Can you use your front brake to pull off on a hill???? Or is it dangerous??

Why does no one talk about riding up a steep hill around a corner on a motorcycle??? do you just slow down for the curve and keep the speed through it? Bc you can't brake throughout the whole turn when your going up hill

I appreciate the honesty. Seems like a well rounded opinion. I rode dirtbikes and quads as a kid so my ego tells me I can handle a 600 but my ego also tells me I will pin the throttle and get myself hurt. It only takes one minor mistake. I'm going to either look for a 300 or 650 depending on the price. I'm also curious which gets the best gas mileage. 300 or 650?

I love my SV650. Gets about 75 hp. It toasts most cars on the streets up to 100-115 mph ish. After that the quick cars are faster.

That's fine with a lighter bike like the one in the video but with a very heavy bike it's often not practical or safe to only have your left foot on the ground at a stop - especially on a hill. I ride a huge Triumph Rocket 3 Touring (2300 CCs) that, as setup can weigh 1,000 lbs. It makes a HD seem tiny in comparison. With my wife and I on the bike the total weight can be over 1300 pounds. I always put both feet down at a stop but I easily make perfect stops and starts even on very steep hills. I hold the bike in place with just the front brake. It's an easy matter to give it a little gas while still holding the front brake. Then I ease of the front brake while feathering the clutch until the bike won't roll back when releasing the brake and then I take off as usual. So saying you have to hold the bike with the rear brake isn't really true. A really big, heavy bike often requires both feet on the ground at stops and using only the front brake is really quite easy after just a little practice.

I also face the same issue with a heavy bike but haven't mastered the hand brake technique so I avoid the very steep ones for now😅

9 minute video?! make sure the bike is in first gear hold the rear brake with your right foot, with your left foot down friction zone the clutch till the nose of the bike starts to dive down a bit, give it just a bit of gas take your right foot off the brake - off you go!

As a 0 experience rider, i only ever felt the weight of my bike once. As i nearly dropped it at low speed, but caught it with my right leg instead. Fear nothing! Go for it, 300 miles later i have all the confidence necessary!
