Paying for it necessarily isn't a bad thing....WHAT you actually pay for should be the discussion. We already have our tax dollars subsidize many aspects of our college system, arguably not all of that money isn't being distributed well. It's as stupid to say no tax dollars should pay for college as it is to say that college should be free. I have no issue with paid education. I do have issue with curving grades, lowered academic standards for attendance, bias for race or gender, and anything other than STEM courses being considered "college". Oh, and purely academic colleges, with little to no practical application training, which is most of what we have here in America....which produces little more than good students. Funding of college isn't a bad thing....HOW you do it can be. Taiwan's colleges are largely publicly funded. Their academic performance often ranks top 5 in the world, whereas our paid system produces academic performance that's more along the lines of 3rd world countries.

because as long as it's a GOOD education, then the more educated a society, the better quality of life for everyone. How many people in prison have college degrees for instance? How many more doctors or teachers might you have if your society paid to educate it's citizens
