tiny timbers, the dont brake.

How to install garden shed apex roof. Skips the apex ends of the roof 😂
Hi. This is to felt the roof, not how to install the roof itself. That can be found on our Power Apex Shed install video. Hope this helps
Just received my 2 x 6 Pent Bike Shed with no Heavy Duty Bearers so not a great start!
Sorry to hear that. Please can you email our customer service team so this can resolved as a priority
Hi. Would you recommend the pre drilling of holes when building the sheds?
Yes. We would recommend pre drilling
Can I assemble this directly on concrete slab or do I need to build a base first?
Yes this can go straight onto a concrete base providing it is level. If the base is in a position in the garden where rainwater is likely to pool on the base and around the shed floor you may wish to consider lifting the shed off the base for maximum protection of the floor with additional bearers or a Power Base Kit. Most people would simply put the shed straight down onto concrete
Amazing! Thank you for such quick response!!
Does it come with levelling feet as my ground is uneven?
Should all the sheds come with x2 double bearers as we received a 12x6 with just two single bearers
We have changed them to single bearers rather than two joined together
can these be taken down?
Yes. But you may need to get new EPMD as that may have to be cut off
@@powersheds okay that's brilliant thanks!
Is that an impact driver you are using?
Yes it is. Can use that or a standard drill
I’m putting together a 20 x 8 size. Regarding the floor panels ( 10 to nail together) how can I turn them over once nailed together? Is it easier if I did two together then flip them over?
Yes we would recommend doing this in two or three sections rather than trying to turn a whole 20x8 floor over. You can then screw them back together by screwing through the top / sides but an an angle
You Plonker, you put the DOORS ON BACK TO FRONT 😅😅😅😅
The doors can go either on the front or the back which means you can choose whether you want the doors on the low side or the high side 👍
@@powersheds The Diagonals Always go down to the HINGE SIDE, that then makes the doors STONGER.
@@MayLing-xh5rc thanks for the feedback. Our doors are built in a frame so we do not believe this applies to our products. However, we respect the opinion and wish you all the best. Thanks for commenting on the video
@@powersheds You Really Are A PLONKER. When you hang a gate or a door, the Diagonals Aways Face the BOTTOM HINGE. By doing that they cannot WARP OR FALL OUT OF SQUARE. think you need to go back to SCHOOL
When you hang a gate or a door, you always put the Diagonals facing the bottom hinge, by doing this it not only makes them stronger, but it stops them from warping and falling out of Square
You make it look so easy 😊
What size shed is this?
This is an 8ft x 6ft
I'm going to play that music when I put mine up lol.
It will be in your head forever!
This video was useful to me for building 12x6 shed. Very helpful. Loads of screws supplied so you won’t run out. Very happy with my shed. However when I was sat on the roof to put the nails for roof felt, the roof sunk. Other than that I m quite happy and glad I bought this on January sale. Best priced and great value
I will try using my woodworking G Clamps to hold it in place and drive the screws straight in! No need to pilot hole first and clamping the sections make it easier on my own!
Where can I buy this Logs
You can them from us at power sheds
How big is the shed in the video?
8ft x 6ft
my mum just paid 15 g for 2 of these, she could have done it herself, gutted for her. If she didnt do it behind my back i would have done🤦 Can i ask, do most of your clients insulate them or do you think iys not needed being 44mm thick. I was thinking of adding a wood stove for her but unsure weather to insulate first or not
If you want to use it for all year round use, then the answer is Yes, you should insulate the floor and roof, but not the walls on a 44mm.

how is your insulated one different to this, it looks the same?
Hi. We don’t offer an insulated one unfortunately
I did mine with foil (5mx 3m shed tongue and groove). double bubble stuff as this created a good vapur barrier than polystyrene, and then I boarded it inside. Then I replaced the door for a solid wood external door and double glazed the windows with polycarbonate and strengthened them (basically remade them) with good closing seals. Works a treat and has done for some 10 years now.
Alright. This is pretty straightforward apart from one thing. I'd like to see how the back of the roof got insulated. Yes there is a gap between the fence and the shed but nowhere near enough.
