Motocamping in Sweden

It’s dark and cold outside so I’ve been daydreaming of the awesome summer we had last year. I shot this when I went motocamping for the first time. I say a few words about the experience at the end. Sorry about the messed up stabilization at the camp Music from www.hooksounds.com

Så hur går det med 750’n?
Jag hade lite för mycket att stå i så jag gav bort den till en vän. Vi har kommit lite längre på den men det är en bit kvar hehe. Det är inte omöjligt att det blir en fortsättning men håll inte andan…
Wow this is awesome
great adventures on a mini honda.
nice video, wonderful places!
it's 12 inches! 😂
How tall are both of you? I'm 190cm, did my motorcycle licence now in my 40s, bought 2022 MSX125 in autumn sale and head to travel around central europe next year. Yes, I do look very silly on a Grom, but I feel fine and I don't care about look anymore. :)
Then you are me (guy on red grom). I’m also 190cm and just turned 40. I’ve moved on to the gentleman’s bike the 125 monkey now though 🤡 They are awesome for touring. You can ride it everywhere! I wanna go down to the balkans on it but I don’t think it will be next year. Have an awesome trip man and keep me posted
I really enjoyed watching your adventure. I live in the North if Scotland. Norway looks like Scotland on steroids. Lovely photography and a lot of effort to produce such a nice video. Thank you.
Looks great! Gives me flash backs to my restoration of my DR650. Engine looks amazing overall! Not a single spot of blowback on the piston, mine had a little. Cylinder looks like a mirror… which is not ideal. Beware of the tension on the balancer chain! Mine was too loose so it completely tore itself apart. Had to replace the gears and chain. After replacing it I didn’t tighten the gears enough, so one of the gear came loose while riding… chain flew off and whipped a hole in my crankcase. Please follow the instructions in the manual about tightening! Cheers.
Thanks. I Didn’t know about the cylinder so I read up on now. Interesting… so I should probably hone it and install new rings? I will go into the chains a bit in the next episode. Sorry to hear about your misfortune
@@littlebigadventuring yeah honing and new rings is never a bad idea. On the other hand, I can’t really decide and be 100% sure from a video…
Nice ride :)
nice videos - any update on your restauration project? I'd love to see the whole process up to the finished bike.
I’ve been short on both time and funds for this project I’m afraid. But earlier this week my wife asked me if I wasn’t gonna pick it up again. Who am I to argue about that! No promises but I’ll try to get it back on track.
Cool, did you ever finish the bike?
What year Groms are those?
2013
what's the top speed on a Grom?
Please do come back to continue when you can please. Subscribed. I want to see the end and your thoughts on the bike!
I have Been busy working on my house. My garage is currently a woodworking zone… and I also stumbled on a new bike (more on that later). The plan is to pick it up again this winter.
so amazing video
It wasn’t long before our first river crossing , OH NO I said , F*##k off you said , Me chuckling in Australia bravo
Hey nice video. Do you have any info on the tunings you did?
My bike (the red one) was stock. The yellow one had a Leo Vance exhaust and beefed up suspension. No real tuning to either
Some sort of viking quest🍀💪
How has the restoration of the DR gone?
I’ve been busy renovating my house since the latest video. But I’m planning to finish the DR before summer so keep an eye out for new videos during the spring.
Good travel.
Amazing video, thank you
Hi I've just seen Your vids, its nice to see that somebody also have fun with old dr.BIG. I've got sr42 91yr in red and I did rebulit the engine 2rs ago and every ride brings me joy
Cool! Good luck with the restoration. I finished my 1992 DR800 last spring.
Where did you find the bike in a box? ebay? I am very excited to see this unfold, keep the vids coming!
Love your videos on the DR! :) Thank you!
Thanks! It’s on hold at the moment. i had to prioritize restoring my sons room instead :). I’m picking it up in July again.
Hi! Really fun to see another DR750 in Sweden! I also have a DR750S 1988 in white and blue!
Nice! where are you located?
@@littlebigadventuring Stockholm!
Fantastic effort guys. Just found your uploads. Highly entertaining!
Aha. good start. I love how less the luggage is.
Hey! I live in Sweden. I've been thinking of doing this too. I was wondering if it is a problem taking the bike into the forest/near the lake where you don't have paved roads? I believe the rules say you're only allowed to be on marked roads..
This was very close to a small road actually. In populated parts you might want to be careful but if you find a more remote area then I wouldn’t worry much about it
@@littlebigadventuring Alright! Great video btw :)
Great videos, I just purchased a Grom and have set it up for touring. Plan to do 1 month tour in Australia. In 2013 I sent my 650 v strom to England and rode UK and Europe to top of Norway.. the most beautiful country.
Neil Cuthbertson Nice! you’ll have a great time.
I'm hoping to ride my grom from the UK to Finland at some point.
Mini Bike Matt cool. Which route?
@@littlebigadventuring plan is to go through north europe and get the ferry from talin to Helsinki. It would be nice then to come back via Sweden and through Denmark
Mini Bike Matt the baltic coast is nice. My only worry would be that it might be a bit repetitive riding so far with the same scenery/landscape. I can imagine the roads are quite straight for most of the time. The grom was great fun in norway but Denmark was a bit boring. But if you do detours and stop a lot to do other stuff it can still be a sweet trip.
@@littlebigadventuring might be good to try and get round the gulf along the E4.. I that may a bit far north and the weather may not be great
I ment on your way to finland. You’d see much of the same riding along the north coast for so long. the E4 through sweden is a 110km/h dual carriage way. I’d stay away from that unless your in a rush. And in that case you’re on the wrong bike ;) unless you plan on riding in october-april I wouldn’t worry much about the temperature. You’d want to have good waterproof and warm gear for sure for such a long ride anyway. Are there no ferries from the UK to norway anymore?
wow it looks cold out there, and the Grom still runs well. Amazing
Beautiful view
I Injoyed the Ride 👌😊
Very nice Video 👌😊
That looks so awesome. I can hardly wait for summer..
theailer it was. Wish I could do it more often
You fool. You can't do that on groms. Fake. You need a BMW gs1200
John Smith busted! We actually used fish eye lenses on our gopros to make our bikes look small
Hello, what brand of tires have you fitted on the msx125? By the way it handles in the corners definitely not the stock ones.
Well done Grom adventure videos! AND I totally get your 9:49 "Border to Sweden (Wall's not finished)" caption. I'm not Islamophobic; I KNOW their faithful want to take over the world! Amazing videos... I watched them all. What editing software did ya use? Why oh why haven't more people watched this?!? Loved it.
shawn h. Thanks man. I used luma fusion on my ipad
Loved to watch the entire series. I was almost shouting "Turn RIIIGHT/ LEEEFT" as you passed some of my favourite roads, hehe. Thanks for making vids out of your trip and sharing. Too bad I could not join you, hehe. Long live the mini life and stay safe riding (too bad you sold your bikes). Best regards from Norway - Ask
Beautiful views, thanks for sharing
How has this not had more views?
Ben Forshaw spread the word ;)
Most excellent adventure .
Awesome!
speeding on grom! LOL. but it seems suitable for Norway though. the speed limit is about 80-90 KMH.
justa crlon yup except for the long uphill bits it was perfect
A fantastic amazing journey and your series is interesting and inspiring. Thank you for showing us the potential and your spirit. Perhaps maybe you could share your opinions on the clothing you wore and your camping gear, and why you chose that gear over another brand. As well if possible share with us the modifications you found best for the MSX/Grom.
Thank you for your kind words. I wore a Spidi marathon set. It’s a three layer set which I have owned for about four years now I think. It’s the only gear I have so that’s why I chose it :D. But it works great. Keeps me dry and it’s really warm with the thermo layer. I think we had a few degrees below freezing at times and I never felt too cold. I didn’t have any waterproof gloves so I used covers when it got too cold or it was raining the heated grips helped a lot obviously. On my feet I had Sidi rain I think they are called. Ironically the feet were to only part of me that got wet and where I felt most cold. i bought some warmer socks in Norway but it could have been better. My helmet is an arai chaser. Nice helmet but the cheap e-bay visor had no hydrophobic layer so it was a mess during the rain. I used car wax to make it a bit better. Regarding camping gear we didn’t bring any tent for this trip. It would simply be too much to lug along on these bikes. We stayed in Airbnbs and huts. We did bring sleeping bags which we made use of one night in a hut. My buddy also brought a fireless cooking set. It used some form of chemical reaction to heat water to boiling. It worked pretty good. I can’t find the brand atm though. I didn’t pick any gear especially for the trip. I used it because that’s the stuff I always ride in. Regarding mod for the bike. I was very happy that I reinstalled the stock can for the trip. We did a trip about half as long the year before with my tyga exhaust and it gets quite tiring to listen to. With stock I felt no need for earbuds which is a big plus in my book. Luggage rack was a must. I even had to extend mine. Stock tires are a hazard in regular conditions and would have been a huge risk factor where we went. We both used michelin power pure which works pretty good. They are still pretty slippery in the wet though but much softer than the stock ones. While I often wished for more power to go up hill But there is now way I’d take a grom fitted with big bore kit on a trip like this. The stock engine is weak but it will take serious abuse. We rode WOT 90% of the time and we lost no oil at all. Spare no expenses I would liked to have beefed up suspension. It worked just fine on the road but once we were off pavement it really struggled. I have sold my grom but I do miss it. If they ever make a 200cc + version I’ll be first in line. I might pick up a 125 for cheap later on. I hope that answered your questions :)
So comprehensive. I have learned a lot from you. And Thank You once again for uploading this series and showing "us" "out here in RUclips land" the possibilities. Also in time these videos will be your treasured memories to share with friends, family and Grandkids.
WOW ! Spectacular scenery. The Groms are such fun little bikes. You are showing people a $20,000 motorbike is not required, for great adventures ! Thanks for the trick with the potato.
Tommy Kawasaki it was a great trip! if you don’t mind stepping out of the comfort zone you can do amazing trips for very little money. When touring I also think slower is better. If you want to get somewhere fast and comfortable why ride a bike in the first place? And btw If you have problems with a visor I recommend ”trying” a little bit of car wax from a petrol station. The potato is better than nothing but Wax is better still and I think just as easy to find as potatoes :D
Nice calming video changeup from all the typical screaming and attention grabbing headlines, just pure nature and scenic riding greatness!
Amazing views!
