I 100% recommend you level up as best as you can via side missions etc etc and get a healthy supply of health potions and cheese for health reasons. Not an easy cave / ruin to explore. Also save regularly as the hallway of death I think it is called is very difficult due to the fireball spell gems etc etc within this hallway. It did take me a while to get through it and looking up on RUclips ca...

I like em, but I never use em, and If i leave them home all the time they are sad, Feels bad to Save em from the cages just to lock em up at home. but I do like harvesting the venom to use to poison weapons...
